Battle of the Bands

Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring BoTB

Jamey Turner plays Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring on the glass harp. For your listening pleasure only

I got the idea for today’s battle when I saw this street musician video.  Hmm, I wonder how got all of those wine glasses transported, then set up on the street?  Yeah, you’d expect the “curious” in me to want to know that, right?  I don’t know how he did it but Turner’s rendition is beautiful even though it’s faster than other recordings I’ve heard it gave me a blessing.

My first contender is Duo Rosanna with Rosalind Beall on guitar and Anna Comellas on cello . The girls playing is beautiful.  Their version of this old song has that classical feel that cleanses the mind of all distractions.

Up next is The Collingsworth Family, a worship and praise group.  Their instrumental arrangement is a pure heavenly sounding, played with total reverence that tenders to the spiritual side within us all.

In case you missed the news on Monday, DH has the week off from work and I’m taking a short blog break to spend it with him.  I’ll be back Monday morning for Monday’s Music Moves Me boogieing to Christmas music and you’re welcome to join the party.  If I don’t get side-lined too badly I hope to have the results of this battle next week.  This is CAAC signing off!  X💋X💋, Cathy

Polls close at noon (ET) on Dec. 21!

    CAThy!

That Jamey Turner fella is pretty incredible! It’s astounding how he gets such a full, rich sound out of those glasses.

In this Battle, I liked both recordings really well. But, because the violin is not one of my favorite instruments (a bit too high-pitched for my highly sensitive canine ears), I preferred the rendition by Duo Rosanna.

Also, by the way, that’s a pretty clever group name they came up with by combining their names Rosalind & Anna.

I hope you and yours have a truly Merry Christmas, a safe New Year’s Eve, and I look forward to more BOTBing in 2023.

    God Bless you, my friend!!

I have bad memories of playing this, so it’s really not my favorite piece of music. That said, I liked the Collingsworth Family better, so they get my vote.

    Hi Cathy!
I definitely would have voted for Jamey on the glass harp! I just love the treasures you find on side streets 😉
That said, my vote goes to The Collingsworth Family for a splendid blend of instruments.
Happy times to you and yours!

I hope you are having a lovely time with your HH. I wish I could vote for the man with those glasses. What an artist! It takes a lot of precision and work to so that piece justice and he does it brilliantly. Hmm….this is a real hard one because I love both equally but…I give my both to the gal duo, your first contender. It just seemed more emotive to me.

    Love Jamey Turner. So talented.

I loved both, but I’m going with Rosalind Beall and Anna Comellas. Beautiful.

Have a fabulous day and weekend, Cathy. Love and hugs. ♥

    Hi, Cathy!

Happy Thankful Thursday, dear friend, and a special hello to my good buddy Foghorn Leghorn! 🙂 I like your BOTB header picture.

I also loved that video of the busker playing all those wine glasses. He gets a rich, true sound out of them, doesn’t he?

I appreciate your poetic introductions to the two contestants in this week’s battle. As much as I enjoyed the performance of group #2, the Collingsworths, I think I’ll go with the “underdogs,” Duo Rosanna. Somehow, their simple, stripped-down acoustic guitar and cello version of the tune touched me more and fit my mellow mood on this particular morning. So, please give my vote to act #1 – Rosalind Beall and Anna Comellas aka Duo Rosanna.

I hope your precious gift LA is feeling better by the hour. Enjoy he rest of your week and weekend, dear friend Cathy!
