America’s Got Talent 2010 Final Results

Like millions of Americans, I tuned in last night to watch the final results of America’s Got Talent. In the past, I’ve only been a casual viewer of this program as I’m not much of TV watcher, but this year, my husband, son, and  I watched it more regularly.

Amongst the final four contestants, Prince Poppycock was by far my less favorite. He is simply too outrageous for me. Undoubtedly, he has a great voice. This much I will credit him for and I’m quite certain with his flamboyant style he will land it big in Vegas, NYC, or Hollywood. My third runner-up pick was Fighting Gravity. Although, these young men are practically in my backyard attending Virginia Tech, which is only a short drive north of Knoxville on I-81, I felt some loyalty toward them for this mere fact. My husband and son really loved this act and felt their performances were awesome. I thought they were pretty neat and I could see them in the spotlight at Vegas jamming theaters with spectators, but it simply didn’t do too much for me other than that.

Now, this brings me down to the top two: Michael Grimm and Jackie Evancho two of my favorites among many who paraded across America’s Got Talent stage. I just didn’t know who should be honored with the prestigious one million dollar cash prize, as well as headlining the America’s Got Talent Road tour, and having their own Vegas show. I was torn, really torn.

Jackie has a phenomenal voice for someone so young. She’s better than many popular singers on the chart today. I know she’ll only continue to grow in her talent. She has many years ahead and if she didn’t get it, I thought someone is going to latch onto her in a heart beat. That little girl is pure sugar – “a little angel ” as Piers Morgan called her. Jackie captured Americans hearts and perhaps the world with her beautiful voice and sweet disposition.

Michael’s style is unique. He doesn’t sound like all the other young male artists. He has this jazzy blues type sound, which I love. The songs he selected suited him to a tee. I thought, if this guy comes out with a CD then I’m buying one. I saw him as a talented young man who is trying to make his way into the entertainment industry with aspirations of helping his grandparents.  This was so heart warming.

As I said, torn with who I truly wanted to be picked for the top spot on America’s Got Talent, I knew regardless who got it, then I’d be happy for the winner. My husband called his  pick at the commercial break. Still, I couldn’t do it. Once the program resumed and Nick Cannon slowly revealed the winner as…Michael Grimm elated me! Bless his heart, you could see the genuine disbelief on his face with the news that he had just been placed first in a 16-week contest. My hat (not yours this time) is off to you, Michael.

Congratulations and may your future be prosperous!
