Wordless Wednesday

South of Boone, NC along the Blue Ridge Parkway #WW

Hello, my lovely kittens and dawgs! We took one day trip to the mountains last month. I had hoped we could go more often but if you’ve read my earlier posts this week then you know I had too much on my plate to do much of anything extra.

On the 19th, we drove to Boone, North Carolina and went south on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The colors were either at peak or barely past it. We went to the mountains with the attitude of just enjoying the day and taking in the splendor whatever was on display. It was truly a gorgeous, sunny blue-skied fall day, too. The foliage crowd seekers were all too plentiful to suit my taste making every turn off jammed and nearly impossible to find parking. We knew it might be hectic but it was ridiculously busy for a Wednesday. All in all, it was a fabulous way to break some stress enjoying a little R&R in the North Carolina Appalachian mountains.

Oh that would be a beautiful drive!! Look at those colours. Ours are in their final stages now, with most of the leaves now on the ground. Soon it will be bare limbs against a blue sky… and then *eeek!!* snow covered. I love the transitions though.

Les, I noticed yesterday many of the leaves are still quite green. I don’t believe I remember a November where we had so many trees with green foliage. It’s an odd year. The trees that have changed are nice but nothing great. I like to see the autumn splendor, though. The temps are expected to cool off by Friday. Maybe that will trigger more change locally. I’m sure the mountains have naked trees now. It’s hard to believe how quickly this year is disappearing.
