Two pencil sketches of old #art masters’ paintings

Last month I eased my way back into blogging more than a once a week.  It helped to combine Wednesday and Thursday posts into one but now I ready to wing it….I hope.

This week’s prompt is The Old Masters. For a long time I wanted to try sketching the Mona Lisa. She’s not a dead ringer and I hope Leonardo  daVinci isn’t rolling in his grave too badly but I had fun trying my hand drawing her.

I had a  lot of fun sketching Mona Lisa, so much so I decided to try to replicate another Old Master’s work. This time I picked the Girl with Pearl Earrings by the Dutch painter, Johannes Vermeer.

I think I came a little closer duplicating Vermeer’s work than I did with da Vinci’s or at least in my eye.  What do you think?  Both drawings will be great fun to repose using the Procreate app another time to add color. I’m not comfortable to apply it directly to my original work yet.

Thanks for stopping in with your morning coffee for a peek at my latest illustration and …oh yeah, thanks for not spilling it on my artwork. 😉 I’m heading over to Rain’s Garden to browse through the gallery of artistry and you’re welcome to follow along!

Have a doodletastic day and I hope you’ll join me tomorrow for my first Friday Sillies edition in a long while, my darling friends! X💋X💋, Cathy

I thought this might put a smile on your face while keeping with this week’s art theme
