Random Tuesday Thoughts

Daughter’s Mishap Again to Difference Between the Sexes

My entire brain feels like a random mess. You’d think this would make my job a tat easier to compose a post for Random Tuesday, but it doesn’t.  In fact, it’s more difficult because I have to pull my random thoughts together to at least put them in a sensible fashion for those who are reading this post.  I mean, after all, we don’t read in random order, do we?  Okay…some people do, I will admit.

One such person who reads in a bit of a random(on purpose) pattern is my youngest daughter.  She told me once, she always reads the end of a book before she begins and I’m like, “Why? That spoils the read.”  Her answer was, “I want to find out how it ends before I read it.” I think that’s just crazy but to each her own.

Speaking of my youngest daughter, last night I got a text. She said she had just come from the ER.  I don’t have the all the details other than a lens she was working on shattered and it lodged beneath her skin (on her arm). They didn’t stitch her up instead they applied a clear liquid to seal the cut.  This sort of thing could only happen to her.  This child is so accident prone that it isn’t even funny.  If only you knew half of the things she’s braved with far less injury than otherwise would’ve been.  I believe God’s angels work OT 24/7 with her.

My oldest daughter always thought her little sister was kind of cool with all the mishaps she met and secretly…well that’s not true, she actually told me once that she wished her life was more exciting like her sisters.  I know more craziness, right?  I must have dropped this child on her head to utter such ridiculousness, but then again, this was out of the mouth of someone who once was a teenager and whose not a teenager anymore.  I wonder if she still craves excitement?  She’s made her own excitement when it didn’t just fall into her lap like her sister, but that was even scarier because it was a deliberate act for  thrills which might have gone terribly, terribly wrong. I’m sure the angels God has given charge over her are demanding a pay increase.

The only level-headed child I have is my son or so it seems.  He may be fooling me, but he doesn’t say things or tell me of things which turn on a siren of panic. His life is pretty calm for the most part.  I’m really thankful, too.  Raising girls and boys are like two different animals.  Don’t let anyone mislead you into thinking girls are the least offensive in deeds. I know from my own personal experience, I was a handful at times for my parents, as was my sister.

Why do you suppose this is? My theory is this, society has taught young girls since the 60s that girls can do anything boys can, which says, “I can be as obnoxious, disgusting, and reckless as a boy.”  Just look around you, girls aren’t nearly as feminine as they use to be because of their teachings to act like the opposite sex.

What’s wrong with being a girl… I mean, a woman whose lady-like anyhow?  Nothing as far as I can tell.  In fact, I’m told men are more drawn to women who are soft and feminine than those who have less flattering characteristics.  I’m also told men think femininity is sexy.  I get that.

Don’t get me wrong, I believe women are equal to men, but in different ways. Women are just as smart as men, but I’ve learned women are often more receptive(sensitive) to others needs, especially the needs of their children.  I believe this a God-given character trait placed in the softer sex.  Gals may not be physically strong as guys, but women are stronger than men when it comes to handling pain.  A man’s role is to be the head of the household, but it’s the woman’s job to build her family, including her husband. This in many ways gives her more power over her husband than the Bible.  Look at what happened in the Garden of Eden, Adam sided with Eve listening to her wishes to eat of the forbidden fruit.  It’s up to a woman to make wise decisions so to not tear down her family/husband.

My Random Tuesday thoughts have taken a twist I didn’t see coming.  The bottom line I’m trying to get at is, a marriage is a partnership.  Husbands are to love their wives more than they love themselves.  A husband is to place his wife above himself and like turn a wife is good, nurturing woman who has only the best interest for her husband no bitterness or ill-will. (Ephesians 5:25-33)

I talk to a professor in our department about books and she does the same thing: reads the end first. I totally don’t understand it.

I read that way a lot–I have to know the end and then can read the rest of the book.  Weird, but it’s what I do.
I think men and women are equal but very very different.

Exactly! It would ruin it for me, as well.  Like I said, my daughter is crazy…maybe she inherited that from me….nah has to be from her dad. But, honestly though skipping to the end is a bit nuts. Daughter…if you’re reading this comment then know I call you nuts in the most affectionate of ways. =D
