Day 18: S.a.D Mistletoe and Wine

Christmas greetings!  For the month of December, I plan to share a Christmas song each day with the hope of adding a little extra cheer to your holiday.  Part of my challenge in this series is to bring to you a new-to-me song or artist discoveries.  There’s no telling what song pick I’ll go with but you’ll find artists from all genres celebrating in song this almost magical, holy season.

In an online source of UK forgotten Christmas songs, I came across Santa’s List by Cliff Richard but then I noticed on YouTube Cliff had a #1 hit in 1988 in UK and Ireland.  Wiki lists the song’s European and Australia stats but nothing from the US, does this mean it never made it here?   If this one is new to you, as well them please allow me to introduce Mistletoe and Wine to you!

Don’t even worry with leaving a comment. This is for your enjoyment.  There’s no worries or fuss or strings attached. Simply a moment for you to unwind and refresh your mind and body. 😉

I’ll be here with bells on tomorrow morning with another Christmas song waiting to start your day and please don’t let the hustle of the holiday weigh you down.  The holiday festivities are beautiful and fun but the true reason warms the heart better than these earthly things. Take time to bask in God’s great love.   It’s the most wonderful time of the year! X💋X💋, Cathy

    Hi, Cathy!

Happy Songsuasion Saturday and S. a. D. #18, dear friend!

I very much enjoyed this seasonal song and video by English singing star Cliff Richard, and I just spent an hour looking through Cliff’s discography and checking his list of U.S. releases. He has released considerably more singles in the UK and Europe than here in the states. I read that Cliff has been closely associated with the Christmas season ever since “The Millennium Prayer,” a song he recorded for charity, was released as a single near the end of 1999 and became a surprise hit, topping the UK chart and riding high on the charts in 20+ European countries.

I looked it up and found that the song you posted, “Mistletoe And Wine,” was first released by Cliff in November, 1988, as the A side of a holiday single. It shot to #1 on the UK chart. It was again released at Christmas time 1990 as the B side of a single with his 1990 #1 hit “Saviours Day” as the A side. In 2003, it was released along with “Santa’s List” (a top 5 hit), “Saviours Day” and “The Millennium Prayer” on the album Cliff at Christmas. “Mistletoe And Wine” is a wonderful song and video. The words to the song suggest that this is a time of year to “let hating and fighting cease.” My question is, if we can stop hating and fighting every December, why not do the same the rest of the year? We already proved we can do it, so then why fall back into a destructive pattern of behavior when we know we’re better than that?

Thank you for the Saturday smiles and uplifting mewsic, dear friend Cathy. have a safe and happy weekend!
