Hello, kittens & dawgs! I’m so glad you included in your day. On Wednesday, I shared another look at Wiseman’s View. Well, that same we got on the Blue Ridge Parkway near Linville Falls; our destination Mount Mitchell, but that’s for another time. Today, I want to take you to community of Little Switzerland.
We have visited the Little Switzerland Inn many times over the years, but never stayed there. I have this place on my Dream List for a wonderful relaxing weekend getaway someday. I can imagine sitting quietly in one of the Adirondack style rockers with a cup of coffee soaking up a gorgeous sunrise or sunset.
This is the view I would see…
The clouds look a bit ominous with a gentle nippy wind caressing our skin. Soon after I snapped this picture the rain began falling softly on us scattering us to the car.
What view is in your camera’s eye? Do you like exploring new places?

Now, I’m joining Lexa in Celebrate the small things.
I’m celebrating… life in general. The blessings of another day is a gift. I’m in good health except for allergies and we’re still living in a place we love that we truly enjoy. All these things are worth celebrating!
What are you celebrating?
Join the party below!
Let’s begin celebrating with Friendship Friday and Friday Features linky parties where you’re sure to make new friends and get lots of inspiration!
That’s a wrap for now, but come back Monday for Mewsic Moves Me and to see if your artist choice for my May 15th Battle of the Bands won. That means you still have time to vote! 😉 Have a fototastic weekend!

Wow, such a lovely view you have here. I lived in Switzerland for 4 years and I can say I miss it terribly 🙂
I would have the biggest cup of coffee in the world, just so I could linger longer and enjoy that view!! What a beautiful place. You definitely have to enjoy a weekend getaway there and report back to us!! 🙂
That is so pretty! Yes, we are blessed to (mostly) have our health! And to have our eyesight to take in such beautiful views.

Stephanie, another excellent reason to celebrate-our eyesight! Our senses make life all the more enjoyable. I can’t imagine living in a world of darkness or silence. I guess my ears & eyes are my most valued senses. Thanks for this reminder.
This looks to be the perfect place for a weekend getaway.
That’s a gorgeous view… but then the whole thing looks amazing. Thanks for sharing 🙂
That view is exquisite! Sitting on the patio with a cup of coffee and looking at that view would be so peaceful. It’s hard to worry about your problems when you have such magnificent nature all around. Thanks for the awesome pics and have a great weekend!
Lexa, just visiting the mountains is a fabulous way to forget ones troubles, but to sit in a place like this soaking up the surroundings would be like a sedative for the soul ~ total relaxation!
Pretty pictures. Sounds like a nice trip. Day trip?
Liz, yes it was another day trip. We spend a lot of time in the western North Carolina mountains. Other than the Smoky’s, this is our go-to spot to relax the body and mind.
Hi Cathy!
Thanks so much for coming by my blog for the Celebrate hop last week, I’m sorry I’m late in returning the visit but I’m so glad to meet you and discover your site. What beautiful pictures! Now I want to go to Little Switzerland. I can dream of waking up to that view.
I’m looking forward to following your blog – so nice again to meet you. Enjoy your weekend!
Julie, it’s good to have you visit. Little Switzerland, especially at the inn is a lovely, quaint area. Every time we visit, my mind thinks we’re in the Swiss alps. The Blue Ridge mountains are like rolling hills in comparison, but the charm of the inn sort of transports my mind temporarily. 🙂
Those things are definitely worth celebrating! When things get too out of hand, it’s nice to take a step back and be grateful for just those things.
The Little Switzerland Inn looks like a lovely place to stay. If I’m ever in the area, I’ll look it up.
Lori, I’m thankful for all small things in my life, really. You’re right, it’s often time easy to over look them and to give thanks because we take this part of our life for granted.
Hey, Cathy, did you get the e-mail I sent through your contact page about book promotion? Or at least, I think I sent it. If you could let me know the best way to contact you, that would be great, if you’re still interested in doing a promo post for my new book. Sorry, I’m a little scattered and having trouble keeping track of everything.
Travel is one of my biggest passions and I love to explore historic sites. 🙂 Little Switzerland looks like a lovely place for a getaway, despite the gloomy sky. Great shots!
Debbie, despite the gray clouds or rain these elements can actually enhance your experience. We enjoy driving along the BRP after a rain because it gets crazy foggy and it creates a mysteriousness which we like. You can’t see much, but it makes for a really cool drive.
Yes, foggy drives are fraught with mystery. Gothic! 🙂
Hi, Cathy!
This is yet another post that gives me and Mrs. Shady ideas for our upcoming trip(s). Little Switzerland is along the proposed route of the journey by car that I recently plotted, and the Little Switzerland Inn is most certainly our kind of place, our kind of experience. I can imagine the thrill of dining on that terrace and gazing at the awesome view. When I was a boy all of our outdoor patio furniture was Adirondack style, made with those wooden slats. I love the mountains and would prefer to visit a place like this in the fall or early spring when the air is cool/cold and crisp. I grow very tired of the long hot summers here in Florida.
Thank you very much for showing us another beautiful spot, dear friend Cathy, and have a great weekend!
Tom, Little Switzerland is an easy work in for y’alls trip. This spot is very quiet even when it’s busy. The mountains seem to absorb the noise of people. We found even in the middle of summer the temperatures feel better at the Little Switzerland Inn’s 4000ft. elevation than in Knoxville. Generally there’s a breeze all year round on the BRP and that’s a huge help in the warmer months, but when the weather turns cool then the wind isn’t such a welcome. lol The mountains are our escape spot even more when we’re feeling the heat of summer. I’m glad I gave you and Mrs. Shady another attraction to check out while on vacation. 🙂 Have an awesome weekend!
Yes, I do like to explore and discover places new to me. Never been to Little Switzerland to my recollection. Sounds like a wonderful place to visit.

Tossing It Out
Lee, the Little Switzerland Inn about 30-45 minutes north of the Mount Mitchell turn on the BRP, if that helps to jog your memory. Exploring and discovering new places is a treat for us, too. I always hope when we’re out that we stumble upon a new find. Have a good weekend!
