A-Z Challenge

#AtoZChallenge Creating iPad Art Sketches Letter ‘U’

Hello, Kitten & Dawgs, Last year, I proudly shared a sketch of my dark unicorn.  In today’s original I stopped with a simple illustration of a girl fighting her umbrella during a rain storm with my iPad, Apple pencil, and drawing app Procreate.

Adding a couple of extra layers, I slipped behind the girl a city street below and darkened the background to make the weather moodier.

April’s weather is usually rainy but it’s also been windier and cooler than usual. Are there clouds overhead today? Will it rain? Do you have blue skies over you?

[tweetthis]Check out today’s #atozchallenge iPad #art sketch with “U” is for #Umbrella. #music[/tweetthis]

I found this cute cover of Rhinna’s ‘Umbrella’ that seemed a better suit for my illustration.

Umbrellas are so hard to draw! Good job!

I’m in sunny California, but it’s not so sunny today. It’s cloudy with no rain. What a rip off! We need rain.

The mewsic themes blog prompts sound interesting. I’m going to check it out. So much for working… lol

      Kimberly,

I wanted to sketch an umbrella last year but shied away from the project for some reason. Maybe I felt it was too difficult, so this time I just did it fearless of the outcome good or bad. Thank you for saying I did a good job. 🙂

We’ve had our share of rain last month and wind. April was windier than usual which seemed odd to us. It’s been really nice this week with Mr. Blue Skies hanging over our heads. I love it!

Oh, goody! That would be fabulous if you decided to join the 4M gang on Mondays!*clap hands* We love having mewsic enthusiasts dance with us. Have a great day!

We have been blessed with sunshine today. Wow, Mom Nature, I am impressed! Cute drawing and you captured the moody weather in the second one.

I like her boots, too. DH bought me the cutest pair of white boots back in the winter but I haven’t wore them yet. I’d love to get a pair that comes over the knee! I’m happy to know my fashion sense is showing in my artwork. 🙂

Wow! That’s fabulous! I love to create, but I’m not an artist. I create in other ways. Thanks for coming by my blog and giving me some encouragement. I will be adding more activity starting tomorrow, but yesterday and today as my body is adjusting to the lack of carbs and sugar (not ALL carbs, just some but almost all sugar), I have just been exhausted and fighting headaches. I’m hoping my body will adjust sooner rather than later. And I am really not hungry because I’m not starving myself. I do feel deprived, but that’s all in my head. And I do drink TONS of water. Thanks, again, for the encouragement.

Anytime carbs are cut from the diet you do have low-energy until your body adjusts. Don’t overextend yourself with activity, start off easy and grow into the routine as you’re feeling better. Diet and exercise should become a way of life that’s enjoyable and not so much a chore. The headaches do go away and trust me after a while you don’t miss the sugar as bad. You’ll have good days and bad. Some days, you’ll stick to your diets like glue and other times you cave. Don’t stress it, just move past it, and keep going. You’ll eventually get where you want. Best of luck to you and thanks for visiting, my friend!

Awwww What a cute song! I love it this way then when Rhiana does it her way! ~hehehe~ and your picture today should be right on the front of this album for sure!!! Awwww I gotta play this again! Okay come on Kat… it’s time to swing those hips… very nice Post girlfriend.. you choice is perfect.

      Marie,

The original just didn’t fit my post like Nightcore. The sped up version seemed cuter sounding which goes with my art style. 🙂 I’m glad you enjoyed the mewsic and drawing, dear friend!

      John,

The clouds acted like they were parting this afternoon but I know it’s only temporary at least for today. I think the rain is expected to be out of our area early tomorrow but then there’s another chance for it Thursday evening. We might get some thunderstorms. After that the weekend looks good. We’ll see.

I don’t use umbrellas because they are so cumbersome and what do you do with them when you get where you’re going? I love the splash of water by her feet and agree with Jacqui that her legs must be cold!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Janet,

Umbrellas are cumbersome. I take one out on rainy days when I have to rely on public transportation to get me around town. The last thing I want is to be soaked getting to an appointment. Thanks for visiting.

  • Birgit

I was expecting the umbrella to be blown inside out which has happened to me…and millions of others. She is struggling for sure but she looks good in her stylish blue boots! I am enjoying your artistic ventures.

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Birgit,

During my college years or early career, I often carried an umbrella when it rained. On those gusty, rainy days it wasn’t uncommon for it to get turned inside out. These days I don’t worry about using one if it’s just a quick trip outdoors. I’m rarely outside long when it rains otherwise. She does look stylish in her blue knee-high boot, though. Thanks for your lovely comment.

It’s finally spring here. It’s in the 80s, but will return to the mid 70s by the weekend. I’ve not worn socks for the better part of a week.

I love your sketches. Most wonderful.

Have a fabulous day and week. ♥

What a delightful illustration! The weather here, today, is quite moody. Your purple/pink umbrella really brightens it up!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Laura,

We’re under rain clouds today and is expected to say with us through tomorrow morning. I’m ready for Mr. Blue Sky to make an appearance. 🙂 Thanks for visiting.

    Hi, Cathy!

I like it, dear friend! U did a great job of fleshing out the illustration of a girl in the city bracing against a storm with her umbrella. I can feel the wind blown rain pelting the poor dear as she struggles with the bumbershoot.

I began noticing those Nightcore videos on YouTube a couple of years ago. I learned that they are not actual “covers” of well know hits – they are merely sped up versions of the original artist’s recording. As Wiki explains it: “A nightcore edit is a remix track that speeds up its source material by 20% and increases its pitch. Formed in 2002, the name for the internet-based music was originally defined as sped-up and pitch-shifted versions of trance, techno and eurodance songs, but its definition expanded into non-dance territory by the time the remix style became popular in the 2010s.”

Here’s wishing U a safe and happy day, dear friend Cathy!

      Tom,

I’m glad you could sense the struggles this girl is dealing with in a rainy wind tossed day. I remember having to fight an umbrella on occasions when I worked or attended school. Usually, if the wind was horrible it tore up my umbrella leaving me frustrated and wet. 🙂 Thanks for sharing these tidbits about Nightcore. I’m not sure how this differs from a ‘cover’, though. I’m listening to a Nightcore playlist while in Blogosphere. I’m not sure if this is a style I can keep playing for hours in the background or not but I wanted to get a broader sample of their work. Thanks for visiting this morning, my friend. Have a good day!
