Friday Fun Stuff

Cat & Dog Humor plus #SWF

Purrs and hisses, Kittens & Dawgs!  My first full week back in Blogosphere has been ever bit that…full! I shared with you guys nearly every day and now I’m bushed. What’s with that?  The weekend is here, so let’s start things off with some laughs in today’s Friday Sillies!

For all, you photo enthusiasts and Skywatch Friday fans here is this week’s contribution!

Image capture somewhere near Waynesville, North Carolina with my iPhone 8 while taking in a quiet weekend drive

In the past, I’ve participated in Celebrate The Small Things hop but I’m going to put this one on hold for a bit longer. It’s hard to get back into the blogging groove all at once.  I will round things out with Friendly Fill-Ins hosted by  Ellen & Lorianne.

  1. September is the perfect month for thinking about all things autumn.
  2. This month, I am looking forward to the return of cooler weather.
  3. My morning routine always includes responding to comments and doing return visits over my morning coffee.
  4. I have a love-hate relationship with summer ending. One the one hand, I’m ready to say goodbye to the heat and on the other hand, I dread the thoughts of frigid conditions.

The Elderly Song (The Lazy Song Parody)

Although DH is working today I have lots on my plate. I am going to have a difficult time making rounds until early next week but I will get around to doing returns visits asap.  That all being said, I will share tomorrow my September 1st Battle of the Bands’ results, so I hope you’ll hop by to see if your favorite artist was picked and as always, you’re invited to hit the dance floor with me (theme: song picks about/being grandparents or growing old) on Mondays Mewsic Moves Me! Wow, what a beautiful scene in your photograph, Cathy! I love it. 🙂
I wish that I had colder weather to worry about, but it isn’t likely around here any time soon. You are so blessed to live in such a beautiful place!
    Have a blessed week.

      • Suzanne Gunter McClendon

Oh yes, it isn’t a rarity to have very warm Christmases here. I remember one Christmas Eve it was 89 degrees and we were at the beach. With all the rain lately, it has been somewhat cooler with some very hot moments (and a zillion mosquitoes!) mixed in.
        Have a blessed day. 🙂

          Suzanne,

There was one December a handful of years ago that it was super warm here, too. I only remember it because I saw several people wearing shorts and I thought that was the craziest thing. I hate mosquitoes!

        • Suzanne Gunter McClendon

Warm Decembers over your way would be the craziest thing. I can’t imagine that at all. Here, it is pretty typical, but back home? Just too weird!
I hate them, too, but they looooove me. 🙂
          Have a blessed day.

          Suzanne,

DD#2 told me mosquitoes love people with O-blood type. Did you know this? DH is O type and the mosquitoes love him whereas I’m AB. They do bother me but not like him. DD#2 is B. The mosquitoes don’t get her nearly as bad as they do her hubby who is… O type. That’s really interesting.

      Alana,

You’re freezing? I think it was last Thursday when I was speaking with DD#2. She said the temperature was 72º which was a lot cooler than what we were having and that sounded wonderful! The upper elevations of the mountains get some cooler temps in late summer which is always a welcome treat when we’re able to find ourselves enjoying it. This weekend wasn’t one of those times, though. Hopefully, we can soon. Here’s to cozy sweaters and hot cocoa weather returning soon!

      Mimi,

Yes, a break in the heat would be pAwesome! We’re forecast for a lot of rain today which will keep our temperature down but then things will warm back up again. 🙁 I’m looking forward to the first nips of fall!

  • 15andmeowing

Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. I am thinking all things Fall too 🙂 Cooler temps would be nice. Have a wonderful weekend. XO

      Ellen,

Everyone is ready for cooler weather. Next week’s forecast looks better than this week’s so I’m anxious for it to get here. The days are really zinging by, aren’t they?

  • Arlee Bird

I’m looking forward to cooler weather too. Not happening this weekend according to the forecasts. Around 100 degrees tomorrow. Come on 70 degree weather!

      Lee,

The temperatures in the southwest get ridiculous. Does southern California have low humidity like Arizona? I heard that helps a lot and doesn’t feel as bad as it does in the east where the temperatures are cooler but feel so horrible because of the humidity. I’m with you on the 70 degree weather arriving NOW!

  • L.M.G. Miller

Your funnies had me smiling and laughing. And thank you for joining in on the Friendly Fill-Ins! Autumn is my favorite season, so I am really looking forward to cooler weather and the beautiful fall colors. I really do hear you about those frigid winter conditions, though. I love Christmas, and I even think that snow is beautiful, but I just can’t handle being out in the cold. I don’t work from home, so the thought of heading outside in the frigid temps during the work week already makes me shiver. Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Lorraine,

I love the idea of a snowy, white Christmas but only if it stays with us just for the day! I don’t like the cold and thankfully I do not work outside the home so I don’t have to be out in the elements if I don’t wanna.

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Cathy,

I get a little silly sometimes. I don’t like it when the heat or AC goes on but it’s nice to have when you need it. I prefer the temps to remain so mild that neither is needed but that’s an unrealistic expectation for year round conditions.

      Jan,

Unfortunately, our weekend was anything but restful. The best we can hope for is to have a restful this coming weekend and trust me when I say, we’re ready for it! Thanks for popping by for a visit!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Jacqui,

I love pets but we don’t have any! I have dreams of one day getting an outdoor dog and a cat but we need a garage for them to sleep in when the weather gets too extreme and a place where they can roam without us worrying about them being in the road. Of course, cats can more easily escape fenced property but there’s little you can do about that unless you keep them indoors all the time. That’s not going to happen here with my allergies, though.

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Sandee,

I think most of us feel that way about summer unless you’re an absolute hater like DD#2. It’s funny how our two youngest kids love the cold weather whereas DH & I barely tolerate it. As we get older knowing just how quickly the seasons pass, we try to not wish them away but to enjoy what the Lord brings us. That’s often easier said than done with old human tendencies rearing at times. Thanks for visiting, my friend!

  • Birgit

Oh that cat with it’s baby is very cute. The dog holding the sock is very true and I do think Cats believe dogs are idiots..I disagree:) your picture of the rolling hills with the barn in the background is so inviting. I can’t wait for summer to end. They said it would be cooler today but it’s still muggy and I hate that so i am so looking forward to cooler temps! I love cold temps so I don’t mind winter at all. I love looking up things and having fun on the computer but hate it when it screws up as I have no clue how to fix it.

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Birgit,

I’m trying to not wish the summer away but I find it really difficult to not do especially while out in the heat & humidity. We’re expected to get a small break this week but next week looks more promising. I don’t know if cats really think dogs or anybody are idiots but that’s the look they wear. lol Computers can be your friends or they can be your worse enemy. I certainly understand your frustration as I’ve been there before plenty of times.

    Hi, Cathy!

I got a giggle from your Friday Sillies, dear friend!

The cartoon of the dog with a dirty sock in his mouth is a hoot. It reminds us of the difference in temperament between cats and dogs. Every once in a while, however, you will find a cat that acts more like a dog or a dog that acts more like a cat.

I love that picture you snapped in a rural area near Waynesville, North Carolina. Beyond the barb wire lies serenity. That’s a good metaphor.

“The Elderly Song” is cute and touches on many of the challenges older folks face. Our mission as we grow older is to meet those challenges head-on and stay youthful in mind and body.

This was lots of fun, Cathy. Thanks for for the early morning smiles. I wish you and DH a very happy weekend!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Tom,

Yeah, the dog with the dirty sock cartoon made me laugh and grin. 😀 I’m glad you liked the rural scenic shot. I didn’t realize the metaphor in my photo until you mentioned, “Beyond the barb wire lies serenity”. I really like that and it’s precisely how I felt looking past the barbed wire. Thanks for stopping in on Friday. I’m playing catchup this morning after a VERY full and tiring weekend. I’ll see ya soon at your place!
