Battle of the Bands,  Monday's Music Moves Me

A Bakers’ Dozen An Assortment of Maria Holm-Mortensen Songs

Awww Mondays hosted by Sandee from Comedy Plus.

Hello! I hope life on your side is good.  The seasons changed again like a blink of an eye.  Our weather is unstable like most parts of the US until mid-April.  There’s always the worry of a heavy freeze and our temps certainly did dip close to it over the weekend.   I hope that’s the last of the chilly nights.

Before I hit the dance floor, allow me to recap how things went down in last week’s BoTB Rainbows, Pots of Gold, and Moonbeams.  In this battle it was obvious from the beginning who would take the victory or at least I thought who’d take the win but what I didn’t expect was the couple of stray voters to get their ballot cast in time to give me another deadlock showdown until… one last vote came in yesterday.  Here’s how everyone voted.

Studebaker Hawk  – Debbie, Lee, Stephen’s bro, Dixie, & Nicole

Diane Solomon  – Tom, Eugenia, Birgit, Mary, Stephen, & Mike

A special thanks to everyone who joined in on the fun.  Participation was down a bit this round.  I’m not sure what to make of this but future battles I’m going to pin the posts at the top to snag bloggers’ interest.  We’ll see how this goes.  I hope you play along in my next battle on April 1st.  Now for one listen to the winner of this round, Diane Solomon with I Am A Dancer!

I’m not sure when we began watching the Netflix Original Finnish detective series Bordertown but despite the English-speaking voices dubbed in we really like the program.  The theme song “Closer” really grabbed me.  I wanted to hear more from the artist.  I went to YouTube with the hope of building a playlist which I did.  Today on Monday’s Music Moves Me dance floor, it’s your choice, so this is a good time to share with the voice behind theme song (track 1 below).   Hit play to enjoy the sound of  Maria Holm-Mortensen.

Playlist includes:  1. Tightrope  2. Recovery  3. Don’t Let Me Down  4. Lost On You  5. The One That You Love 6. Strange  7. Other People  8. Forever For Now  9. Shaken  10. Into the Wild  11. When I’m Over You  12. Girls Go Wild  13. How Low Can You Go

Maria lists herself as “LP” on her YouTube channel for the curious minded wanting to follow or to sample more of her music.

This is a mewsic linky party. Every other week we have a suggested mewsic theme (see side menu) to build your song set around and all participants share YouTube or Vimeo videos for our mewsic enthusiasts.  Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.

Thanks for sharing this dance with me.  This afternoon I have an ENT appointment.  My doctor continues to monitor the status of the one tube that’s managed to stay in since 2017 as well make sure no other complications have come up.  I may find it difficult to get in the groove the rest of the week but I’ll do my best to return for some mid-week.  Meanwhile, have a boogietastic week!  X💋X💋, Cathy

The last one is of no concern to me but the first three I’m so over people who repeatedly do these things to me!

Oh, Cathy, I’m so confused, and I must have misread your post. The LP I come up with in a Wikipedia search is the professional name of one Laura Pergolizzi (an American singer/songwriter) , and her picture is the one on the album you featured. I did enjoy “Into the Wild”. I was just wondering who I was listening to. Maybe I’m just having a senior moment…but I’m coming up with Maria Holm-Mortensen only doing the Closer song and Laura Pergolizzi singing the playlist. Help!

Springtime is on the tip of my tongue too. Cute.

Love the videos, especially the first one.

Love that last graphic. I distance myself from those folks too.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Love and hugs. ♥

    Hi, Cathy!

Happy 4M Monday and BOTB Results Day, dear friend! I hope you and DH had a nice weekend!

I’m happy for your sake that you managed to pull off yet another very close band battle, a reflection of your good mewsical taste and judgement I think you’re on the right track combining the 4M and the BOTB in a single post. If you post separately an hour or so apart, it increases the chance people will miss the first post. In the end I’m happy to be a member of Team Diane and learn that she won the contest. Thanks for posting a bonus song by her. I enjoyed “I Am A Dancer.”

Wow, I am very impressed by the strong vocals of Maria Holm-Mortensen. She reminds me of Pat Benatar and Ann Wilson. Mrs. Shady and I favor crime series produced in other countries, and I’ll check out the Netflix Original Finnish detective series Bordertown. I also urge you to give the British-French series “Spotless” a try. It’s another great one that we recently watched. It only lasted one season but it’s a fine show.

Thanks for the Monday entertainment, dear friend Cathy, and have a tunetastic week!

      Tom,

I’m glad you said you like having my BoTB and 4M posts together. Would that be true on any other day that I might do a double entry? Right now I have April 1st BoTB to post as a sticky so it’ll always be at the top. Do you think that would work well to attract interest? I thought I’d give it a test run next month and if it fails then I may go back to combining my battle posts with any double entries on that day. I just felt like my content was too long for some. Maybe, I’m wrong.

Thanks for the heads up on the British-French crime series, “Spotless”. I just located it on Netflix and added it to our Watch List. Right now, we’re going back and forth between Bordertown on Netflix and Borgia’s on Showtime. We probably will cancel our Showtime subscription in May. They don’t have enough content to justify keeping it. Thanks for dropping by first thing this morning, my friend. Have a great week!

        Hi again, Cathy!

To answer your question, as a blogger I would rather do the “one stop shopping” thing and not have to search for a second post in a single day. There have been times when I visited you at 6 am sharp as I like to do, and then move on and get busy with other things throughout the day forgetting that a second post was coming at CAAC. I can’t speak for other bloggers, but I’d rather see the band battle at the top of the post, then scroll down to check out other features you might have piggybacked on it. That way I know I’ve got you covered and won’t miss the second post.

Have a good one, dear friend Cathy!
