Not Out of the Woods Yet

Mama Kat’s Pretty Much World Famous Writer’s Workshop is an excellent way to inspire blog posts. One of this week’s prompts was absolutely dead on for me to write about….#4 Write about something that complicates your life. Really? It’s as if Mama Kat read my mind. Oh pooh, this is gonna be easy peasy! Trust me, this is exactly what I need at this point.

At the beginning of the week, I ranted a bit about headaches with Dell Corporation here. As you may remember our desktop hard drive (HD) died unexpectedly on us on August 4th.

The situation at the moment is this, we received our new HD on Tuesday and to my delight, Dell sent Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit operating system (OS) & driver discs to us over-night. It arrived yesterday. DH replaced the HD last night and I began installing the OS, which  I completed before going to bed.

At the start of this morning, I wasted no time to boot the desktop to begin installing the necessary drivers. That’s done. Next, re-installed Norton 360 and downloaded all updates. Done. Now, I’m running a full system scan. This will take a little time.

Setting up a new HD on the customer’s end takes a lot of work. It usually is an entire day process of doing nothing more than reinstalling software and checking for updates. Nothing more can complicate your life than computer woes. You can’t live with them and you certainly don’t wanna can’t live without them!

Once this is all done, then we can…hopefully…load our extracted data files. Best Buy is in the process of retrieving these for us, if you clicked on the above link and read my post from Tuesday, then you already knew this. For those who didn’t take time, shame on you! Nah, just pulling your leg. Now, you are up to speed.

We are NOT out of the woods yet, but the old light at the end of the tunnel is glowing a little brighter this morning.

Visit Miss Jenny and the rest of the Alphabe-Thursday classroom for more homework assignments of the letter ‘N’ and while you’re hopping around, be sure to play along with Miss Amanda in her latest edition of Thursday Two Questions.

1. How do you handle life’s complications, head on or run away?

2. When was the last time you felt like you’re not out of the woods yet?

Oh my gosh, I have been reading about your computer woes. Hopefully by now you are back up and running smoothly. At least Dell sent you the Windows discs. the pre-loads companies do these days are not good. You two are computer savvy why don’t you do what we do and build your own system? You can build twice the computer for half the costs.

    Hooray!

I love when the light starts shining brighter at the end of the tunnel!

I can’t even talk about computer issues without my blood pressure going up!

    Stay strong!

It’ll get done soon, I hope!

Thanks for a nifty link for the letter ‘N’.

    A+

Computers are complicated! My husband bought me a new PC computer a couple of years ago from a small PC store in our small town. It has been perfect. I have free maintenance for life, free anti-virus for life. Anytime I have a problem, it’s into the local shop for a day or two. Then I get it back, just like new. No charges or fees. They back up files if needed and put them back on again. It has completely simplified my computer woes. It does cost a little more to get a PC, but it’s well worth it!

After waiting for two weeks to get internet service from AT&T, I finally completely lost it earlier this week and actually scared Rod because he had never seen me in such a rage. Fortunately, later that night I got a tech that was actually from America, and in fact, only 100 miles from here. She was so kind and helpful and 36 hours later, I was GOOD TO GO!!

Wow. That is a long time to be dealing with computer issues. I’m so glad that soon it seems things will come together properly though.

    1. I feel that way right now. Something about our school and the teachers being null and void in the head.

    2. Oh I guess this is number 1. See what I’m saying. I’m all upset and not thinking straight.
Yes, just this morning. I wanted to do something that I figured would be worth it, but I had my kids and so had to set an example.

    Sigh.
    Sigh
    Sigh.
Sorry for sighing all over your blog. It’s just been a rough morning.

Sorry to hear about your problem with the computer! It is one of the fears for me since I have an online business and must be able to work on orders.

My husband usually comes to the rescue if something happens 🙂

    1. How do you handle life’s complications, head on or run away? I handle my complications head-on. I despise cowards or people who cannot take responsibility or be accountable for anything. that said, I probably know many people that I think are not strong enough or willing to take on enough, but I could be dumb enough too…and they are smarter to not be accountable for anything. Yet, I don’t regret being the dumb one, since I can always say I’ve lived to the fullest of my potential…agree my friend?

    2. When was the last time you felt like you’re not out of the woods yet? gees, everyday. there are problems that just take longer to fix, there are projects that cannot be completed in one or two fixings. Example…my roof, my table, my cabinets, my toilets, ah…i am boring you I am sure. have a wonderful weekend Miss Cathy K!

I hate dealing with computer problems. That why I agreed with DH when he said he wanted to pay a monthly tech support fee ($9.99) to our provider, AT&T. And you know, it might take a bit of time, but they have helped us out of A LOT of jams!

I usually handle problems straight on, and get them over with.
And I’m (we’re) not out of the woods right now; waiting for the appraiser to tell our refinancer that the house is worth millions! …wishful thinking… {:-D

Hmmm – how do I handle life’s complications? Sometimes head on, and sometimes I tend to be an ostrich for awhile and mull the situation over before acting…

  • Casey

A headache is right, unexpected computer troubles are such a bother! I dabbled on this topic as well for Mama Kat this week and to answer your question I think this time I handled it head on. 🙂
    Thanks For Sharing!

Glad you are up and running….but you will never completely get out of those woods♫

  • Emily Spark

Oh my…computer issues stink. Fortunately, the overnight that software to you. I dabble in tech stuff at work, and it is the one thing that interrupts me the most from my day!

  • VBR

Very glad to hear that the computer problems are improving. Computers! They make me crazy!
Sometimes, I think of Life as being In The Woods, and I kind of travel along the pathways sometimes seeing light at the end of the tunner, and others realizing I must have turned off the main road! (lot of mixed metaphors there I think?)
