Rocktober Music Fest

All-female horn-band from NYC #RMF

Another week bites the dust and it happens to be DH’s off Friday.  I can’t get too much together time with my favorite fella.

There’s nothing like starting the day off with some giggles unless you’re talking about mewsic and that’s a different story.  I continue to rock with Mary from Jingle Jangle Jungle with her Rocktober Music Fest and I have a new mewsic discovery I’m itching to share with you!

Today’s mewsic feature is an all-female horn band that drew the comparison to Chicago, Blood, Sweat, and Tears, Earth, Wind, & Fire, and Santana. They built a strong fan base in the NYC club circuit and opened for some big rock acts in the 70s but unfortunately failed to achieve the commercial success needed to keep the band united.  What a shame! Anywho, join me this mornig for a listen to the bands 1974 self-titled album, Isis

Isis album song titles in track order: Waiting for the Sonrise,  Everybody Needs a Forever, Servant Saviour,  Rubber boy, April fool, Bitter sweet, Do the Football, She Loves Me, & Cocaine Elaine.

I borrowed the above playlist from the Henry Henryk YT channel.  I do not know how accurate the song titles as I lifted them straight from the info provided below the vid.  If you enjoyed their mewsic then you’ll be interested to know this YTer also uploaded Isis’s other two albums to his video library  Ain’t No Backin’ Up Now (1975) and Breaking Through (1977).

I hope you’ll travel with me back in time tomorrow with another edition of Rocktober Mewsic Festival!

X💋X 💋, Cathy

      Stephen,

The album cover doesn’t make a lot of sense but the first thing I thought of was the old James Bond film, ‘Gold Finger’. They certainly were an awesome band and with their sound, I think they should’ve used an album cover that eludes to sexy. The gold paint bodies do not say sexy in my humble opinion. Thanks for stopping by!

Hilarious cartoons, Cathy! Especially the first one. 😀 Thanks for the introduction to Isis. They do sound similar to Chicago. Hope you’re having a lovely day with your DH. Happy Weekend!

Love the funnies and especially that first one. I could use some of that botox myself.

I’ve not heard of this group before. Amazing that some groups just don’t make the mark.

Have a fabulous day and weekend, Cathy. Love and hugs. ♥

      Sandee,

Botox surely smooths the skin out but have you noticed how it makes the skin look like plastic? What’s horrible is seeing a gal who clearly does not need Botox using it! What will such gals do when they really need it? I don’t like the signs of age on my face but I think I’ll just smile through the wrinkles of time. 😀

      Rain,

I’m glad my giggles got ya howling. 🙂 Our weekend was good, not the most productive but we did manage to knock off several houses on our list. Unfortunately, nearly all of them failed to meet our expectations. There’s one that we’re still considering which requires further digging into. Thanks for joining me on Friday!

    Hi, Cathy!

I enjoyed your Friday Sillies, dear friend, and appreciated the introduction to the zesty, brassy 70s all female horn-rock band Isis. Actually I do know this band in a way because two founding members came from a 60s girl band called Goldie & The Gingerbreads. I posted one or two of that band’s songs on my blog a while back. I read that the lead singer, Carol MacDonald, died in 2007. Over the years the name “Isis,” which refers to an ancient Egyptian goddess, was adopted by many companies and brands (along with this band), but most of those company and brand names were changed in modern times after ISIS became widely known as an acronym for Islamic terrorism. The Isis girl band broke up in 2010. If they reunite, they would do well to pick another name.

I wish you and DH a safe and happy weekend, dear friend Cathy!

      Tom,

How cool to know this tidbit about two of the band members. Whenever I think of Isis, I think of the Egyptian goddess but unfortunately, in today we associate the name with evil and terror. Thanks for joining me on Friday for some giggles and mewsic, my friend. You’re the best!
