Wednesday Hops

Hodgepodge-Chit Chat-Wayback Wednesday Fun

I’m linking up to Joyce’s 74th edition of

I’d like to say, I’ve been with Joyce and her Hodgepodge hoppers from the get-go, but sadly I have not. In fact, I have been rather random lately hooking up thanks to my son.

Yeah, blame the kid, right? Really, it’s entirely his fault because I’ve been brain-dead with the zillion and one to-dos to get ready for his high school graduation and college prep. blah, blah, blah

I know, you want me to hush. Nah, you say. Body language speaks volumes. You can pull your fingers out of your ears now and on that note, let me delve into this week’s questions.

1. Spring is in the air (at least in my neck of the woods) and the birds are singing…what’s your favorite bird?

I like all birds, except woodpeckers. Well, that’s not entirely true. I think some woodpeckers are really pretty. The real problem is when one decides to drill a hole in the side of the house. I think the sounds of most birds singing is cheerful and it puts me in a happy mood.

But, if I had to say which song bird is my favorite by its appearance then I’d say I like the Black Capped Chickadee because I think these are the cutest little things.

 2. Speaking of birds…do you tweet? If so tell us your screen name and we’ll come flocking to your Twitter site. Even if you don’t let’s all pretend here that we do-in 140 characters or less, sum up your week so far.

It’s funny I mentioned Twitter in yesterday’s post: Do You Tweet? Photo Editing. Blogger. Light at the end of the tunnel. Laughter is the best medicine.

Hmmm, let me see…’I’m here! That’s better than the alternative – a dirt nap, right? It’s Tuesday. That means one thing – time to random! Join me at Stacy Uncorked for RTT!

That sounds far more interesting than a ‘typical’ day rant. Who wants to hear that I’m brushing my teeth or that I’m walking my hamster or I’m being chased by a pack of wild squirrels or I’m out of milk?

BTW, on the off-chance you’d like to stalk me. My Twitter screen name is greeneyestale. Warning: There isn’t too much juicy stuff I tweet about and it may be a complete bore to most.

3. Its been reported recently that employers are not only viewing the Facebook pages of potential hires but they’re also requesting your Facebook password to have a look at what you’ve kept from public view. What say you?

I certainly do not have anything to hide from a potential employer, but it’s not up to Facebook to give my password to anyone other than to me.

Grant it, a large majority of people – especially among the younger crowd are entirely too free with what they post on the Internet. I think an employer can learn a lot about a person just by visiting a future employees Facebook wall.

4. It’s April and you know what that means-Major League Baseball is back in action. What’s your favorite baseball movie? If that’s too hard, what’s your favorite sports themed movie?

I like tennis. It’s always fun to watch Wimbledon. Football is my favorite spectators sport, though. I have awhile to wait for the return of it. Meanwhile, I watch them smash balls and grunt on center court.

5. Something else this season brings-asparagus. Yes please or no thanks? If it’s yes please what’s your favorite way to have it prepared?

I like asparagus, but it’s so dare expensive compared to other veggies. When I do buy it, I like preparing it rather simple – steamed with a little butter and salt.

6. What drives you? (Don’t you love how I sandwiched that one in between asparagus and jugglers???)

insane? up the wall? out of your mind? Something tells me this isn’t precisely what you’re talking about. Am I right?

My family drives me. I do what I do all because of them. It would be so easy to not keep with traditions or make a fuss over special or not-so-special events, but I do and it’s because of the people I love.

7. April 18th is International Jugglers Day…can you juggle?

Plates? Balls? No, I can’t juggle things/ I, however, am now able to juggle schedules and tasks pretty well. The last 24 years of being a 24/7 SAHM brought these skills out in me. I’m sure every one of your female readers can totally relate to this. Do I hear an amen?

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Do you like music? Music really moves me, especially on Mondays. Why? That’s the one day I get to spend hopping dancing from blog to blog, as I participate in Monday’s Music Moves Me meme hosted by Marie from Xmas Dolly. Check out my post: Help, I’ve Gotta Boogie Fever! to see if you’d like to board the Love Train this coming Monday. This is one fine way to get your Monday mornings rolling in a groovy fashion!

1. What’s the last big gathering you attended? (wedding, funeral, graduation, party, riot, etc)

The largest gathering I can recall ever attending is my high school graduation. Looking back, I’m not sure how many families attended that day, but there were hundreds of people there. The sea of faces held few recognition to my eyes. You see, I finished my high school career after I got married. My DH & I wedded between my Junior and Senior year in high school. That day held more bittersweet moments for me than the average Senior that day. I missed not graduating with the friends I grew up with and my parents who couldn’t be apart of it all. That was then, this is now. I survived it all and happy for living it.

2. Do you switch over your seasonal wardrobe, wear the same things year round, have a huge closet to put it all in, or throw everything out and buy new each season(I threw the last one in there to see if you’re paying attention;)?

Yeah, that’s right I buy new clothing each season NOT. lol. I long for a HUGE closet where I can comfortably store all of my clothes, but that not being the case things get switched out every season.

3.  What sweetener do you use most often?

When I bake, I use sugar. I like honey, but DH is allergic to it. The only time I get to use honey is for myself every now and again. I regularly use Splenda in my tea or for foods that need a little sweetener. This isn’t regular thing, but I try to shave calories when possible.

4. Slippers, socks, or barefoot?

It’s either slippers or barefoot depending on the weather.

5.  What questions would you like me to ask the group over the next few weeks?

Would you like to join Cathy in a dance party aboard the Love Train each week? If so, come by on Monday. Click here to get an example of some of the fun we can have together!

Angela and I want to welcome you to Wayback Wednesdays. This is a good way to reminisce through music. My DS reminded me of a great Wayback selection from the 80s. It’s interesting how the younger generation is grooving to beats from an era before they were born, but hasn’t it always been this way? Think about your youth. What music did you like? Was it current bill board hits or classic oldies? Oldies are definitely goodies, right?

Wayback Wednesdays is all about having fun! No rules apply, other than if you are a new follower please leave me a comment so I can follow you back and we ask that you link up your blog, Facebook, or Twitter address.

I would love to encourage you to create your own special Wayback post, if you can or at least work Wayback Wednesdays into your tweet or blog/Facebook posts.

Thanks for linking up. You can expect a visit from me soon, as I make a point to visit each participants’ blog every week.  Please, don’t forget to check out Angela, our hostess, from Mommy Time Out for her Wayback post. She totally rocks!

Calling all music lovers! You’re invited to board the Love Train with Marie, head conductor, and all the rest for Monday’s Music Moves Me. Next week, there are two themes to choose from: “One Hit Wonders or Grandma’s Favorite” songs. You decide. Just join and have some fun!

That’s one way to juggle!I think it’s so neat that you went back to graduate. It must have felt a bit funny though. You must have been at quite a different stage than the other graduates. I admire you for going back. I don’t get a new wardrobe either. I don’t have a huge closet, but we just got some neat clothes storage from Ikea and it beats anything this old,old house had before. Have a good rest of the week!

    Interesting read Cathy.

That facebook thing with employers wanting to peek. I do not agree with it. It’s about privacy and unless you are going to be president or in the military or a job where it’s necessary to expose your life for safety, they shouldn’t be in your private spot like that.

    Enjoy your evening hon.

We’re preparing for a university graduation and organizing the housing has been a bit of a nightmare but I think we’ve got it set finally. That highschool to college thing is bittersweet-enjoy!

Oh, you definitely get an “AMEN!” from me regarding your answer to #7! I’m right there with ya! I know what a busy and hectic time this can be, not to mention ‘bittersweet’, when you’re preparing to send your child off to test their wings. Best of luck!
