2022 A-Z Challenge

Kanga and Roo

This is day 12 of the A to Z Challenge.    Sketching my images over usually isn’t hard.  I might make some minor improvements but for some reason I’m taking too long to color the designs.  When I do close up work I see the imperfections and that drives me a bit nuts, so I try to smooth out the flaws.  *sigh*  I really should’ve done these months ago! Oh well, it is what it is.  Here’s the recreation illustration of Kanga and Roo.

Like yesterday, I’m including a side-by-side comparison – the original pencil drawing and the Procreate enhanced illustration.

I’m heading over to the A2Z headquarters to leave my calling card and maybe I’ll take notice to see who else came to the party.  Every time I see a cartoon kangaroo, I’m reminded of the Looney Tune’s cartoon where a kangaroo is mistaken for a giant mouse and it would either box or kick Sylvester.  So, when Dean Martin’s song “Aint That A Kick In The Head”, I knew that was a great song to close with today.  Thanks for stopping by, this is CAAC signing off, I’ll be back tomorrow with the next letter in the alphabet!

I also try to smooth out the imperfections in my drawings but they can always be fixed so I leave them. I think overtime, you can kind of let the flaws stay but every creators does want to perfect that one piece they’re working on, it’s not a bad thing, I don’t think.

The color version is really good, definitely more cheerful than the original. The expressions are more appealing, I should say.

    Have a lovely day.

I think you did a fabulous job.

I love Dean Martin. What a voice and he was so funny.

Have a fabulous day and rest of the week, Cathy. Love and hugs. ♥

An excellent job in smoothing out the colours. I really like this one because it au h a touching moment. You captured the emotions so well.

I do remember the Warner Bros cartoons with poor Sylvester getting kno ked Round by whT, he thinks, is a giant mouse. Even his own son does not believe him.

    Hi, Cathy!

Happy Almost Wordless Wednesday and K-Day, dear friend! It’s good to be back at my regular time and not sidelined all morning by an internet outage.

Awww… I just wanna smooch that cute little Roo, but I’m afraid mama Kanga would dance all over my face. 🙂 That’s a marvelous transformation, Cathy, from your original black & white pencil sketch to glorious Living Color. Once again, I see my two favorite colors, green and purple, in this one, and the animals are very nicely rendered. Kanga appears to be gleefully speaking to Roo, overjoyed by the flower the baby is offering. I also admire the mailboxes on the crooked post which looks like a segment of a tree branch. It’s a heartwarming scene, and another one of your works worthy of framing and hanging on the wall.

Yessum, that “Kick In The Head” song by Dean Martin is an ideal selection to go with today’s theme. Dean Martin is one of the few pop music recording artists that my mother and I agreed on. We both loved his easy-going, laid-back style. Dean had a knack for making every song performance appear effortless, natural and spontaneous. He was truly a star.

Thank you very much for the eye and ear pleasing entertainment this morning, dear friend Cathy. Have a wonderful Wednesday and I’ll be back here to see your tomorrow on L-Day!.
