Monday's Music Moves Me

The Moody Blues to help put you in the Christmas mood early

Awww Mondays hosted by Sandee from Comedy Plus

Welcome to Monday’s Music Moves Me on Sundays!  How was your Thanksgiving weekend?  I hope you had a lovely time with family and friends reflecting on the blessings of your life.

This week’s theme is your choice song picks.  It’s really hard for me to not be in the Christmas spirit about now, so why not spin some holiday tunes a wee bit early?  I stumbled on Don’t Need A Reindeer after Christmas last year which I liked so I am bringing that tune along with the whole playlist from the 2003 December album by The Moody Blues!

Song tracks: 1. Don’t Need A Reindeer  2. December Snow  3. The Quiet of Christmas Morning  4. On This Christmas Day  5. Happy Xmas (War Is Over)  6. A Winters Tale  7. The Spirit of Christmas  8. Yes I Believe  9. When A Child Is Born  10. White Christmas  11. In The Bleak Midwinter

This month’s honorary co-host is Driller’s Place

❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵

This is a mewsic linky party. Every other week we have a suggested mewsic theme (see side menu) to build your song set around and all participants share YouTube or Vimeo videos for our mewsic enthusiasts.  Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.

Have you picked your favorite month to be honorary co-host in 2022 yet?  The 4M gang would love to have you, please send an email now to secure a good time slot! I hope you enjoyed the music today and hope you make me apart of each day through December with my song-a-day Christmas challenge.  Also, the 4M crew will be rockin’ around the Christmas tree all month long.  It’s the most wonderful time of the year!  Up next is my December 1st BOTB on Wednesday.  I hope you’ll come by to join the fun. That’s a wrap. Have a boogietastic week.  X💋X💋, Cathy

Like nearly everyone else, I was like, “Who knew the Moody Blues did a Christmas album.” I had five or six MB albums back in the day and just pick up an old vinyl recently to play on my recently acquired turntable. Well played…really well played.

  • Sandee

Awww on the precious bunny. Adorable.

      Robin,

I’m so thrilled to have found an old band that everyone knows but didn’t know they put out a Christmas album until now. What a stroke of good luck I had when I stumbled on this lat year! 🙂

Believe it or not I’ve never heard this tune by the Moody Blues! I’m going to play this for Dave I’m sure he’s hurt it before, but we’ll see. I like it… oh wow a Christmas song I have never heard! WOO HOO! THANKS CAT and I really like it… it’s so pretty & too cool. I can’t wait to play it for Dave too. He’s definitely a Moody Blues follower! How was your Thanksgiving? Hope you got a chance to see your family. I’m going to see mine on Tuesday… well, at least my oldest daughter and my two granddaughters and my two great granddaughters. I’ll take some pics and maybe post them on Wednesday so you can see them. Thanks Cat for helping me out this whole time. You’ll never know how much I appreciate it. Luv ya girlfriend, and have a great day! HUGS

Neither my husband (a big Moody Blues fan; in fact he just bought some Moody Blues CDs) nor I knew they had done a Christmas album. Lots of peaceful music here. Interesting that they had several covers here. Definitely a different side of the Blues.

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Alana,

I thought this was a happy discovery and am thrilled to spring on so many for the first time. 🙂 Thanks for sharing the dance floor with me, darlin’!

    • Cathy Kennedy

I didn’t know the Moody Blues had a Christmas album (although this shouldn’t surprise me – everyone does!) Thanks for sharing – look forward to checking it out! Thanks for hosting and hope you had a fabulous Thanksgiving weekend Cathy! 🙂

    • Cathy Kennedy

Thank you for asking about our Thanksgiving. We had a lovely time. 🙂 There’s plenty to discover where music goes. I’m always finding new songs and learning about artists all the time. I’m delighted to have you join me on the dance floor, my dear.

  • Thomas Anderson

    Hi, Cathy!

Happy Pawww-some 4M Monday on Sunday, dear friend! I hope you are DH are having a nice weekend. I’ve been looking for this feature since 6 am, and eventually thought you had postponed publication until tamale. I’m glad I can read and listen now before another busy week gets underway.

First, I want to say how much I admire your dazzling new header composed of holiday themed vintage pinups. Next – awww… I just wanna smooth that little bunny’s ears and his/her “kisser.” He/she’s just the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.

I also loved listening to the sounds of the holidays on this Moodys album. The Christmas season is the time of year when we can choose to get back in touch with our inner child. That is not to say that we act childish and selfish. It is to say that we open our hearts and our minds, let our imagination run free, let our minds fill with wonder and spread unconditional love and goodwill in abundance. This Moody Blues album is truly a gift. Every song induces peace, calm and sanity, helps us get our priorities realigned and, as Abraham Lincoln did in the closing of his First Inaugural Address, calls upon “the better angels of our nature.”

That closing meme is indeed an example of getting motivated. It reminds me of the soldier in The Dirty Dozen who didn’t believe he could climb the rope during training. When Lee Marvin grabbed a machine gun and started shooting the rope out from under him, he instantly found the strength to climb all the way to the top.

I look forward to your band battle on Wednesday. I have a doctor appointment that morning, but I should be able to visit you before I leave. Have a wonderful week, dear friend Cathy!

      Tom,

Thank you for noticing CAAC has a new blog layout for the Christmas season. That bunny is adorable, is it not? I agree Christmas time is the time of year to get let one’s inner child soar to embrace that sense of wonder is a magical feeling and one I hope I never, ever loss. Ever since I was little, I knew the true meaning of Christmas and I am deeply moved thinking about Jesus’ birth in a stable and the heavenly hosts proclaiming the good news to shepherds in the field. It’s really beautiful and I hope others are thinking of these things as well. It’s great having you to visit, my friend. Have a marvelous Monday!
