Welcome to Monday’s Music Moves Me on Sundays! I’m carrying over last week’s Latin Artists theme today since this whatever music moves you week!
Have you heard of the Latin group Malo? This San Francisco latino rock band formed in 1971. The original group consisted of Arcelio Garcia, Pablo Tellez, and Jorge Santana (Carlo Santana’s brother). The band featured full horn and percussion section in their music style which I totally love. In my opinion that is what’s missing in current music. I’m sharing their 1972 self-titled album. It peaked #14 on US Top 200 and #10 US R&B charts. Click play to enjoy the sound of Malo!
Now, it’s your turn, what music is moving you?
Friday evening we got a rare glimpse of the Northern Lights. This is the first time for both of us to see the phenomena. The lights didn’t dance in big electric waves but depending the moment I pressed the shutter on my iPhone and the sky appeared purplish or melon color. In this picture a bit of green light is visible in the lower portion of the frame.
I couldn’t enjoy Mother’s Day if it weren’t for my three kiddos. I’m blessed! Speaking of children, our daughter who lives in Maine celebrates another year older on Tuesday. I dedicate this 1990 Billboard Hot 100 song to her. The title has nothing to do with her directly just saying. 🤣
I’m sending warm wishes to all mothers, may your day be filled with lots of love, laughter, and sunshine!
Have a boogietastic week!

Malo was totally High School for me – right up there with Chicago, and of course, Santana 😉
Hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day.
You are right – having love in your life is the best form of riches. Hope you had a great Mother’s Day. I loved this music and realized I knew Suavecito. I had no idea Carlos Santana had a brother and that his band did this song. Such an enjoyable playlist! Thank you for the aurora picture – we were totally clouded out (just like the eclipse!) I thought for sure I was on the only one who hadn’t heard of Malo or that there is another talented Santana boy out there. 🙂
Great music, Great drawing and Great picture. Thanks for hosting and I hope that you have a wonderful week. Sorry, I am a little late.
No worries, better late than never and besides as you said, you’re just a little late. 🙂 Thanks for joining the party!
Hope you had a lovely Mother’s Day, Cathy! 🙂 I love the music and didn’t know Carlos Santana has a brother. Musical genes run in that family, for sure! Happy Birthday to your daughter! 🎉 That’s a nice shot of the Northern Lights. 👌🏻 We didn’t get to see much where we are, but apparently, other areas around us did.
I didn’t know Carlos had a musical brother, either. This is a great discovery, I thought. 😉 Too bad y’all weren’t in a good area for the Northern Lights. I thought for sure you might’ve been able to see them.
The area would have been fine, but the weather didn’t cooperate. Too much cloud cover.
Wow, Malo is on fire! Great to start the week with some Latin vibes. Thanks!
Thank you for dancing with us this week, Molly!
I love this post, great music, the Northern Lights which believe it or not we slept through and they were fantastic over our town!!!! Happy birthday to you daughter and I hope you enjoyed mother’s day 💜💜 Oh and that photo of you and you Mum is just magical 💜💜💜
That’s too bad you slept through the cosmic event. I would love to see the Northern Lights dance across the sky as seen in photographs. Our daughter in Maine captured some fabulous images. At least, we can say we saw them and although the light was faint, it was visible through the eye of the camera or my case Smartphone. 🙂
Such a shame but that’s life isn’t….here’s a song 💜

I have not heard of Malo – thanks for the intro! Hope you had a fabulous Mother’s Day! 🙂
You’re most welcome, Stacy!
A blessed and beautiful Happy Mother’s Day to you!
Mimi,
Thanks and I hope your day was a lovely one, too!
A great lust of songs from that Latin band and enjoyed the other 2. When I hear Dolly, I actually think of my dad in the final months before he died. Dolly came on with a variety show and my dad so enjoyed it that it truly lifted his spirits. He found her true and blue with great talent. I was sad that her show lasted 1 season. I hope you had a wonderful Mother’s day.
Dolly’s down to earth personality and good nature draws the audience in regardless of age or music genre. She’s very like-able! I hope to meet her one day. 🙂
Happy Mother’s Day! And Happy Birthday to your daughter. XO
That’s a nice sketch! Nope, I never heard of Malo. Happy Mother’s Day from all of us!
I’m glad to have introduced you to them and many thanks for the Mday wishes, furriend!
I wonder if they’re still around. They were really good back when I was in high school.
Happy Mother’s Day!
According to Malo’s official website they still tour. Thanks for the MDay wishes, John. Have a boogietastic week!
Happy Mother’s Day, Cathy! 💖
Thank you, Eugi! 😘
