SWF: Almost Heaven WV

Good morning, my lovelies! Earlier in the week, I danced to Hometown, USA songs, which inspired me to share these old photos.

Before my big girl camera, I used my Canon SD880 ELPH point n’ shoot camera. This is the view from my in-law’s porch. Just behind the garage and to the right of the barn is where my in-laws kept a garden. You’ll even see they have a small vineyard, not for wine making, but for eating. Oh, boy are those awesome grapes, too!!

I love barns! My DH’s grandfather (his dad’s dad) built this barn more than a 100-years ago. The land this barn is on was given or sold to my father-in-law. Through the years, my FIL maintained this structure so it didn’t fall to ruins. In recent years, he hired someone to replace the roof on all their buildings. I love the green tin roof, don’t you? Image captured with my Canon SD880 ELPH camera.

~All images captured with my big girl camera ~ Nikon D7000 & preferred lens Nikkor 18-105mm zoom, unless otherwise noted.~

Before you go, you may want to link your photographic wonder to this week’s WW link up party, here. Thank you for making me apart of your day.  Please leave your comments footprints so that I know you came and I will hop over to your place soon. Have a fototastic day!

I grew up in WV, so I’m glad you mentioned “almost heaven” in your tag. So glad to hear the old barn is being taken care of. My in-laws house has a green tin roof. I was blessed to sleep under it a few times and listen to the rain on it.

Your photographs are beautiful. I just love old barns!

In reply to the comment you left on my post today: Wow, the mileage you get out of your vehicles is impressive! We’ve had a couple of Toyotas, too, and you are right, they really last! My husband drove his for 10 years, and put 225,000 miles on it before he sold it.

We drove through West Virginia on Saturday – Interstate 68 – 79 – 64. Spent the night in Charleston, and was off again on Sunday morning. Halfway down the 79 we passed through a thunderstorm. I thought it was glamorous, but it scared the hubby who was driving.

I miss all the green we passed through. Now stuck in our bleak and brown California desert.

There is something very special about old barns and farms. Maybe because they are disappearing. Glad your FIL saved this one. And my, what a marvelous view.

Wow, so many typo’s. Apologies for those, I think even though my body is up and about, my mind is still in bed!

A beautiful old barn and how great is that, your fil maintaining it so that it won’t fall down. So many of them day and even though they have their own beauty, it is lovely to see an old barn given so much TLC. Love your blog and all it’s wonderful photos, and I do love your kitty header. Have a great weekend! Such beautiful bright eyes.

Beautiful shots, I especially love the barn. Those old barns are going down left and right so I’m glad they put a new roof on it.
