BEATLES GREATEST HITS Series Results: “Help!” BOTB Showdown

Peter Sellers vicar character recital of the Beatles’s song, “Help!” made me giggle.  It didn’t have a place in the battle round, so I held off sharing it for today.  I hope it made you smile.  I want to give out special thanks to everyone who took time to vote in my lengthy battle.

I kept a running tally in comments. Here is the final count…

Tina Turner – 5  ⭐️First pair WINNER!⭐️    Vs. John Farnham – 4

Deep Purple – 6 ⭐️Second pair WINNER!⭐️    Vs. Krokus – 4

Amanada Castro Band – 7  ⭐️Third pair WINNER!⭐️   Vs. Honest Men – 5

Only a handful of you declared an over-all best of the six. Amanda Castro Band (2), Krokus (1), and Honest Men (1).

Peter Sellers is hilarious! Reminds me when Steve Allen was onthe Tonight Show and he recited” Twist and Shout”..that was very funny too.
I thinking voted for Deep Purpke overall but I have to doubt check

      Birgit,

Yes, it appears you did pick Deep Purple for an overall best. I reckon another one slipped passed me. I really bit off too much with this battle. I probably won’t try to do something this complex again…at least not anytime soon. lol I will have to look for Steve Allen’s “Twist and Shout” recital. Covering songs like that is really a hoot!

Sheesh! That Peter Sellers recording makes me think that we need a BOTB installment pitting Sellers’ ‘Help’ versus William Shatner’s ‘Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds’. What a hoot that would be!

All three of your musical sets ended up being extremely close races, so I would say you matched them up very, very well.

See you no later than September, my friend!

      Stephen,

I thought the same thing when I came across Peter Seller’s “Help!” cover. I have plans to use “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds” early next year but William Shatner didn’t make the cut to be on center stage. I was thinking it would be fun to share his version in the results post, though. The pairs were closely matched. I always doubt myself when I put singers against each other. I’m happy about that. Thanks for checkin’ in, my friend. I’ll see ya next month if not before!

        Hmmm…. Ah say, Hmmm….
I may just have to do that Sellers / Shatner match-up then. It’s too ridiculously funny not to be done. ;^D

I’m thinking it’ll make a great April Fool’s Day Battle next year… if’n we haven’t been killed or Raptured yet. 😉

          Stephen,

Sounds like a great plan. Between the two scenarios that might keep you or I from following through with our BOTBs, I take the later. 🙂 The world is in such a sorry mess. I wonder how much longer will it be before His return. I remember as a kid old timers wondering the same thing. Our time table is definitely different from the Almighty’s. All we can do is just be ready to leave this life stamped by the blood of the lamb.

Looks like I was the only one who picked Krokus over all. Always the rebel, eh? 😉 This was an interesting battle but a little confusing. Amanda Castro has a fun, retro sound.

P.S. Finally got my results post up, after a technical glitch.

      Debbie,

It’s good to have at least one rebel in the bunch to keep things interesting. 🙂 Amanda Castro does have an interesting sound. I’m heading your way. Thanks for dropping by, my dear!

      Brian,

My bloggy buddy at Shady’s Place Memories and Music introduced The MonaLisa Twins to me. I’m not sure that I knew they covered The Beatles songs but they have a lot of them on their YT channel. Perhaps, I can use these girls in a future battle. 🙂 Thanks for planting the idea in my head!

I was in the minority for the most part, but at least I cast my vote for winner Deep Purple (and my vote wasn’t shown above) . I probably should have listed by votes more clearly I guess.

    Lee

    • Cathy Kennedy

Oh good heaven, you’re so right, Lee! I’m truly sorry for not logging your votes. I think what happened is I mis-read your comment thinking you were only casting a vote for Honest Men. Your vote for Deep Purple put them neck and neck with Amanda Castro Band. I don’t think I’ll ever put six contenders up like this again. lol There’s a lot going in my head right now, so I think I really had too much trouble keeping things straight. This goof is entirely my fault not yours, my friend. Thanks for bringing it to my attention and for checking things out.
