Random Tuesday Thoughts

I’m a Moron!

Photo Borrowed

I’m a Moron! I said, Moron NOT Mormon. There’s a big difference. Religiously speaking, I’m a Southern Baptist. Intellectually speaking, I’m a Moron…sometimes.  Last night, was one of those “sometimes” moments . Shall we dare to go there? Oh we shall, we shall!

We were at Home Depot yesterday evening. You may recall a few weeks ago, a large pine tree toppled over on the garage end of our house. This happened while DH was under going implant surgery and recovery and then more bad weather. All of these elements joined is the result for the delay to do anything about the tree until now.

This brings me back to Home Depot. We were there to buy supplies for DH and DS to get the said “tree” off our roof with minimal damage to home. Once DH figured out what he wanted, he began having me put the item’s 6-digit store code into my iPhone. We have to have this stuff delivered because it’s too big and heavy to go inside our Toyota Camry.   All we had to do is give the check out clerk this information.

Interesting, I thought about Heather from Acting Balanced who posed the question in yesterday’s post, what would I do if I won the lottery? Or, it was something along that line. Anywho, I knew instantly last night one thing I would get if I hit it big in the lottery – buy a truck! Oh my ouching goodness, $59 for delivery! That’s better than paying $500 per/month on a truck payment, I suppose, but it still hurts. Wait, who cares, the lottery win would take care of this, right?

Oh yes, what was I saying? Got it! My DH was going through the store contemplating with my DS what’s needed for the job, pausing here and there to hatch plan their scheme DIY tree removal system. My task was to follow and record the store codes into my phone. Simple, right?

After spending an enormous chunk of our evening in Home Depot, we were nearly done. On my iPhone, I used Notes to record the items we would purchase. We were on the home stretch, as we headed across the store to pick out one more thing. My DH called out the final 6-digit stock code, I paused. My eyes widened. My back stiffened. My voice got shrill…correction more shrill than usual. “Where’s my note?”

My DH looked over my shoulder. “Scroll to the top,” he said. I did. It wasn’t there. Where the note should have been, there was nothing but random letters and part of a text I sent earlier to DD#2. How did this happened? My notes are gone!  What happened is, I somehow copied and pasted over my notes. My DH just rolls his eyes. I stood there in a state of shock, while fuming over my this moronic act that I unknowingly did somehow again. Yes, AGAIN! This is my second nightmare experience with deleting one of my notes on my iPhone.

Quickly, I ditched my high-tech toy, producing from my purse a note pad and pen. When high-tech fails “Old School” saves the day! I retraced my steps gathering the 6-digits store codes and before long (half hour later) we were on our way to check out. sigh

Lesson learned: Make sure iPhone Notes is closed off completely, if it will be more than a second before I type more notes.

Have you ever had a song stuck in your head? This was the case with me last night. After we got home, this song was playing over and over and over in my brain….

It’s a great song, undeniably and I love it! But, why was it rambling around inside my head. There is a reason for my madness. Trust me, I can’t always explain it, but amidst my oddities the complexities of my brain is at work trying to unravel some of my messes. Usually, I don’t do two moronic things in one day, but yesterday was the exception.

A new blogger left a comment on my blog who I gave a thank you shout out in yesterday’s post MMoM and Monday Miscellany. The problem is I called her Susan.  Guess what her name really is? Yep, Sarah! Subconsciously, I must have realized my mistake, but I didn’t pick up on it until this morning. slap self on forehead Please, allow me introduce you to Sarah of Splashin’ Glory.  I humbly apologize to you, my dear new friend for calling you Susan.

What can I say, I’m a Moron…sometimes! How about you, do you have moronic moments equal to or do they surpass mine?

Next, I’m hooking up with RoryBore for my Tuesday Coffee Chat.  This week’s theme is Spring Break.   Stay-cation or Vacation?

Our school system isn’t on spring break yet. That’s scheduled next week, actually. Of course, we home school and don’t plan our spring break around our city’s school calendar. I prefer to plan our spring break around Easter, but this year, I believe I’m going to change things up. I think we shall have all of next week off.

Unfortunately, we won’t be going away for a fancy “vacation”. One week just isn’t enough time to enjoy a trip to somewhere wonderful, like the coast of Maine. Ah, I would love a repeat of our 2004 vacation to Acadia National Park. We went there for our 25th wedding anniversary and stayed in Bar Harbor, Maine. That was a fabulous time! Maybe, we’ll be able to do that next year. For now, we’ll just stick to and enjoy a stay-cation while on our spring break.

DS needs to look for a summer job. That will be an excellent time to hit the mall in search of work. Also, DH & DS plan to get the tree removal project under way this weekend, which may mean DS will have his chores cut out (literally) for him, as he’s in charge of sawing up the tree to take to the curb. He’s young and strong. The hard work will be good for him! Plus, there are some spring cleaning projects, I need to tackle.

Not to worry, though. We’ll find some time for a little R&R, including coffee breaks and Tuesday morning talks.

Last, but not least I am playing along with hostesses Impulsive Addict & Shawn in Talk to Us Tuesday.

Take a few minutes to enjoy a cup of coffee with your blog friends, as you enjoy some  random reflections, considerations, or brooding. While you’re at it, join in on the fun – create your own post and link up! Have a terrific Tuesday!

Always old school for me. I have either dropped the phone, mis keyed what ever I was trying to type, the keypad is not big and clumsy friendly or misplaced the phone. The more expensive the gadget, the more likely I am to have left it on that shelf three aisles back. The pen and paper, with me for ever? Unless I made the list before hand, then the pen, paper and list are all safely back home on my desk. argh.

LOL I Just clicked to comment and then clicked close this window before commenting. Now what were you saying about moron? 🙂

Anyway I love old school pen and paper. I have no idea what the Iphone is like but now it makes me wonder. I hope maybe to get one sometime, but I don’t thinkd h thinks it’s a good idea.

    Are they expensive to maintain?

Good golly on the delivery charge! I hope you guys get the tree down without any damage. Sounds like some hard sweaty work coming on.

    Good luck!

I have a notepad and about a million pens/pencils in my purse. Like Rory I find it just takes too long to input all the info into the phone and just like you I have deleted and lost too many to count. We are having a staycation, too!!!

  • Impulsive Addict

You are so funny!! I have had the same experience with my iphone notes. It’s not fun when all of a sudden, it’s not there anymore! Ugh. Technology. Can’t live with it OR without it.

Susan/Sarah. It was close. I’m sure she’s ok with it. =)

We love seeing new faces on TTUT so thanks for linking up with us! I’ve also seen some of your comments on other link-upers. Thank you for that also! xoxo

I always keep a pad of paper and a pen in my purse too. by the time I grab my phone, unlock it (saftety must with kids touching it all the time), locate the correct app for notes, choose new note, type the note….heck — I would have been done simply writing it down 5 minutes ago! LOL
A trip to Maine or New England would be fabulous! I love that area. I used to do Covered Bridges tours around there – fantastic scenery. thanks for joining me for a cuppa again!
