Daddy’s Little Girls #AprilA2Z

Daddy’s Little Girl s a favorite at weddings for the father/daughter dance. The lyrics and music was written in 1906 by Robert Burke and Horace Gerlach. The Mills Brothers recorded the number in 1950 and other artists have covered this song, but Al Martino’s 1967 version is my favorite.

And you’re Daddy’s Little Girl
You’re the end of the rainbow
My Pot of Gold
You’re Daddy’s Little Girl to have and hold
A precious gem is what you are
You’re Mommy’s Bright and shining star.
You’re the spirit of Christmas
My star on the tree
You’re the Easter Bunny to Mommy and me.
You’re sugar
You’re spice
You’re everything nice
And you’re Daddy’s Little Girl.
You’re the end of the rainbow
My Pot of Gold
You’re Daddy’s Little Girl to have and hold
A precious gem is what you are
You’re Mommy’s Bright and shining star.
You’re the spirit of Christmas
My star on the tree
You’re the Easter Bunny to Mommy and me
You’re sugar
You’re spice
You’re everything nice
And you’re Daddy’s Little Girl.

It wasn’t until recent years I heard this song for the first time and it absolutely melted my heart because a daddy (DH) got this song for his little girls to express how much they mean to him.

Meet Daddy’s little girls, DD#1 not quite 6 and DD#2 barely 4, our darling daughters.

DH snapped this photo while I took a Cathynap with my baby boy. It never fails to put a smile on my face when I see this picture of Daddy’s little girls.
