Random Tuesday Thoughts

Saying goodbye

Yesterday,  two candles burned out.

England’s former Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher, age 87 who suffered with dementia died from an apparent stroke.

Mrs. Thatcher did a lot to reshape Britain during her period (May 1979 – Nov 1990) in office and many of us Americans equate the Iron Lady’s political savvy to that of our very own belated President Ronald Reagan. I have a deep appreciate for Mrs. Thatcher as a woman and leader.

Today, I cannot help but to feel Ronnie and Margaret who were friends in this life have not missed a beat in resuming their friendship beyond the pearly gates.

And, Annette Funicello, one of the original Mouseketeer’s, crossed over due to complications from MS at the age of 70.

Annette became American’s Sweetheart when she captured fans hearts on the big screen as the bikini wholesome clad beauty of the 60s beach movies with Frankie Avalone. I vaguely recall watching a few of these flicks when I was a kid and drawn to Miss Funicello’s “the girl next door” appeal. I  wanted to be like her – loved by all and super talented.

A gal so tender-hearted and one who seemed to be filled with genuine goodness, I have no doubt believing she’s now liberated from her earthly shackles (diseases) and suffers no more. I can also imagine the God I love and serve has placed Annette’s mansion on the beach, so she can sing and dance on the sand with… the angels.

Margaret….Annette…may you be at peace. I will miss you and many others will miss you, too. May God bless the loved ones these marvelous women leave behind!

This week is Patrice from Chats on a farmhouse porch birthday.  Wendell, The Wonder Horse, has taken over her meme today and is asking these questions….

  1. Are you enjoying spring? Spring is still a bit slow on the take, but on our glorious sunny & warm days I’m so lovin’ it!
  2. Where would you take Patrice for her birthday, if you could spend a day together. Wendell hopes you would bring her back!  I think I would rather like to take Patrice to lunch. You know a quaint little spot where we can get soup & sandwiches over some serious quality time to do a bit of chit-chat, then afterwards we can take a nice stroll simply wandering in and out of shops as we do some fun browsing. Who knows, maybe I’ll find a little something I can give the birthday girl. Finally, at the end of the day, I can return her home to Wendell because I think he would miss her more than all the carrots in the world, if I didn’t bring her back.
  3. What’s your favorite spring flower? I love just about anything that blooms this time of year, but I think I am partial to the daffodils and tulips.
  4. What do you do when you are going through a really stressful time?  Other than praying a lot, I try to find ways to de-stress – listen to music, monkey around on the web, do something creative, & sometimes just sleep. Yes, sleep can reset my mood because I know when I am running a deficit then stress magnifies because of it and a little nap can help me big time.
  5. What kind of birthday cake would you get for Patrice? And Wendell?  Seeing how I’m a chocoholic then I would be incline to making Patrice a chocolate fudge cake with creamy, vanilla butter-cream frosting. As for Wen, I know he would love a carrot cake – light on the cake and heavy on the carrots.

Happy Birthday, Patrice!
