Santa Got Stuck Up In The Chimney

I came across some kids singing this song when I noticed the songwriter, Paul Evans. At least I think it was the same. Evans’ version was an improvement and I almost used it until I came across Ella Fitzergerald singing about good ole Santa getting stuck which I liked even more and that’s when I looked the lyrics up for both. They are different songs with the slightest word change in the title ‘The’ is replaced in Ella’s to ‘My’.

Please press play to enjoy Ella singing ‘Santa Got Stuck Up In My Chimney’ from 1950.

Normally, this is DH’s off Friday but he decided to change Fridays. Next week he works Monday and Thursday, so changing Fridays out will make for a nice holiday week of togetherness! Here are a few Friday Sillies to kick off the weekend fun.

Here’s a fun activity if you have kids, have them to get creative by filling out this little activity If Santa got stuck in my chimney page. Another kid friendly project I found is Santa going down the chimney paper craft. For those who love to make their own Christmas greetings I found this Santa’s stuck in the chimney card project. It’s super cute and I’d love to try it but it’s a bit involved. Keeping with theme, I found a DIY Santa’s stuck in the chimney place setting idea.

Here’s hoping Santa doesn’t get stuck in your Chimney next week. Maybe, we need to leave the jolly ole elf some celery sticks instead of cookies. What do you think? Have a hap-hap-happy Christmas time!

  1. I agree with John. Ella is fabulous & she could sing the phone book and get an award for it. Have a great weekend sweetie. BIG HUGS!

  2. Our local community has an annual Christmas Parade. There is a group of friends that have re-created the Christmas Vacation station wagon and Winnebago. They make appearances all over the area and are a very popular attraction. Have a blessed week-end.

    1. Driller,

There is a guy in town who has a Griswold station wagon. He drives it all over town. It brings a lot of people joy to see him. We talked to the guy once and he was nice as can be. He has PA system hooked up where he can talk to people passing by. It’s a hoot! I believe he does charitable work using it, too. It’s great fun!

  3. I love Ella. Awesome.

I love the sense of humor of that homeowner.

Have a fabulous day and weekend, Cathy. Big hug. ♥

  4. Hi, Cathy!

Thank you very much for commenting on my post this morning, dear friend. I am making time for your Friday Sillies and then I need to get started loading my car and preparing for yet another big trip across the state this morning forming a convoy with a U-haul truck.

I remember a song from my boyhood about Santa getting stuck in the chimney, but it is not the same as the one you posted by Ella Fitzergerald. I enjoyed her whimsical ditty and her beautiful voice singing it. I also giggled looking at the cartoons related to Santa’s Christmas eve predicament. i wonder if anyone ever put out a dish of celery or parsley for Santa to help him lose weight and be slim enough to fit through the chimney. If they did I’m afraid they’d receive a lump of coal in return. 🙂

Thank you again for being a great friend and for understanding my limitations during this hectic holiday period. Have a wonderful day, dear friend Cathy!

    1. Tom,

I’m sure no one will ever leave Santa celery and carrots. It’s just not traditional and totally boring, too. Happy moving and Merry Christmas, my friend!
