Wordless Wednesday

Bean Better #WW

Bean Better

Scribble Picnic is a BI-weekly art challenge hosted by Michael MacVean.  However this is an off-week, so there are no prompts. I decided sometime last year to use this slot to showcase my art sketches on occasions when I came up empty-handed with a photo share op.

I began my iPad Procreate sketch with my coffee BEAN design and I thought about last month’s mishap with my leg when I came up with ‘BEAN BETTER’.  A couple of BRILLIANT phrases I came up are ‘BEAN fun’ and ‘I’ve BEAN missing you’. I checked with Google to make sure these are originals but the latter one revealed that someone BEAT me to the punch. BOO-HOO! 🙁

Speaking of BEAN, have you seen the films starring the BRITISH actor, Rowan Atkinson, Mr. Bean’s Holiday and Bean: The Ultimate Disaster Movie?  We watched both of these during the holiday season.  We did some BROU-HA-HA-ING, folks. These are seriously gut-BUSTING funny movies. If you subscribe to Netflix streaming then you can watch BOTH of them now.

Let me reshare with you this iPhone capture from last September  which works BEAUTIFULLY  —  coffee BEANS

My linky party is open to all regardless of what kind of post you have as long as you’re a personal blogger.  All commercial websites, advertisers, or other spammy, non-fun links are subjected to immediate termination by the linky hostess!

Oops Cathy, wondering where my comment disappeared. I had posted last week itself.

Any which way, hope you had a fabulous last week. Your coffee bean sketch is stunning to say the least, and coffee is the elixir of my life, though I don’t drink more than a mug every day. I’ve noticed in my middle age (I’m 46) I’m less tolerant to excessive food, excessive tea/coffee or anything over the top; even excessive (toxic) people. Lol! Good for me. Bringing in more balance to my life.

Whoops, sorry to have steered the conversation in a different direction, but absolutely thrilled to have you link up with us. I added my linky to yours too.

Have a fabulous new week! Sparkle and shine. 🙂

      Natasha,

Hmm, I wonder what became of your comment, too. However, I’ve noticed my comments get eaten by cyberspace on occasions. I’m just delighted you came back.:) BTW, good for you for not tolerating toxic people. I think that’s worse than the toxic foods in many ways for us. I appreciate your kind words and I hope to see you often on my site. Have a pAwesome week! 😉

I remember when I was a kid and my Mom would got to the store and pick out the coffee beans for my dad & grind them herself & put them in a bag & off we’d go. My dad was a real coffee drinker he was. He would’ve loved this shop for sure. Hmmm Nice sketch? Nahhhhhh GREAT SKETCH my friend… but bigger is always BETTER! ~HEHEHE~ Who luvs ya girlfriend!!! Well, therapy has stopped until after my shot which is the 24th and then we shall resume! It’s been hectic these last few days to say the least. I’m pooped and off to bed… sweet dreams my dear friend… and big hugs!!!

      Marie,

We used to grind our beans in the early years but that gets tiresome especially when you use a manual grinder. These days we just get it already ground but the fresher stuff is hundred times better IF it’s good quality. Thanks for stopping by, my dear. I’m sorry to hear you’re so BEAT!

  • Veronica Lee

My family loves Mr Bean! Yep, we have watched all his movies and his tv shows. But I’m not a fan of Johnny English. I only love Rowan Atkinson as Mr Bean!

Haha! Today I did a post of mung BEAN sprouts!

Have you BEAN to my blog yet? LOL!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Veronica,

I remember liking Johnny English but we only saw one movie and that might be the first one. I don’t recall a whole lot about it but it did provide some laughs, how much laughter my brain is fuzzy on that score but the Bean movies had me LOL throughout the films. That’s interesting your post is about a different kind of bean. 🙂

  • Memories of Eric and Flynn

I love the smell of coffee beans!
Mr. Bean is hilarious and one of very few actors who can really make me laugh until my face aches.

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Steve,

You had to throw one a ten dollar word at (pirouetting)! I’m so glad to have a dictionary at my fingertips. 🙂 I feel a smidgen smarter now. Thanks for piquing my curiosity!

      Carmen,

I apologize for not responding to your comment before now but somehow I missed a few. smack forehead Anyhow, thank you for the visit and your kind words. 🙂

It’s bean so nice reading you and I like your sketch! I have a Cat named Beanie (Sabine) …Sabine as in Griffin and Sabine – cool books from long ago – And at one time the original Sabine’s brother I had named Griffin but he’s gone as is original Sabine. ….lnow is Beanie #2 .. Nice photo too! I’ve thought about Scribble Picnic and thought to join a few times but when I commit to something it usually flops.

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Sandy,

I understand about commitment. It seems no sooner that you tie yourself to something, then everything seems to stand in your way to keep you from finishing what you started. I’ve been there done that plenty of times with these blog hops but once I got passed feeling the pressure of the challenge and just went at with fun in mind then the commitment part isn’t as scary as it once was and if I can’t do then I can’t do it. Life goes on. I think you’ll like being involved in a community of other artists drawing (total pun intended) inspiration and feedback from the group. We’re here if you ever wish to join in! BTW, I’m sorry for just responding. I got sidetracked no doubt. 🙂

    Hi Cathy 🙂
I love your bean illustration! We are big fans of Mr. Bean. We watch the old tv shows over and over, they never get old. They are a lot funnier than the movies if you can find them! I’ve bean sitting here watching the snow fall today! 🙂

  • Jacqui Murray

It seems like you use drawing the same way I use reading–to escape, calm yourself, balance your perspective. I always think of art as work. You are changing my thinking.

  • 15andmeowing

That is a great drawing. I havwen’t seen those movies, I will have to check them out. Thanks for hosting. Hope you have a wonderful day! XO

  • Ronel Janse van Vuuren

I think the bag of coffee beans might last me a month… LOL. The Mr Bean movies are hilarious. Love the title on the mug 🙂

    • Cathy Kennedy

Ahhh, so you’ve seen the Bean movies? They are hilarious, aren’t they? I was glad that we watched them and hope to find more. The same actor was in the movie, “Johnny English” where he plays a spy. Have you seen it? Thanks for dropping by for a visit, Ronel!

      • Ronel Janse van Vuuren

I think Rowan Atkinson is hilarious! I love his movies — and I do think that Johnny English is a better portrayal of what it is to be a spy than James Bond (but that’s just me). Did you see the Mr Bean TV series? It showed on local television decades ago (I grew up with it, LOL).

  • Thomas Anderson

    Hi, Cathy!

Happy Almost Wordless Wednesday + Scribble Picnic Hop Day, dear friend!

I think you’re well on your way to bean a famous artist someday. 🙂 I like your sketch of the bean bag and the steaming mug of java. The overflowing scoop and the sign on the wall are nice touches, too, and it looks like somebody “spilled the beans” because I see a few scattered around. 🙂 I can imagine the delightful aroma that greeted your nose when you walked into that coffee shop in the picture.

Yessum, I am familiar with Rowan Atkinson’s character Mr. Bean, Britain’s answer to Mr. Monk. Mrs. Shady loves British comedy and she watched the entire Mr. Bean TV series of the early and mid 90s a few years ago. I caught a few episodes with her. I don’t know if she has watched the feature films but, from now on, I’m bean on the lookout for them. 🙂

I always enjoy coming here to CAAC and bean entertained and amused. 🙂 Thank you, dear friend Cathy!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Tom,

I think the Bean TV series is on Netflix or Amazon Prime. I may have to add it to our watch next cue. Oh, yes the coffee shop did smell delightful! They also roast their own beans but at another facility a few buildings away. I bet it smells fabulous in town when they are roasting beans. Thank you for your words of praise and encouragement with my sketch. I’m sure the only fame I will rise to in this life will be only in my mind but it would be pAwesome if I ever got to the point where I can illustrate a few of my children’s stories. We’ll see. Thanks for visiting today, my friend.

  • Debbie D.

Hi Cathy! A sackful of coffee beans that size will last a long time. 🙂 Nice sketch and a clever play on words, too! I hope your leg is healing quickly. Happy #WW!
