Cake by the Ocean is too risque, I think I’d rather have cake in the house. Cake by the ocean isn’t the kind of cake I’m talking about today, so don’t get your knickers in bunch. This isn’t an x-rated post, folks! I usually go with what pops in my mind. Thinking about Rain’s theme today, DNCE’s uptempo song jumped right into my head. The tune puts ya in the mood to move and puts ya in good mood which brings me to Rain prompt. Yep, you guessed it, it’s ‘Cake’. Over the years, especially when the children were small I got creative sometimes with their birthday cakes. Here are few examples in no particular order. Warning!! The artwork isn’t the best but that’s not the point of the my creations, it’s the joy it gave to my young ones.
As I mentioned the artwork isn’t the best but the end results were the smiles on faces that matter most, the fun experience, and the fond lasting memories.
I didn’t know if I’d have an opportunity to sketch anything but I managed to squeeze it in while at DH’s dental appointment and finished it up this morning. I give you, “You can’t have your cake and eat it, too. Unless, you’re me.” 🙂
This week’s Thankful Thursday…
I’m thankful DH’s dental appointment went well. The dentist didn’t have too much trouble getting his temporary crowns off. He was in and out in about half an hour. We thought it would take more like an hour and a half. That’s how I was in when I got my bridge seated.
I’m thankful that we finally met our realtor last weekend for the first time in the two years we’ve been working with him. He showed us a house. We really liked it but it was in need of big dollar repairs and since they were wanting all offers by 8pm Saturday night we threw one out knowing that it probably wouldn’t be accepted and we were okay with that. You never know what God has planned, right?
I’m thankful to have another year of A to Z behind me. It was a fun ride but a busy one and one I wasn’t nearly prepared for but mostly I’m thankful for my all of my friends, especially those of you who’ve known the longest in Blogosphere who frequently visited last month and encouraged me. I’m indeed blessed!
And, in general I’m thankful for all things big and small because everything that’s given to me is from God. 🙂
In honor of mothers for their wise and wonderful advice my TBT hit is from 1976, “Shop Around”. Take it a way, Captain & Tennille!
I’m winding things up today with Kat’s Writing Workshop. I’m borrowing her prompt to share a recipe I know by heart.
When we were newly married the one thing I looked forward to when going home for visits was my late MIL’s fresh, home-made buttermilk biscuits. She was a master at it! In the early years I was in school and had little time to devote to perfecting my culinary arts. Things didn’t improve after graduating. In fact, it wasn’t until after I left the work force I began experimenting in the kitchen. My first attempts to make biscuits didn’t produce good results. On one of our visits home I asked my MIL if she’d show me the tricks of her trade. I followed her lead, wrote down instructions, and things worked really well in kitchen. I went home equipped to do repeat what I learned and Whoa-lah, a biscuit maker was born!! DH is a huge bread eater. It wasn’t uncommon for me to make a double batch every other week, especially with the kids still under our roof. Nowadays, I a single batch is more than enough but that largely depends on DH’s mood and how fast he can go through them. Okay, I help but he eats more of them than me. 🙂
I’m heading over to Rain’s Garden to browse through the gallery of artistry. You’re welcome to follow along.
Last month was an epic fail for me to keep my routine posts going, other than 4M. This week I’m trying to redeem myself by jumping right back into things even though I have a lot of A2Z catching up to do but that’s alright. I’m taking my time on all accounts because blogging is meant to be fun, not a chore. Have a doodletastic day Come join the fun! X💋X💋, Cathy
