Rush Now – Homeschool Resources for Sale!

Recess break is over and school is back is session for most,  if not all kids now. Why even Chicago has gotten back into the swing of things. But, not for me. Now, that DS has graduated and attending college, I’ve undertaken the very big job of doing a major clean up. In doing so, I found some materials no longer needed. Like this….

UPDATE: SOFTWARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE.

A couple of years ago in our home school, DS, decided he wanted to learn the Russian language. Against my better judgement, I agreed. Learning a foreign language of any kind is tricky in my opinion, but from my limited experience I figured Russian would be more difficult.

DS learned a few words and phrases, but didn’t really warm up to it. This left me nearly $200 out-of-pocket with little fruit in return. The good news is someone will be able to benefit from my purchase because I want to unload this software.

What’s in box:

  • The Interactive Software
  • Parent’s Guide
  • Supplemental Material (CD)
  • Audio Companion: CDs for practice on the go
  • Headset with microphone for speech recognition
  • User’s Guide
Condition: Good.  Price: $35 + shipping  – US & Canada

Right along side the Rosetta Stone, I found another foreign language software course which is doing no good collecting dust on my bookshelf, which I want to sell.

TellMeMore German
(No box. Includes – DVD, user guide, & license number)
Condition: Good.   Price: $25 + shipping  – US & Canada only

UPDATE: SOFTWARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE.

I also have these core subjects in software format: English, Math, Science, History, and Bible from the publisher Alpha-Omega.

  • Switched-On Schoolhouse  grade 11
  • Switched-On Schoolhouse  grade 12
(No box. Includes – installation instruction and CDs)
Condition: Good.  Price per/set:  $20 + shipping  – US & Canada

A word of caution: The Switched-On Schoolhouse has a few software glitches which were not properly ironed out before reaching the consumer’s hand. However, this did not keep my children from using it. You will need to spot check work to make sure questions are properly assigned. On t he positive side, this is a great resource for independent students work study and offers Mom a bit of a break.

UPDATE: SOFTWARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE.

If you buy one of the above software curriculum and would like some extra math for your child, then I have the stand-alone Alpha-Omega Switched-On Schoolhouse 2.0R Consumer Math program for grades 9-12 which I will sell for only $5 + shipping (Condition: Good.  No box. Includes: CD and instructions)

UPDATE: SOFTWARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE.

All sells are on a first come, first serve basis.  No returns accepted. If you’re interested, then please send your request to me.  I will place the software on hold and issue you a PayPal invoice for payment of sale.

Every time I hear this song…

I think of Rush Limbaugh. Why? In 1995 after the song released, Limbaugh joked about Paula singing to him.

1. Do you love or hate Rush Limbaugh? You probably have guessed, I am a Limbaugh fan. I think he’s hilariously entertaining and generally have both sides pegged pretty well.

2. How do you feel about political Talk Radio Hosts in general? I love the passion and dedication of most conservative Talk Show speakers. On the occasion I am able to listen, it serves to remind me of the principles that built this country strong. Not that I ever forgot or anything, but it stokes my patriotic spirit every time. God bless America!

BONUS: Do you have any political funnies (jokes, cartoons, videos,…)to share? Please leave me a link!

Russian sounds ridiculously hard to master. I have no head for languages.

    And no tolerance for politics.

I guess I’m really just all kinds of grumpy out here in AZ.

    ha!

Thanks for a fun stop this week, Cathy.

I hope someone snaps up this great deal!

    A+

I hear all the talk show stuff I can handle when I ride with my husband in his truck that has Sirius radio! But when he turns it off, I love being confined with him in that small space and just having conversation.

    • Cathy Kennedy

I really should have clarified talk show as in Radio talk shows. I’m not much of broadcast TV viewer, either. But, if I do watch TV talk shows then it’s usually Leno or Letterman.

  • storybeader

I think Russian is such a pretty looking language. And I have family from there too. So I have a personal attachment. But not willing to learn the language at this time. Hope someone wants to buy it. If not, you may want to donate it to your local library! {:-D

Hi Cathy ~~ I like your double “R” words, Russion and Rosetta. We have tried to learn Spanish but it is hard for us. Mrs. Jim is OK with French and I do so-so with German, enough so we can navigate around Europe fairly well. Besides most of the youth speak English pretty well. They like to practice their English on Americans, the Chinese youth like that too.

    1. Rush will NEVER be heard on my radio when I have control. We think he makes a living being stupid. He really turned us off after his young girl/Viagra episodes.

    2. I don’t listen to political talk show hosts. The “L” word TV talk show hosts, Letterman and Leno can tell me all I want to know about what stupid things they are saying. MOSTLY THOUGH, the reason I don’t listen to themn or even pay much attention to any of the “R” word Republican politicians lately because they have all turned to being so HATEFUL. I am a card carrying Republican but lately I have been voting Democratic unless there is a Christian ACTING (love your fellow man, not HATEFUL) candidate running.

Bonus: I am a conservative but the modern conservatives are not truly conservative. Most are a JOKE. Actually it is the richer and/or the status seekers who claim to be conservatives but most don’t know what the word means except that the word appeals to uninformed voters.

On a lighter side, I like your 102-112. Mrs. Jim is 108-110 and that is a healthy number. I dropped 20 but right now a couple of them came back.

Our beagle dog, Adi died this Monday and I will post about her when I can spend the time and can feel right about doing it. You have probably seen her posts and/or her meme. There is a link to her meme on my sidebar. She was 16 years and 17 days old. Per her vet’s advice we kept her numbers on the light side between 25-28 as he said doing this ‘could’ add a couple of years for her. I think it did.

I always wondered if I could do it, but I’m very slow at grasping things. Always been that way unfortunately. If it clicks then it clicks all the way, but if it doesn’t it definitely DOES NOT! Very informative Post. Thanks for sharing.

I would love to learn to speak a foreign language, but my biggest problem is understanding all the sounds. As a child, I suffered many ear infection and it resulted in some hearing loss. To this day, I struggle with mispronunciation of words or understanding song lyrics or soft spoken voices… Thankfully none of my kiddoes have ever had problems with their ears and can hear the tiniest of sounds – like their daddy. They grasped the foreign languages, but didn’t want to work at it. Oh well, it’s not like they are going to need it anyhow, right? =D

  • Catherine OurVillageIs

We are a homeschooling family as well, and I just did a shelf cleaning The curriculum sure does pile up!

I think Rush is funny, smart, and as you mentioned, passionate. He definitely has a gift and so many people either love him, or hate him. he is definitely doing something right!

Did you see that Bill O’Reilly and Jon Stewart are having a mock debate? It should be funny.

    • Cathy Kennedy

I did not see this about O’Reilly and Stewart. Is this going to be on broadcast TV? If so, then I’ll have to watch for it or maybe somebody will put it up on YouTube.

I studied Russian while studying French and polishing my family second language of Spanish. Russian is a difficult language to learn. I am looking for Rosetta stone for my daughter, but we need Italian, German, and French. She already has studied all three for a few years. It’s required for up and coming opera singers. Mamma does well just to come up with the right word in English! :)lol I do speak Wendell quite well.
