Far Away TAD

iPhone 13 Pro capture

Rain’s prompt this week is “Far Away”.  The furthest away from home we’ve been is Lubec, Maine roughly 1268-1372 miles. We were there in 2022. I shared photos in my Maine travelogue series. In terms of what to for this art suggestion, ideas bounced around in my head when a light went on, I guess someone is home after all, and I remembered a pencil sketch I did for TAD in 2019 that not only needed color added but is an excellent drawing to use for the prompt.

Thinking about “far away”, I think of drawing landscapes or an object that gives the illusion of distance.  I remember having a lesson on this in school and I really need to revisit art lessons lost over the years.  I did a quick Internet search and was reminded the farther away something is from you, the lighter the color appears to the eye because of the atmosphere layers, like as seen below in my photographic taken last fall.

I need to doodle simple landscape scenes that leads the eye to the horizon capturing the various shades and distance. Art is a process. I’m always experimenting and learning daily.

What’s been cookin’ on this end.  I made a big kettle of beef stew following closely Miz Helen’s Kitchen Grandma’s Irish Stew recipe. One of the ingredients is either 12 ounce Irish Stout Beer or Cola.  We don’t drink and while we’ll occasionally drink soda, I didn’t have any cola. As far as I can tell the absence of these didn’t make any difference. The stew turned out terrific!

This past Friday, I made a homemade three meat (Italian sausage, pepperoni, and Canadian ham) pizza.  I still use the same pizza crust and pizza sauce recipes I discovered in 2020.  I shared the recipes in this post.  Sometimes, I’ll throw in a some garlic powder or Italian seasonings to my pizza dough mix jazzing the crust up but it’s good without it. I tossed in two tablespoons of Italian seasonings this time. I always brush generously the edge of my pizza when it first comes out of the oven with oil (I use Avocado oil) and sprinkle garlic powder and garlic salt on top of the oil for added flavor.  It’s really yummy, too! Once you get the basics down, you can put any of your favorite toppings on your pizza pie and it’ll the best you’ve ever had! This upcoming weekend I plan to make Italian sausage and onion pizza. 😋

A big thankful I have is DD#2’s day procedure (last Friday) went well.  She’s really sore but home healing and resting when she can.  We wanted to make the trip to Maine but due to my dental issue we didn’t want to risk being so far from home. In the end, I believe everything worked out as it was meant to.  The trip would’ve been a very short one and logging 2000 miles would’ve knocked us off our feet not only figuratively but literally.  Also, it kept DD#2 from pushing herself after her surgery, which she would’ve and we wouldn’t want her to have a set back. God’s way is always the best! I’m thankful for spring-like temperatures we’re having this week. I know it won’t be around long but I’ll enjoy the ride while it lasts!

If you’re looking for last week’s BOTB outcome, I shared that earlier this morning. You’ll find a link in my side menu under Current Headline News. Alrighty, that’s it for now.

Next time on CAAC is Monday’s Music Moves Me. You’ll find me boogieing to love songs, breakup songs or a combination of both for next week’s music theme. Invite a friend and come join the party! X💋X💋 Cathy
