Hello, kittens & dawgs! There were times in April we managed to slip away for the day. Our travels usually took us to the mountains. This day was no exception. We traveled to Boone, North Carolina to get on the Blue Ridge Parkway from that point. Traffic was light on the parkway, so we decided to take a peak at Moses Cone Manor. It’s normally a nut-house, but not on this day.
A few years ago, I shared shots taken at Moses Cone Manor. It was different kind of day ~ mysterious and moody with the elements. If you’re interested, then check it out, here.
We enjoyed a lovely walk around the property talking about what an impressive place this must have been in its time. It surprised me to learn that the Moses Cone Manor estate sits on 3000 acres. WOW!

Now, I’m joining Lexa in Celebrate the small things.
I’m celebrating…
baking a new-to-me cake from scratch a Cherry Almond cake for DD#2’s birthday (she’ll be 26 tomorrow). It turned out pretty darn good for my first attempt and it’s pretty.
drawing free-handed an adorable kitten (inspired by drawing found on Pinterest) to use on DD#2’s birthday card.my achy back problem (non-injury related) is finally easing up, making life more manageable again. Phew!
the nasty fever blisters appearing early last week are not so tender now. Still awful to look at, but my top lip is healing.
