Monday's Music Moves Me

Dreams & Hopes for Tomorrow

Thank you for joining Mondays Music Moves Me. In honor of the late Martin Luther King, Jr, I thought it would be nice to set this week’s theme by building our song picks around visions, dreams, and hopes for a better tomorrow

Originally, when I began composing this post, I found an extensive playlist that works with songs of hope and inspiration.   My vision for the new year pertaining to blogging is to make things less cumbersome and more easy going because this is important to me.  Your friendships are an essential part of my life that I can’t imagine being without.  However, I need to spend more time away from the computer to do other things for a fresher, more energized me.

For this year, I want to choose song lyrics when I can that speak to me in the moment. In today’s song feature, I underscored the portion of the lyrics that grabbed me.

I look around at a beautiful life
I’ve been the upper side of down, been the inside of out
But we breathe
We breathe
I want a breeze and an open mind
I wanna swim in the ocean, wanna take my time
For me
All me

Steerophonics “Maybe Tomorrow”

My hope for 2024 is to live more in the present to exercise, sketch, cook, organize, or whatever I want to in the moment. My goal is to give myself permission to step away from things if it creates more stress than joy.  I know there will be moments I can’t but when I can then that’s what I will do.

This is a music link up.  Your post must contain at least one song or your URL is marked “No Music” and possibly deleted.

4M co-hostess are featured in my right side bar underneath the banner. The guidelines are simple.  Every other week, a suggested (not mandatory) theme is given to build your song picks. YouTube and other music sites have options to create and embed playlists or individual songs into your post. On the off weeks, we dance to whatever music moves you (your choice)! To access the party, add your music post below, and visit others on the dance floor. Let the party begin!

We have themes booked through the end of March and although I declared 2024 the year of Whatever Music Moves You, I know some people prefer the structure and challenge a music prompt offers.  Tell us what you what you’d like to hear on the dance floor.  Stump our brains, make us insane, it’s all a fun game, so send your ideas via email!

Up next is a new edition of Thursday Art Date.  Come on by if you’re hanging around the cyberblock. That’s it for now, have a boogietastic week! X💋X💋, Cathy

Thanks for letting me know about the expected service interruption, Cathy. No hurry. That post will be running several weeks.

Yessum, we got 2 or 3 inches of snow this week and more might be coming on Friday. When I arose at 7 this morning, the temperature outside was 12 degrees following an overnight low of 11. It was, by far, the coldest temperature I have experienced in more than 30 years. I went outside with only a light jacket on, just so that I could feel (remember) what 12 degrees feels like. There was no wind blowing, and it felt delightful. I am truly enjoying the cold weather up here. Our neighbor built a snowman!

I’ll be back here to see you again tomorrow, dear friend Cathy!

      Tom,

I bet experiencing winter again after three decades makes you feel like a kid. Our daughter sent a couple of pictures of our LA playing in the snow. She’s snowed in at her daddy’s place. You can see the excitement on her little face and lovin’ every minute of it. Our son sent a picture of our grandson, LA2’s first experience in the snow. He’s really too small to know the thrills of his cousin but that’ll change soon enough. Stay warm and safe, my friend!

    Hi, Cathy!

A belated happy new year to you, dear friend, along with a belated happy (and pawsome) 4M Monday!

Awww… I wish I could smooch the snow off that kitty’s noggin!

I am here to see you today and to let you know that I am set to resume blogging tomorrow, Thursday, with my first post of 2024, at which time I will also return to CAAC to view your Art Date With Rain. I love what you did with this week’s 4M theme. Thank you for introducing the Welsh rock band Stereophonics and their 2003 hit single “Maybe Tomorrow.” I read that the track was used in the 2004 films Wicker Park and Crash. The music video works well presented in a black & white format.

As you know, I can totally relate to what you have expressed here about the need to tap the brakes and withdraw a bit from the pressures of blogging and other pursuits that might have become more of a chore than a pleasure. You have been hinting about this change for quite some time now. It can be a gradual process, as it was for me, but I find that I am much happier now that I have reduced my blogging activity. My days remain active and full. The only difference is that now I have the satisfaction of getting a lot more accomplished while maintaining solid friendships with wonderful people like you.

I hope you and your family are well and in good spirits. If possible, swing by Shady’s Place this Thursday, Friday or Saturday as I kick-off a new year of blogging, albeit on a reduced schedule. Blessings to you, dear friend Cathy!

      Tom,

Good morning, my friend! I say by now you got snow after years of only living in your dreams. We got our first in a long while big snowfall. By Tuesday morning, we had 10-12 inches of fluff on the ground. Our street covered over with hardly an signs of traffic impressed upon the wintry splendor. It’s so chilly here this morning. We dipped to just below 5º which is much than the original forecast of -3º we were expecting. I’m glad that didn’t happen. Our highs have yet to get above freezing and will remain fruitless until Monday at the earliest. I’ve never been a fan of the cold and will be tickled to get the warmer temperatures next week.

I’m glad you’re enjoying your reduced blogging schedule to do other things. That’s what I working toward. It certainly will be a gradual withdrawal overtime but who knows maybe in doing so I’ll figure out a way to do everything I want more effectively and joyfully. We’ll see how things develop.

I’m glad you liked Stereophonics. I didn’t read anything on them, so I appreciated you sharing what you learned. Thanks for informing me of your upcoming post tomorrow. Let me tell you this that tomorrow Xfinity has maintenance scheduled as they’re upgrading their services to a faster network which may knock out our Internet all day. I will my best to visit you as soon as possible.

Have a boogietastic week, my friend!

If we don’t think of ourselves first then who will? So many times we put ourselves last, which never ends well. We hear you and support whatever decisions are best for you. Nice tune; new to me. Alana ramblinwitham

You’re right, who will take care of us if we don’t do it? Everyone is so wonderful. I feel such love and support. Thank you for being such a good friend, Alana! xo

Such a pretty song, and I love the good-natured cat with snow on his head.
Every time I visit your site I’m reminded of one of my most favorite stomping grounds: the card aisle at any neighborhood CVS, Walgreens or Hallmark store. You meet the nicest people there, you know? In fact, right before Christmas a woman came skittering around the corner from two aisles over – having been summoned by my laughter at a card I’d read – I’m easily entertained 😉 It warmed my heart to hear her say my laughter was the most joyous sound she’d heard all season. Happiness is so easily achieved I don’t know why we all don’t choose it more often.
Take real good care of you – for all of us who love you 😉

    • Cathy Kennedy

I’m with you on choosing happiness. The world would be a nicer place if we walked around with smiles on our faces and laughter in our heart. 🙂 Thanks for dropping for a visit, my friend!

    • Cathy Kennedy

That’s good. I want others to do the same. We need to take time for ourselves instead of feeling like we have to do everything else. When we take the time do what we love then it gives us a burst of new energy and that’s what I need!

  • Sandee

A huge Awww on that beautiful cat.

Love your wishes for this year. I’m with you.

    Your playlist is perfect.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week, Cathy. Hugs. ♥

  • My GBGV Life

Such a sweet photo. Your goals for 2024 are wonderful. It is hard to do things sometimes with all the pressure to do others. Putting yourself and what you would like to do is important. Even work can be enjoyable and when it isn’t going well, take a break and then start again. Best wishes for a Grand 2024!

    • Cathy Kennedy

Thank you, thank you! It’s so nice that my bloggy friends understand this and encourage me to seek this path. Really, we all should. Have a blessed new year, my dear!

I love your song choice ‘Maybe tomorrow’. I think you are spot on with your hopes and goals for the coming year! Send love and hoping you have a good week.🎶🎶

  • Marie

Awwww Your kitty is too sweet! Your tune I never heard before, but you’re rockin’ my sweet lady! I love the tune… I remember when you’d hear songs and I’ll be dang if I could understand the words, but now ou can… So cool! hahaha I hope you can stick around a tad, but if you do leave could you let me know for a while. Thanks my dearest friend. HUGS & HAVE A GREAT DAY!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Marie,

Don’t worry about a thing, darlin’! I’m not planning on disappearing on you. I believe I put my thoughts out there on what I want to do then it mentally releases the obligation I put on myself. I think everyone does it. What I’m finding is in doing so it takes a weight off my mind and actually allowing me to see new ways to do things. Only time will tell but you don’t need to worry. I’m here for you!

  • Debbie D.

I get where you’re coming from, Cathy, and also struggle to find the perfect balance. Blogging buddies are pretty loyal, though, and they’ll support whatever you decide to do. Thanks for your friendship all these years! 🙂 Good song and a cute kitty too. Have a good week!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Debbie,

You’re right about blogger friends being loyal. I’m discovering new ways to ease some of the tense I had put on myself. It’s funny how letting others know that I’ve given myself permission to not do as much as before has actually made me feel fresher already. 🙂 Now, like I told Marie, don’t worry I’m not going anywhere just yet and thank you for your friendship!

    • Cathy Kennedy

Ahhh, thanks! I hope y’all do the same. It sure is cold here. Currently it is 27.5º. There’s a little snow on the ground but it’s expected to be snowy and with falling temperatures all day. I’m so ready for spring!

      • Birgit Bedesky

I think we need to live more simply and enjoy the small things like your art, your pictures and each other. We do need dreams, hopes and wishes. Love that pussy cat

        • Cathy Kennedy

          Birgit,

I agree, a simply lifestyle is healthy living. Absolutely, we do need dreams, hopes, and wishes. That gives us something to look forward to maybe it’ll happen and then maybe not, but it fills you will hope. 🙂
