Monday's Music Moves Me

April born musicians

Awww Mondays hosted by Sandee from Comedy Plus.

Hello, I’m happy that you popped over!  I’m curious, are you here for the music or are you looking for my latest A2Z sketch?  If it’s the later, don’t rush off quite yet because I’d really like it if you’d dance with me.  We’re celebrating April born musicians today on the dance floor.

I wanted to do something that’s meaningful to me.  I decided to honor my late baby brother.   The anniversary of his 55th birthday was last Wednesday.  There were a few artists sharing his birthday.  Deep Purple founding band member, Ritchie Blackmore seemed an obvious pick.  I love Smoke On The Water!  In 1975, he formed his own band, Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow.  The band released their self-titled debut album the same year.  YouTube has the full album on their site, so I’m sharing this with you on Monday’s Music Moves Me.

Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow YT playlist tracks:  1.  Man On The Silver Mountain  2. Self Portrait  3. Black Sheep Of The Family  4. Catch The Rainbow  5. Snake Charmer  6.  The Temple Of The King  7.  If You Don’t Like Rock N Roll  8. Sixteenth Century Greensleeves  9. Still I’m Sad

This month’s honorary co-host is Driller’s Place

This is a mewsic linky party. Every other week we have a suggested mewsic theme (see side menu) to build your song set around and all participants share YouTube or Vimeo videos for our mewsic enthusiasts.  Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.

It just occurred to me that today is my late in-laws 74th wedding anniversary.  They were married 67 years before the Lord took my MIL home but they are together once again.  In the boxes of pictures and miscellaneous stuff we brought home from their estate, I  found a card a a congratulations card on their marriage that MIL’s sister Edna and her then boyfriend gave them.

A special thanks to DP for the fabulous themes for April.  He did a swell job as honorary co-host!   The 4M crew is always happy to have you fill-in for a month, my friend.  And, like always thanks for saving a dance for me and making Mondays a little nicer.  😉   I’ll be back again tomorrow with another Looney Tunes sketch.  This month is heading out the door.   Have a boogietastic week!  X💋X💋, Cathy

Hugs as you think of your late brother. I found that the only song I knew was “The Man on the Silver Mountain”. I did enjoy hearing more work by Rainbow. And that card from Edna – I noticed she signed it “EQ” (at least it looks like that) and that is what I call a very good friend. Her name doesn’t begin with E, though – it’s an abbreviation of her nickname.

Awww on that little gal keeping the pup dry. So adorable.

What a wonderful tribute to your brother. You rock.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Love and hugs. ♥

I think I just took a trip in the “Way-back” machine to the acid rock days of the late sixties. I loved Deep Purple. You can hear some influences and similarities between Rainbow and Black Sabbath, Steppenwolf, even Creedence Clearwater Revival. This genre of music was at the forefront of my listening preferences during the late sixties and early seventies. A very nice way to celebrate the life of your brother. Have a blessed week.

    Hi, Cathy!

Happy pawww-some 4M Monday, dear friend! I hope you and DH had a nice weekend.

That opening picture of the toddler holding an umbrella over the large breed dog is priceless. The dog is bigger than the child.

It was very nice of you to remember your little brother with a set of songs. Happy b-day in heaven to him. I like Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow because the band’s lead zinger is one of my rock idols – Ronnie James Dio. When I worked at that MTV style station in the 80s, Ronnie and his then current band, Dio, came to Tampa Bay, one stop on their Sacred Heart tour, and I produced promos for the live show. I’m pretty sure “Man On The Silver Mountain” was one of the songs Ronnie performed during his concert. Ronnie had an interesting and diverse mewsical career that started in 1957 when he helped form a rock & roll band called The Vegas Kings. Next came Ronnie and the Redcaps, Ronnie Dio and the Prophets, The Electric Elves, The Elves and Elf before he joined Rainbow. As you might know, Ronnie fronted Black Sabbath after leaving Rainbow and toured with a band called Heaven & Hell when the Dio band broke-up.

Happy 74th wedding anniversary in heaven to your late in-laws. 67 years of marriage is quite an achievement, one I am sure you and DH will match. I admire the old card given to them all those years ago by Edna.

Thanks for the mewsic and memories. Have a wonderful week and I’ll see you soon on your A to Z post, dear friend Cathy!
