Monday's Music Moves Me

Olivia Newton John Christmas Wish

Awww Mondays hosted by Sandee from Comedy Plus.

Welcome to Monday’s Music Moves Me!  It’s December again, boys and girls!  This means all month long holiday tunes will spin on the ole virtual turntable with all things Christmas as our theme.

This morning’s featured artist is another stash away from last December. Olivia Newton John was popular during my teen years through my mid-20s. I always enjoyed her soft feminine voice. I hope you enjoy Olivia’s Christmas Wish album!

Playlist tracks: 1. A Gift of Love with Barry Manilow 2. A Mother’s Christmas Wish with Jim Brickman 3. All Through the Night with Michael McDonald 4. Angels in the Snow 5. Christmas on My Radio 6. Every Time It Snow with Jon Secada 7. In the Bleak Midwinter 8. Instrument of Peace with Marc Jordan 9. Little Star of Bethlehem 10. O Come All Ye Faithful 11. Silent Night with Jann Arden 12. Underneath the Same Sky 13. We Three Kings

This is a music linky party.  Your co-hostess are StacyAlana, and Me.   Every other week we have a suggested music theme (see weekly prompts here) to build your song set around and all participants share YouTube or Vimeo videos for our music enthusiasts.  Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.

4M design by Cathy Kennedy

Last week’s short blogging hiatus went by all too fast.  I can’t believe it’s now Christmas week.  The whole month is flying right out the window.  I hope you’re soaking up the essence of the holiday spirit in everything you do.  This week will be busy but I’m going to enjoy the season of love with Christmas music playing in the background.  No comments needed, savor the music and spirit of the holiday.  This is CAAC signing off,  have a boogietastic week! X💋X💋, Cathy

Olivia Newton-John had such a beautiful voice, and her death was a great loss to the music community. Of these, I think my favorite were the several based on the more traditional carols – O Little Town of Bethlehem, O Come All Ye Faithful, and also her duet with Barrow Manilow in the first selection. Alana,

It was sad to loss Olivia this year. Her voice was beautiful. I’m happy its forever preserved for us and others to enjoy for years to come. Traditional Christmas carols are my favorite but her more contemporary holiday tunes are nice change. Thanks for boogieing with me, my friend!

I miss Olivia Newton-John and her beautiful voice. Thank you for sharing her lovely music. May you and your family have a joyous holiday season. 💖

  • Michael Todd

This album is wonderful. Thanks for sharing. I really mean that.
I hope all is well in East Tennessee… Over here in the Mississippi Delta, we are going to go down to near zero degrees this week. Isn’t that special?
    Merry Christmas, Cathy.

      Myke,

It’s forecast to get pretty darn cold here in our neck of the woods. After today the temperatures take a miserable dive. I believe they’re calling for 8º Friday night. The whole weekend is supposed to be quite cold but then things warm up toward the end of the month and into the new year. It’s just crazy weather! Have a nice Christmas with your family, my friend!

  • Birgit

      Sandee,

After today, our temperatures are taking a nose dive south. Brrr, I’m not ready for the frigid weather coming in! I’ll be more than ready for spring after this passes for sure. 🙂 It’s a privilege to co-host this thing with two other great gals. I wish our Marie was back in the mix. I got a Christmas card from her. She really misses blogging and all the people. Have a happy Christmas, dear friend!

Olivia was one of those under appreciated female voices of her time. Thanks for sharing some wonderful Christmas music from a lovely lady with a lovely voice. Merry Christmas to one and all.

    • Cathy Kennedy

I think you’re right, Olivia’s voice was under appreciated. I loved her style since the 70s! And while she’s no longer with us, we can enjoy her music. Thanks for joining the party and have a blessed Christmas, my friend!

    Hi, Cathy!

Happy Paw-some 4M Monday, dear friend! I hope you and DH are having a healthy and enjoyable holiday season.

Awww… I just wanna smooch every member of that furry family as they go window shopping for Christmas.

It’s fitting that you bring back the voice of Olivia Newton-John which was silenced last August. This album, Christmas Wish, features ONJ singing solo and also collaborating with various male singers on sounds of the season, most of them traditional carols rather than romantic secular songs. I like that! The album was recorded in 2007 when Libby was nearly 60 years old, but her sweet voice is unmistakable. I’m going to name my favorite songs in this set, beginning with Olivia’s duet with Michael McDonald on the traditional Welsh song “All Through the Night.” “Angels In The Snow” is the next number that grabs me by the heart. Another beautiful duet that I love here is “Every Time It Snows” (with Jon Secada). Another terrific track is Olivia singing solo on “In the Bleak Midwinter,” the bonus song contained on the Target reissue CD. “In the Bleak Midwinter”:is a poem by the English poet Christina Rossetti that is commonly performed as a Christmas carol. “Instrument of Peace” (with Marc Jordan) is magnificent and inspiring.

This ONJ album Christmas Wish is wonderful because it contains many seldom heard songs, not the kind you hear every five minutes throughout the holidays. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Have a safe and happy week, dear friend Cathy!

      Tom,

I pulled together this post just a short while before Olivia passed. The news was so sad. I always loved her voice – so beautiful and soft. I’m delighted you enjoyed her Christmas album. I haven’t had a chance to listen to it since I found it, so I will do that today while I make a home-made stack cake. 🙂 Have a joyful Christmas weekend, my friend!
