Welcome to Monday’s Mewsic Moves Me!
This is the farewell week to 2019. I can’t believe another year has nearly blown right past me. With no honorary co-host for December, our month-long theme has been nothing but Christmas mewsic! This is it, no wimping out folks and although Christmas is technically behind us, there’s no room for the mean Mr. Grinch or the bah-humbug from an old Scrooge if you’re not with the Christmas program, then kindly take yourself elsewhere cause we don’t want you spoiling our party!
It’s really hard to come up with something interesting and different where mewsic goes this time of you, so I’m going to go with a bang with one final share of Christmas songs from other countries.
Lasst uns froh und munter sein translates to Let Us Be Happy and Cheerful is a traditional German Christmas carol sung on the Nicholas Eve, December 5th.
Dormi Dormi Bel Bambi (Sleep O Sleep My Lovely Child) is a traditional Italian song from the 18th century performed acapella by the US Army Band Chorus.
Petit Papa Noel (English translation: Small Santa) from 1946 sang by Tino Rossi. Popular vocalists Josh Groban and Celine Dion covered this sweet French Christmas carol of a child wishing for Santa to bring the toys from his/her dreams.
Mi burrito sabanero (The Donkey of Bethlehem), the original song title is El Burrito de Belénis and it’s a popular Spanish song from Venezuela, the artist singing in this video is Juanes. The melody is joyful and the words tell Juanes the excitement of one traveling to see the baby Jesus on a little donkey.
Táladh Chrìosda (The Christ Child’s Lullaby) is a beautiful Gaelic Christmas carol written by Father Ranald Rankin in 1855. This version is sung and arranged by a Scottish lass, Rachel Walker.
Please read…this is a mewsic linky party, which means all participates are sharing songs that one can listen to from YouTube or Vimeo and a not a post about mewsic or mewsicians. Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.
It’s now time to join the 4M dance party!
ATTENTION!!! Would you like to be an honorary co-host? If so, shoot me an email or leave me a comment saying ‘YES, sign me up!’ and I’ll secure the next available month for you then send you the details.
The next time we meet on the dance floor it’ll be a new year, so I’m going to say goodbye to 2019 now and leave you with Dan Fogelberg singing, Same Old Lang Syne.
What do you have planned New Year’s Eve? If you get out in the madness then… please be safe, be wise, and be happy! Oh, yes and keep those tunes playing coz I’ll be boogieing over to see you soon. 😉
