It Happens In A Blink

I got a reminder this morning of how fragile life is from a blogger, Shelley.  This week brought a sad close to a chapter in her life with the passing of her dear friend, Erik.  He was not only a friend to Shelley but a husband and father.

The video above was placed on her blog.  The words are absolutely beautiful.  The message spoke to my heart.  “It happens in a blink, it happens in a flash…”  None of us are immune to the untimely, unsettling effects of death.  A blink or flash is too quick…too short and then what we know as is will be gone.  This rattles me to the realization, I need to make the most of every day.  Why can’t I just see this before some one’s life gets snuffed away?

Our heavenly Father promised us we’ll one day be reunited with those we love.  I believe this. God’s reassurance fills my spirit with peace.  But for now, I need to slow down.  I need to make the best of my time on earth.  No one knows what tomorrow will hold.  ‘Slow down before our today becomes yesterday,’ as the song reminds us.  Facing the future with regrets would be haunting.

Please join me in prayer for Erik’s family.  It matters not, we do not know him or his family or his friends, but the Bible tells in Matthew 18:20…“For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”  There is strength in our prayer numbers when we uplift another on their behalf.  They will sense God’s presence is a special way, I believe.

After you’ve talked with God about this family, then make a point starting this moment to live your life, like there is no tomorrow.  I know I am going to.  Take a second, if  you would be so kind to visit Shelley @Finding My Life In Faith  and to offer her a little encouragement and love by leaving her a comment.

Thank you and God bless each one!
