This week’s theme is whatever music moves you which is a great opportunity to continue with the process of absorbing posts previously published on a now private WP blog I created here on CAAC. I will eventually permanently delete that site to minimize confusion.
I was recently reminded how much I liked the 80s sound of Kim Carnes but after our first daughter’s birth I lost touch of what happened to Carnes and other super stars from that decade.
Moving this post over to CAAC, I thought I’d check out Kim’s YT channel for new-to-me discoveries. The above album and her other original 80s releases were reissued in 2012. Her last album recorded was in 2004, Chasin’ Wild Trains.
Don’t be fooled thinking Carnes hasn’t been active in the music industry. She’s has written and recorded songs for movie soundtracks for these films, The Contender (2000) with Jeff Bridges “Ring of Fire”, Loggerheads (2005) “The Silver Cord”, and Chances: The Women of Magdalene (2006) “It’s a Mighty Hand”. She’s recorded songs for various other sources and the last performance I noted on Wiki was in 2021 for the online concert, Rheneypalooza Jam, to raise money for St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital in Memphis.
In my limited research, I’m always a little marveled when I find a talent from my young adults years whose the age of my parents. She and my mom share the same birth year. Carnes will celebrate her 78th birthday this week.
This is a music link up. Hence, your post must contain music (at least one song) or your URL is marked “No Music”. The party co-hostess are now featured in my right side bar underneath the 4M banner. The guidelines are simple. Every other week, a suggested (not mandatory) theme is given to build your song picks. YouTube and other music sites have options to create and embed playlists or individual songs into your post. On the off weeks, we dance to whatever music moves you – your choice. Finally, to access the dance party, just add your music post below, and visit others on the floor. Let the party begin!
All weekly themes for the rest of the year are now filled but if you’d like to nudge one of my suggestions out, then pitch your ideas for consideration. 😉 Of course, you can get a head of the game by throwing some fresh themes for 2024. It will be here before we know it. This is CAAC signing off, have a boogietasticweek! X💋X💋, Cathy
