Just the thing to give us a chuckle going into the weekend. And Oingo Boingo to top things off. I’ve got the Dead Man’s Party CD but I haven’t listened to it in years. Nice to hear the title cut again.
It’s funny how it wasn’t until recent years that I knew who Oingo Boingo was but I wasn’t big on band names. “Dead Man’s Party” is a tune that sort of got lost in the corners of my mind. I can’t say with complete certainty that I actually remember it but I definitely remember their “Weird Science” theme song. However, I didn’t know the name of the group. 🙂 That’s embarrassing but it’s true.
Thanks, Sandee! I will visit asap. DH is off today and we hope to tackle the roof again before mire rain hits. It’s difficult locating a link when it’s not raining. We do the best we can and if it doesn’t work we’ll try again. However I hope this fix does the job. Thanks for visiting!
You reeled me in with another super fun post, dear friend!
Those cartoons made me laugh out loud. The sicker ones immediately reminded me of the wave of “sick humor” “sick comedy” and “sick jokes” that became a phenomenon in the late 1950s. I was a regular reader of Mad Magazine and occasionally bought copies of related mags including Cracked Magazine and Sick Magazine. I just read there were others including Crazy Magazine and Fooey Magazine.
It has been a long time since I thought about the LA based new wave band Oingo Boingo. The MTV station where I worked in the 80s played that video for “Dead Man’s Party” along with their earlier vid “Weird Science” – the theme song of the hit movie and TV series:
I was not a Mad magazine person or that brand of twisted humor. I just didn’t understand it. DH, on the other hand, loved Mad magazine. He’s very quick-witted which is something I admire. I always wished I could pull off a humorous punch line like him. I’m glad you enjoyed my sillies and I appreciated the YouTube vid. I remember the movie quite well and it’s one of those fun 80s films you don’t forget. Only from an adolescent boy’s mind can one conjure such an idea of making a girl! Everytime I think of this flick I think of this movie scene….

I loved all of these, but especially the one with the ghost mother going after her son with an iron.
Cathy Kennedy
John,
Yeah, I liked the mama ghost after her son. It sorta makes me think of my belated MIL. She would be this type of ghost. 🙂
