Movie Review: The Blind Side

The Blind Side hit the theatres in the fall of 2009 and ever since seeing the previews for this movie I felt deeply compelled to watch it.  At long last, we bought the DVD.  For most of you, you probably have the load down on this flick and perhaps even find equal favor with it, as I do. This is for those who haven’t had the privilege of seeing it first-hand.

Generally, when we purchase movies we select from the Action/Adventure genre.  Dramas are not our normal preference unless it’s coupled with suspense.  In the Blind Side, a young man, Michael Oher (Quinton Aaron) is basically homeless.  He was placed in foster homes, but only to run away.  Leigh Ann Tuohy (Sandra Bullock) a compassionate, determined driven woman saw an immediate need in this young man, as she and her family sees him wandering the streets on a cold night wearing very little. She invited Michael Oher the comfort of her home from the misery he otherwise would had to endure another night.  From that point, a bond is formed and soon the Tuohys’ grow to think of Michael as part of the family.

There is more to this story. I don’t want to give you too many details, but it’s a movie I whole-heartedly recommend.  I laughed in parts, as well as cried in others.  It was nice to see humanity rise in the most unlikely places and our hearts soared with each triumph.  It was definitely a feel-good kind of movie.   We all aren’t called to be like the Leigh Ann Tuohys of the world, but God bless those who have hearts like this woman.  Watch The Blind Side today!

@Margaret…it really is heart-warming movie. I thought it would be good from the start, but I didn’t know just how much I’d really like it. The big surprise came with my husband and son, liking the movie a lot. Now that’s a big deal around here, as you can well imagine. LOL Definitely rent or buy it!
