Rocktober Music Fest

70s Rock Mewsic Sample

This is the second annual Roctober Mewsic Festival hosted by Mary from Jingle Jangle Jungle and I’m happy to join along with her in the fun.

This month, I’m revisiting some of the classic 70s mewsicians and songs that either I didn’t catch the artist/band name or just forgot that I loved in my teen year. I hope you’ll stick around to enjoy some lost gems from the past.

Today, we’re gonna sample top rock 70s mewsic inspired by song selections found on this Internet source. Settle in and unwind 40+ years with these fabulous hits of yesterday!

The 70s Rock Mewsic Sample playlist includes these songs in track order: All Right Now by Free, Baby Hold On by Eddie Money, The Boys Are Back in Town by Thin Lizzy, China Grove by The Doobie Brothers, Message in a Bottle by The Police, Free Ride by The Edgar Winter Group, Iron Man by Black Sabbath, Smoke on the Water by Deep Purple, Sultans of Swing by Dire Straits, and Billion Dollar Babies by Alice Cooper.

What songs come to mind when you hear these songs?

Change in plans…At the time I began my posts for this month, I had no idea that DH would need to use some of his vacation time or risk losing it. That being said,  I’ll be away from Blogosphere for the most part until bright an early Tuesday morning, Oct. 22. I’ll do my best to boogie with you but if I slip off the dance floor for too long then know I will eventually make by to see you, so save a dance for me. 😉

I hope you’ll travel with me back in time tomorrow with another edition of Rocktober Mewsic Festival!

That’s quite the spectrum of tunes, you’ve got there! So many thoughts. Eddie Money – I always think of Two Tickets to Paradise. That was my ex bf ‘Friday night song’. He had to listen to it every Friday night (and several other nights in between!) When I think of the Doobie Brothers, I always think of Black Water. I really didn’t get into Alice Cooper much when I was younger, but my current bf really likes him so I ‘get’ to listen to his music quite a bit.

Hope you’re having a wonderful time away from the internet!

I love this video. One of my favorite tunes back in the day. Love your playlist as always.

Have a fabulous vacation with hubby. Big hug. ♥

My goodness, Cathy! You are turning into quite a Rocker. 😀 I’m loving your playlist here. 💖 We saw Edgar Winter opening for Alice Cooper and Deep Purple in Sept. 2017. Fabulous concert from start to finish! I hope you and DH are having a wonderful time on your vacation. Rock on! 🤘

Hi Cathy 🙂 Oh I used to love that Thin Lizzy song. I still remember it fondly! Hope your staycation is going well! Just wanted to let you know I took your advice (finally lol) and I’m going to extend the linky for my art date from 1 day to 4 days. I don’t know why I was so bent on keeping it within the Thursday deadline…control freak perhaps lol…I know you’re off for a while, see you next week!! 🙂

    Hi, Cathy!

I enjoyed this smattering of 70s rock tuneage, dear friend! As you probably know, Eddie Money died last month at the age of 70. I’ll be 70 a few weeks from now. Makes a guy think. After their first few hit singles, I wasn’t a big fan of Sting and The Police, and therefore “Message in a Bottle” is new to my ears this morning, the only song in your batch that is unfamiliar. “Sultans of Swing” by Dire Straits is one of Mrs. Shady’s favorite songs of the period, and my Pick To Click is the last one, “Billion Dollar Babies.” I remember how excited I was the first time I heard Alice Cooper’s single “I’m Eighteen” playing in a pub at State College in the fall of 1970. In that moment I knew Vince and his band were going to be big… very big.

I hope you continue to enjoy your vacation and that you will snap pics of fall leaves to post on CAAC. Stay safe and come see me again soon, dear friend Cathy!
