Wild Wednesdays

Studio B & Nashville Photo-ops

We boarded the Studio B shuttle after we finished with the Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum.  Browsing through my pictures, it dawned on me I did a horrible job capturing our time there.

This is nearly all the song titles listed in the above photo I took inside Studio B

Now for a few views from our roaming about downtown Nashville. Broadway has a zillion honky tonks and they all play loud live music.  It’s almost deafening passing on the street, I can’t imagine how loud it is inside.  Next time, we’re down there we’ll be sure to wear ear plugs.

I’ll be sharing my newest artwork tomorrow with TAD. Come by if you have a chance! Have a wonderful day!

It was a lot of fun. I took quite a few pictures but when I look back I think I should’ve done a better job. Oh well, perhaps next time I’ll capture pictures I missed. 🙂

    Hi, Cathy!

Happy Wild, Wacky and Almost Wordless Wednesday, dear friend! I hope this hump day finds you in good health and good spirits.

It must have been a thrill for you and DH to travel to Nashville and tour the RCA studios where all those stars of country music and rock & roll recorded their hits and “The Nashville Sound” emerged. I found many of my favorite Elvis songs on your Studio B playlist including “Little Sister,” “Marie’s The Name,” “Devil In Disguise,” “It’s Now Or Never” and “Stuck On You.” I have two more Elvis favorites from that list to mention: “Ain’t That Lovin’ You Baby” and “Ask Me,” and there is a story attached to them. Those two songs were the A and B side songs on the first Elvis record I ever added to my vinyl collection. I vividly recall how that RCA 45 came into my possession. My dad had a career selling and servicing office equipment and machines. One day, circa 1965, he took me with him to a shop that installed one of his copiers so that he could perform maintenance. It just so happened that the guy who owned the shop had emptied a jukebox of its contents and was selling the old records it housed for only 10 cents each. I asked my dad if I could look through them while he serviced the copier and he agreed. I rummaged through two large cartons. To my dismay, most of the records were bland big band sounds, not my cup of tea, but eventually I found the two records I wanted that were in the rock & roll category.
One was Ricky Nelson’s “The Very Thought Of You” b//w “I Wonder (If Your Love Will Ever Belong To Me)” and the other was the Elvis double-sider I mentioned. Only 10 cents each, and they were still in very good condition!

I enjoyed your slide shows, and it was nice to catch a glimpse of my great friend’s reflection in the window glass. Have a happy Wednesday, dear friend Cathy. I’ll come over again tomorrow for your Thursday Art Date With Rain!

      Tom,

Oh yes, it was a thrill to spend a few days in Nashville to do these tings. It was an amazing experience. This trip is what inspired us to go back in December. 🙂

Thanks for sharing your story about how you came to own the Elvis’ double-sider. It’s hard to imagine anything once costing a mere dime these days but it did. Do you still have these prized records?

        Hi again, Cathy!

Mrs. Shady wouldn’t want me telling you this, but when we first started dating in the late 1980s, she was having trouble making ends meet. She was divorced, a single mother trying to raise a teenage daughter. Money was tight. Caring about her as I did, I sold my entire record collection including that Elvis “twofer” and gave her the money to help her out.
