Saturday Songsuasion

High Dive Heart

Good morning, kittens & dawgs! The weekend is here (almost) and it’s time to have relax, unwind, and have fun. There’s no better way to do all three than with the purrrfect mewsic, right?

Today’s featured band began following me on Twitter this week and after listening to a sample of their mewsic, then I knew I had another winning pick for Saturday Songsuasion. Allow me to introduce you to High Dive Heart!

Here’s a snippet of the duo’s bio from their site…

The answers to life’s biggest questions often lie right before our eyes. That’s definitely the case for High Dive Heart – the musical union of multi-platinum songwriter and solo artist Jason Reeves and singer-songwriter Nelly Joy. While working together on Jason’s 2011 solo album The Lovesick—which independently reached #5 on iTunes Pop Albums chart—Nelly had no idea who served as the record’s muse, even though she could’ve simply glanced in the mirror.

“I was working with Jason crafting songs for his record,” she remembers. “He developed a crush on me, but I didn’t realize it. I just thought I was helping him write about some other girl. One night, we had a couple of margaritas, and the truth spilled out. I should’ve known since he never said her name!”

Jason and Nelly married in 2012, and kept making music together. One collaboration, “More In Love With You,” figured prominently on Jason’s 2013 album Songs Are Silent Films. GRAMMY® Award-winning producer Nathan Chapman (Taylor Swift, Lady Antebellum, Keith Urban) heard the tune and urged them to make a record together. It’s the second time serendipity stepped in for High Dive Heart.

Do you have your speakers on? Good, now give a listen to this pop-rock sound of High Dive Heart!

If I knew then, what I know right now
I would’ve stayed on the playground

Don’t quit doing what you’re doing
cause you’re different
I know people say that you’re a misfit
but that’s the thing I like about you

Always nice to find new music…especially when it is good! 😉
Since they followed you on Twitter, it worked out well for them.

You find the most interesting bands.
    I enjoy their music.
Thanks for sharing these Cathy. I like their words. Not just the beat.

Thanks for praying for me. Have a blessed week

Nice sound. Kind of in the realm of the style of music Justin Bieber is in, but with a tinge of country pop. I wouldn’t rush out to buy their album, but I wouldn’t turn one of their songs off if it came on the radio–well, unless it was really annoying to me.

Lee, I like HDH’s sound, too. I’m not ready to buy their stuff just yet but I think they’re on the verge of producing something that really grabs my ears! I’ll be interesting to see (hear) if my prediction is right. ?

    Hi, Cathy!

I’m up late, taking a break from Thea’s Rave, and decided to come over and sample some of your purrrfect mewsic. 🙂

High Dive Heart has a distinctive name and a sound to match. I’d describe it as a fusion of country, bluegrass, pop and pop-rap – a very fresh sound indeed. The story of how they got together and became husband and wife is touching. I loved all three of their songs and appreciated their video and PSA tag aimed at raising awareness of the bullying epidemic.

Thank you very much for treating me to an exciting duo and their ear pleasing mewsic. Have a wonderful weekend, Cathy!

Tom, Thanks for stopping by for during your intercession of Arrow. High Dive Heart has a mixed flavor, and like you, I love how they came to be as a couple – very sweet and cute. It’s cool that this duo is taking a stand against bullying. It’s a shame how horrible this issue has gotten out of hand. We had bullies but nothing like today. I guess there were too many nice behaved kids to keep them in place or they just don’t care to do anything. Anywho, great that you included me in your weekend, my friend. Have a good one!
