Friday Sillies

Too Young #BoTB Results, Pig #humor, & more Friday Fun Stuff!

,Someone earlier in the week mentioned that the Year of the Pig.  I know little to nothing about the Chinese New Year but I’ve held this piece of humor for just the purrfect occasion and I think this is as good of a time as any, don’t you? 🙂

Before I get into my Friday Sillies edition, let me report on Last week’s BoTB showdown.  Most people weren’t crazy about my candidates but that’s okay.  I mostly put Donny Osmond against Michael Jackson because they were two singers I grew up listening to and I bet a good number of you, too.

How did the two teen idols stack up against each other? It became clear early on Donny was a favored slightly more than Michael simply because his vocals sounded more mature, including me. These boys were really ‘Too Young’ for this song but that’s the beauty of letting them go head-to-head in this round.

Mary, Brian, Patrick, Lee, Stephen, John, Sandee, Myke, Mimi, Debbie, Amy, Cherdo & little ole me preferred DONNY (13) while Birgit, Eugenia, Tom, Rain, Sandy, & Mike liked Michael (6) better.  Your voices were heard, your votes recorded and let it shall be said that on this 8th day of February 2019 the winner is…

🎉DONNY OSMOND!👏

I visited Donny’s YT channel; skipping through a few of his playlists I decided to share this one with you for all those who had a case of the ‘Puppy Love’ blues.  I give the guys purrmission to not listen. 🤣

My next Battle of the Bands showdown is slated for next Friday, the 15th, and I hope you come back to cast your vote in that round, too.  Thanks for making Round Three of BoTB 2019 a success!

Why didn’t I come up with this for me? Glam-Ma is so me, don’t you think? lol
Pigs are shocked by the fate of the piggy bank.

I’m rounding things out with these Friendly Fill-Ins hosted by the lovely, Ellen and Lorraine.

1. I want to make the most of my day taking care of the things that need to be done but making the time to enjoy my passions.

2. My days are best spent keeping preoccupied doing many different things that get me up on my feet which helps me to stay away from in-between snacking.  Sitting in front of the computer keeps me busy but it doesn’t necessarily stop the munching habit.

3. A day in my life always includes my morning coffee. I can’t seem to get going without it…well, I can I just don’t want to.  It just feels right to have it.

4. Good things happen to those who wait…patiently. At least that’s what I’ve been telling myself because that’s what I was told.

That’s a wrap for now but I hope to see you on the dance floor for freebie mewsic pick on Mondays Mewsic Moves Me!

X💋X💋, Cathy

Your posts are always so fun and make me smile. Thank you for that! And thank you for joining in on the Friendly Fill-Ins! I’ve never been a coffee person, but I sure can be a dedicated snacker. I tend to crave fruit, and I can eat entire bags of grapes and cherries in one sitting without even batting an eye. Have a wonderful day!

I am opposite of your answer to #2. Living where we are, and with critters – insects and occasionally rats – food does not leave the kitchen or living room. If I’m sitting at the computer I will not eat at all. If I veg in front of the TV, though, woe is me. Snackaholic, that’s me!

      Red,

My computer sits on our dining room table and while I don’t make it a practice to eat while on the computer, I do find when I’m sitting that I want to nibble more so that’s why I prefer to be moving so that bad habit doesn’t click on so easily. I guess I should be grateful for all the little to-dos I need to tend to each day that keeps me on my feet.

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Stephen,

That sounds like a cool idea Laurie vs Marcia, but can I pull that one off? I will have to study on this one but you can rest easy knowing it won’t be for the next battle. lol

Michael Jackson became the King of Pop later on, but I guess in those early days he wasn’t making a lot of his own musical decisions. Thank goodness he grew musically. Donny was always pretty consistent. I liked it when he released his heavier rock album in the late eighties, but he never strayed far from his musical roots.

I start most days off with coffee, but it’s mostly just out of habit. Without it I guess I function about the same, but I don’t know when the last time was that happened.

      Lee,

MJ’s earlier mewsic career was dictated by his dad, I’d say and that of his brothers being the youngest of the five. He certainly did grow by leaps in the 80s earning the ‘King of Pop’ title. Those were his magical years in the industry. My morning coffee routine is a habit with me, too. I’ve had to go without it on occasions and survived but I always made up for it in the evenings. Coffee is supposed to be good for you. At least that’s what they’re saying currently. I’m sure this will change. lol I’ll just keep enjoying my morning brew until my time on this earth is no more. 🙂

all the funnies were great today – so Donny won – …congrats to him! I’ve seen lots of references to pigs lately. Personally I’ll be excited when it’s the year of the Tiger. yeah!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Sandy,

Why are you excited about the year of the Tiger? Is this your Chinese zodiac symbol? 🙂 You spurred my curiosity. Mine is the Ox (Character traits: diligent, dependable, strong, determined–that sounds about like me except I’m not physically strong but mentally I am an ox. ) which occurs next in 2021. 🙂

  • Michael Todd

I am a big Osmond fan… Marie Osmond.

Your piggy bank cartoon is classic. I laughed at that one. 🙂

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Myke,

I had a piggy bank when I was a kid and while there was never much in it, I could never bring myself to break it. I felt like I was tearing it up and I would’ve been. I preferred the banks that had a little plug so I could take the money out without guilt. lol

  • Debbie D.

Hi Cathy; Perfect timing with the the pig jokes! 😀 And “Glam Ma” suits you to a T. Donny is the rightful winner of this battle as his voice sounded better. Not my kind of music, though, so I’ll join the guys and skip the playlist. 😉 What is Snapchat? is it like WhatsApp or Messenger? Too many apps around these days, but that was a good analogy. When it’s time for Life Alert, then you know you’re old! Ha! Wishing you a fabulous weekend!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Debbie,

I don’t know much about Snapchat other than it’s a photo app that recognizes the face and you can select an animal face to cover yours, like ears or nose. You’ll find an example here of DD#2 and me. I don’t have it on my phone as I’m not sure what the purpose of it is anyhow but I thought the picture she took was cute. 🙂 I’ve heard of the apps you mentioned but don’t know anything about them. Yikes, there are too many social media apps in circulation! How on earth do you keep up? lol

      • Debbie D.

Hi Cathy; I remember that cute image of you and your daughter. So THAT’s from Snapchat. I looked it up and it seems like more of a fun time waster than anything else. WhatsApp is to keep in touch with European friends and family. It’s free! Messenger is the private message app for Facebook. Social media has great tools for bloggers, so I’m up on some stuff, but not all. Have a great rest of the week!

        • Cathy Kennedy

          Debbie,

WhatsApp sounds like an interesting app. That might be useful I pen palled a lot but I don’t have many overseas friends I keep up with anymore. 🙁 I don’t even want Messenger on my phone since it’s linked with Facebook. I don’t even have the FB app. I prefer going directly to the site. Some apps mine personal info from your phone without your knowledge but mostly they all are huge drains on the battery. I’m preoccupied with what I’m using now without any more help. lol Thanks for giving me the heads up on these apps.

  • 15andmeowing

Cute pig jokes and I like the cat one too. Funny thing is if we didn’t keep the toilet lids down then the cats would drink from the toilet too 🙂 Thanks for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. I can’t function without coffee. Have a nice weekend! XO

  • Memories of Eric and Flynn

I like the funnies, and the cat is right about dogs drinking from the toilet.

  • Comedy Plus

Donny was the best of the two. Okay I still don’t like either one.

I love all the chuckles. Too funny.

That kitty is right about dogs drinking water from the toilet.

Thank you for joining the Feline Friday Blog Hop.

Have a purrfect Feline Friday and weekend. Big hug and love. ♥

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Sandee,

I know, I know you don’t like ’em. lol I’m curious, were you not a fan of either artist in their early years? Their high pitched vocals are a bit hard to handle these days but when I was a kid I never thought much about it. Have a good weekend, my friend!

  • Thomas Anderson

    Hi, Cathy!

How are you, dear friend? I’m in the mood for some of your Sillies this morning!

I am sorry to learn that Michael Jackson lost the band battle against Donny and that your ears did not match mine this time. I don’t think age should have anything to do with the performance of the song. Soul is soul, and remember – in China, too young is just a name. 🙂 I enjoyed the cartoon with the pig boss evaluating the pig employee’s report. In a pig’s world sloppy is good. Yessum, I do think Glam-Ma is the ideal word for someone like you. You are much too young and stylish to be labeled grandma. I love that “current life status – Life Alert” meme. Remember those old commercials for LifeCall with the woman on the floor crying, “I’ve fallen and I can’t get up”? I like your fill-ins, Cathy. A balanced life results from doing necessary chores and tasks first and always setting aside time in your day to have fun and indulge your passion. Like you I can’t get started without my morning coffee and lately I am loving Starbucks Veranda. It is smooth and flavorful. I enjoyed the parody of “Thunder” from the Marvel film Thor: Ragnarok. The song was originally recorded by Imagine Dragons.

Thanks for the mewsic and Friday fun, dear friend Cathy, and have a great weekend!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Tom,

MJ has the soul for sure but I think his voice being too high was a bit too much for my ears. I’ve always liked his earlier stuff no question about it but Donny won my heart…I mean ears over this round. 🙂 Good info on the song parody. I do recall seeing that the original is an Imagine Dragons’ song. Thanks for popping by this morning with your coffee in hand, my friend!
