2019 The Little Mermaid #art sketch series ‘QUEEN’ #AtoZChallenge

Thanks for joining in today.  If you missed previous posts in The Little Mermaid Artsketch series you can find them easily under Latest Mews in my side menu.  ☞ ☞ ☞

Let me introduce you to Atlantica’s QUEEN – Athena!

In the first LM movie, we know that the Queen died when Ariel was a child. Long story short, pirates attack merpeople. Triton escapes with the younger daughters, but the oldest’s fin becomes entangled and Athena frees her but then tries to retrieve the mewsic box (a gift from the King) but is crushed to death by the pirate ship that sinks.  This is the reason for Triton’s hatred of humans and ban against the human world.

Athena appeared in the Disney 2008 sequel, The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Beginning.  Of all of her daughters Ariel, Andrina, Arista, Aquata, Adella, Alana, & Attina, Athena resemblance is reflected most in Ariel with her stunning beauty and gorgeous auburn hair.

This illustration was drawn by sight only, no step-by-step directions or art video tutorials.  I’m rather pleased with how Athena turned out. I can’t wait to colorize this sketch! 👏

1. An Easter ( or Passover) memory that  I have is going to Sunday School, having a big dinner, and hunting Easter eggs. We often spend Easter Sunday with family, so it was fun getting together with the cousins which reminds me of one Easter we were having a mud ball fight and I got hit square in the eye with one.  That killed the fun right there with a real shiner for days to remember how I spent Easter.  Here’s a picture from that Easter before my injury. I’m in the back row with blonde hair and hair on my face.

2. I hope to purchase a new home this year. This has been a dream of mine for years. It took years to get DH to see the need but he finally came around and now he’s actively searching various online real estate apps for homes of interest.

3. When the days are warm, I usually have to turn the air conditioning on especially if I’m doing any baking like yesterday.

4. If the Easter Bunny visited my house, he’d be disappointed because there aren’t any little kiddies here anymore. That’s okay, he can leave the candy for me.

I’m heading off to link up with other fellow AtoZers and you’re invited to come along.  For my fellow A2Zers, please leave a breadcrumb (direct post URL) in comments so I might find my way easily to you.  You’re invited to return tomorrow for another the next installment in my Little Mermaid Artsketch Series!
