Say That Again, An Elevator Pitch?

I’ve undertaken a new blog challenge for March.  My first step involves writing an ‘Elevator Pitch’ for my blog. If you’re a seasoned blogger, and I am not, then you know what this is.  For those who are groping around trying to find your way through Blogland, then an Elevator Pitch is a snazzy, punchy opening meant to reel in new readers.

This sounds a bit like a fishing expedition of sorts.   I’m not much of a fisherman…woman…or should that be fisherperson? Whatev! Will I catch the ‘big’ fish or will I have to spin a fish tale at the end of the day?  Only time will tell the tale, huh?

Think, think, think, what do I want my blog to be about?  As a children’s author, I don’t want my blog to be all about writing techniques or plotting out my next story.  Those are wonderful concepts, don’t get me wrong and I love my blogger buddies who write from this perspective.  I learn much from them.  For me, though, I want to involve a range of people into my small niche on the world-wide web. That’s why I’m pulled to blogging about whatever inspires me!

How do I roll my personality into my blog?  My key attributes are zany, upbeat, easy-going, energetic, young at heart, talkative, fun-loving, and…clearly being me.  I guess this means, I write from my heart and hope others will connect with me on that level.

Surprisingly, after re-reading an opening, actually it was an elevator pitch to my amazement, I wrote for one of my blogger friends,  I thought, “Yeah, that’s it!”  I tweaked it slightly, but it’s pretty true to the original pitch I wrote for Self Sagacity.  So, without further ado, I give you my Elevator Pitch….

You heard the old saying, “When God created _____, He broke the mold”, right? Well, I’m certain that’s exactly what He did when I was born. He laughed and I’m sure it was the very out loud kind of laugh (Where do you think LOL came from anyhow?) as He stepped back proclaiming, “Those people cannot handle more than one like her.” Then He smashed the mold.

For all purposes, I consider myself  “the girl next door”. You know your best bud. Someone you can confide in…giggle with or at…have a food fight with…or watch a sappy romantic flick with. Also, I’m like many of you – a mother and wife. What really drives me is my fondness for writing. Through my thoughts, I can create stories (and if you didn’t know by now, I’m a published children’s author) or write a dear pen-friend a mini novel depicting the goings-on in my world, or to spew forth my random mental entanglements on my blog.   You won’t find any phony baloney with me.  I’m very affectionate, slightly scatter-brained, and a bit zany with a tad of seriousness.  I’m ready to inscribe myself into your heart one sentence at a time.  Intrigued? Wanna know more?  Then, get cozy…oh yeah grab a cup of tea as you settle into my blog…and by the way, let me be the first to say, “Welcome Friend!”

This is my first exercise in the 31-Day Blog Challenge.  You know how much comments means you to you, right? Kindly leave me yours.  I wanna hear your thoughts on my Elevator Pitch.  Should this go in the ‘About Me’ section to entice the unsuspecting newbie who comes across my blog and once she(men are welcome, too) has read and read my posts, then she’ll be sucked in.  She won’t wanna walk away because lets face it, she will have found a new friend — me!

Have a wonderful  Tuesday!
