Thursday Art Date

Candles TAD

On the occasion I have two posts to publish on the same day and one being BOTB, then I usually set it to go live at 12am.  So, if you’re looking for my current battle, then you’ll find a link to it in my side bar under “Current Headline News”.  Don’t rush off, you may as well check this out! 😘

My candle lantern Procreate painting

When I learned of Rain’s “Candles” TAD prompt, my mind drifted back to my junior high school days.  I vaguely recall taking art.  I don’t know if it was required or we had a choose of electives. Candles was one of the subjects given for us to draw. I can’t tell you for sure if we had the assignment close to the holidays but I always think of Christmas when I think of candles and this memory.

I used my Procreate design in Pixelmator creating three different moods and my final image is a Brushstrokes recreation.

I have other art “candle” sketch ideas in mind.  Time didn’t allow me to do more but I am going to do them.  I appreciate the flame Rain puts inside me to create.

I haven’t done much new creating in the kitchen but it doesn’t mean I’m not repeating tried and true recipes I’ve gotten down pat like homemade sausage and onion pizza or any other pizza variety pies.  I wanted to make shortbread over Christmas,  unfortunately that didn’t happen.  I did make a batch the last weekend in December.  I found a Walker’s Scottish Shortbread Cookie copy-cat recipe. I’ve made shortbread cookies before but this recipe is better than the one I use and is now a new favorite. The author of the site has recipes dedicated to most major holidays and I plan to look for more tempting recipes to try.

This week I’m thankful that I got a dental appointment set up.  My pain at the moment is dull and tolerable. I’m thankful despite DH’s pending dental work he doesn’t experience pain.  I’m thankful my son thinks its important to spend special time with his little mommy. He’s a good boy!  I’m thankful DD#2 has a caring, considerate, and loving fiance.  He’s such a good support for her being so far from home.  His family is now hers.  I’m thankful that DD#2 loves to bake goodies to share with us.  We got a lovely box filled with delicious treats made with her sweet hands. 🙂  I’m thankful for DD#1’s frequent texts, pix, and calls.  It’s so nice to stay in touch with the kids! I’m very thankful DD#1’s recent injuries to her knee and ankle turned out to be just bad sprains.  It could’ve been worse.

What are you thankful for?

Lovely candle artwork, I think my favourite is the orange overlay! It’s amazing how a program can really recreate brushstrokes! That one looks like an acrylic painting! Well done Cathy! I hope you can get to the dentist soon if you already haven’t!!! ♥

      Rain,

The orange overlay gives my drawing a warmer essence. The Brushstrokes app is amazing! It gives me want I want for the moment, the ability to paint without the investment of paint, brushes, … Someday, I really would like to try really painting, though. 🙂 Thanks for visiting, dearie!

Loving your candle pictures and I like the 3rd one a lot but also the original. I’m Thankful for my job. I work by myself and it works well. Long days but I’m working

      Birgit,

Drawing the Christmasy candle lantern made me yearn for the holidays again. 🙂 It’s good to know you’re thankful for your job. Everyone should be regardless of what they do and if they don’t like their employer, position, field, …, then do something about it but never lose an appreciation for having a job. Some people want to work and can’t find employment. It’s really frustrating to be in that boat. Long days are hard but I know you’re grateful and that speaks volumes! Thanks for visiting, my dear!

I enjoyed your candles and things you are thankful for, Cathy. I am very thankful to be alive and enjoying life. Thanks for the Walkers Scottish Shortbread Cookie copycat recipe. I bookmarked it. Have a lovely weekend!

All versions of your candle are lovely, but I like the original one at the top of your post the best.

Sounds like you have a great relationship with your kids, Cathy. That’s wonderful!

Right now, I’m thankful that our winter has been relatively easy, with almost no snow, so far. There was a cold spell in January, but it’s been above freezing for several days now. Yay!

Thanks for the CCR tune – love it!

      Debbie,

The original Procreate Christmasy candle is my favorite, too. The recreations are fun to make and share. I sneaked the candle in the window in at the last minute when I was doing this post. 🙂

We have a good relationship with our kids. They have grown into fine adults. It’s so wonderful that two of our children have children of their own. The grandkids remind us of our once little children. The best part is we don’t have to put in long hours of sleepless nights and we get to see the best side of our grandchildren. No wonder my late in-laws always spoke so highly of ours. Not that they didn’t deserve it but as I said parents see the worse side at every phase and it’s difficult to enjoy the moments when you’re living in it. 🙂

I’m glad your winter has been mild. Ours has been for the most part with the except of two weeks ago. I hope we don’t see anymore nasty weather.
