Cheers, It’s Christmas #BlakeShelton #music

Good-morning, kittens & dawgs! On Tuesday I kicked off a new-to-me music discovery and I decided to continue this approach for December each Thursday, as well. So it’s gonna be a whole month of Christmas mewsic. No bah-hum-bugs allowed so if you’re not onboard then move on Scrooge! Today’s featured artist/album is… Blake Shelton – Cheers, it’s Christmas!

      Birgit,

Which song or is all of Blake’s songs you don’t care too much for? Just curious to know is all. I like it simply because it is different but I also like Blake. He’s a very likable guy.

Sorry but it’s all his songs as I am not into country for the most part. I like Johnny Cash and then a few here and there. Oh well, can’t win ‘em All.

          Birgit,

I’m not a huge country mewsic fan but I’ve grown to like it more over the years even the old twangy stuff. I totally get ya and we all can’t like the same kind of mewsic anyhow, right?

It’s nice to hear the usual songs sung with a different voice than what they play on the radio. It makes me listen a bit more closely. Happy Thursday!

      Mimi,

I like the variations and over the years I’ve grown more fond of country mewsic. The newer sound is better than what we grew up listening to, don’t you agree?

    Good morning, Cathy!

At this time of year I am used to hearing traditional seasonal songs performed by pop crooners like Bing, Nat, Andy Williams, etc. My ears appreciated this refreshing change to Christmas country style. It was a pleasure to listen to an artist I don’t hear very often, Blake Shelton. I enjoyed Blake’s duet with Reba McEntire on “Oklahoma Christmas,” a song I never heard before. I also liked three other new to me songs: “Let It Snow,” “New Kid In Town feat. Kelly Clarkson, and “Santa’s Got a Choo Choo Train.” Blake also performed a marvelous rendition of “Blue Christmas.” Blake’s vocals are rich and pure. I always use headphones to listen to mewsic and highly recommend them. As you know I enjoy country music even though I am not exposed to it very often. That is going to change. The rudder is turning and I am getting more interested in country, rockabilly and early rock ‘n’ roll which is rooted in country. In the future I will be presenting those styles of mewsic more often on SDMM.

Thank you very much for this delightful morning concert, dear friend Cathy. Enjoy your Thursday!

      Tom,

I don’t listen to nearly enough country mewsic but I’ve found over the years that I like it more than I did as a kid. Of course, the new country isn’t like what I heard growing up and that may account for why I like it more now. Anywho, I love the variety of mewsic styles through the holiday season because honestly there is only so much of the traditional sounds. I love it but I really like mixing things up to put a little spice in my Christmas. Thanks for letting me know how much you enjoyed Blake Shelton’s “Cheers, It’s Christmas” album. The week is nearly gone, my friend. I hope you have a good day!
