It’s Groundhog Day!

This morning, Punxsy Phil declared six more weeks of winter.  I knew Mother Nature was fooling us yesterday with it being 60º.  Anywho, sorry for the late start today.  I wanted to get the 411 to share with you straight away. You can watch the coverage at Phil’s prediction at Gobbler’s Knob yourself below.

One of my (our) all-time favorite movies is Groundhog Day(trailer).  It’s become a classic in my opinion.  The script, the acting, everything is fabulous.  I think it was last week bloggy bud, Birgit shared “Time” themed songs for her mid-week post which got me to thinking today to look for time loop/travel films.  I came up with 10 movie trailers to share with you that I’m curious to see with the exception of Westworld. We just finished the all three seasons on HBOMax.  There’s a projected date for the fourth season to air in May but that’s not confirmed.

I (we) am the kind of person who really doesn’t want to have to rent or buy a movie, if I can find the streaming version on one of our subscription services.  I found all but one the films listed and if you’re interested in these, then here’s where you can view these movies.

Boss Level and Palm Springs are on Hulu.  I found these full-length movies to stream for free on YouTube: Retroactive, 12:01, Timescape (1992) Grand Tour: Disaster In Time , and Donnie Darko.  I wasn’t able to find Time Runner available for streaming at no additional cost on any of my current subscription services. The Philadelphia Experiment can be watched on Amazon with ads.

Here are my responses to Joyce’s Wednesday Hodgepodge questions this week.

1. The Wednesday Hodgepodge landing on Groundhog’s Day sounds about right. Besides the Hodgepodge what else lands on your calendar just once a week? Is it as much fun as the Hodgepodge-ha!? I generally post six days a week and each are assigned with specific content for each day.  I have my Sunday Edition of Monday’s Music Moves Me, Tickle Me Tuesday, Wild Wednesday which include the hodgepodge, Thursday Art Date, Friday Funnies or Fun Stuff, and Saturday Songsuasion.  My daily entries are filled mostly with music and humor with the exception of Thursdays where I like to share my art sketches if time permits.  I’m struggling a bit lately to get back into the groove with drawing. I think all of my participations each day are equally fun.

2. The Winter Olympics begin on Friday, surrounded by much controversy. Will you be watching? Why or why not? Have you ever been to China?  I have no plans to watch the Olympics.  It’s gotten too political and that has taken away the fun of the sports.  No, I have not been to China.  Most Asian countries don’t appeal to me. I like the cuisine and that’s as close to China that I’ll ever come.

3. Something in your life lately that has felt a bit like an ‘olympic event’? Buying certain grocery related items online before they are out of stock again takes precise timing and swift action.

4. Do you like fondue? Sweet or savory? Restaurant only or do you own your own fondue set?  I don’t think I’ve ever had fondue.  I think melted cheese for dipping would be a favorite with me.

5. Give us five short (2-3 word) phrases to sum up your January. Gone too fast!

6. Insert your own random thought here.  With it being Groundhog Day, how about a little more groundhog humor?

Yesterday, I shared some pre-Groundhog Day humor if you want more giggles.  😆

I invite you to join the linky party where just about anything goes on Wild Wednesdays. This is your opportunity to self-promote your current post or another favorite.  No rules to follow, except to keep things family friendly and for only personal bloggers to use this link up.  Violators will be taken down.

More Wednesday link up connections… Sandee, NatashaMarie, & Wordless Wednesday!

I can’t let you slide through the rest of the week without closing with a new music discovery.  I came across the Boston based rock Indie band, Juniper “Regret” which sparked my curiosity to hear more and after visiting YouTube I found a 10-song playlist on their channel.  Give ’em a listen while you poke around Blogosphere.

Distance Keeps Me Distant album song tracks: 1. Angelina 2. Daydream 3. Driving 4. Puzzle Pieces 5. We’re Fighting Wars from Every Direction 6. Cedar Lane 7. Out of Nowhere 8. Distance Keeps Me Distant 9. Overthinking 10. More Than I Can Handle

I’m unsure what my next post will be Thursday Art Date or Friday Fun Stuff at this point but hopefully I’ll have something up tomorrow to share. 😉  This is CAAC signing off and saying have a wonderfully, wild day!

  1. Happy Groundhog Day! Of course if your weather is warm and pretty at the beginning of February you will see winter come roaring back. If it’s nasty at the start of February, winter is already spending itself out and the temps will warm up a bit earlier this year.

Love your answers, your funnies, and the music. Groundhog Day the movie is so much fun!

  2. If Groundhog’s Day came in late March we might be irked about more winter. Fortunately it isn’t! Love all your funnies!

  3. Winter will end when it does and I am not going to put too much pressure on a rodent:)) I love the comics especially the cooking ones. I knew a man that probably did cook some up when I was young (I found skunk and squirrels in his outside fridge. Well, that was his only fridge.

Thanks for the shout out too:)) Time Loops movie or time travel movies are always a hit but I couldn’t play your list unfortunately. I have not seen the TV show Westworld but would give it a shot. I love Somewhere in Time, 12 Monkeys, Terminator, Austin Powers movies, Peggy Sue Got Married, The Time Machine, Star Trek 4, Time After Time, Frequency. There are a few 🙂
I enjoyed reading your answers to the hodgepodge. I blog about music on Wednesdays and Movie Picks on Thursdays. When I get back into it, I will be posting my card making as well. I doubt I will watch much with the Olympics. It just seems more about sponsorship, money, inside dealings so one country gets the games instead of the one who deserves it. I may watch some figure skating and the snowboarding stuff but…we shall see. I have 2 friends who went to China. The one loved seeing the clay warriors(which I would love to see), the Forbidden City and the Great Wall. My other friend saw the Great Wall but twice, when he went, near Shanghai and in another province, the smog was so bad that he could not see his outstretched hand!! Smog is horrible over there and many do die from it which we don’t hear about. I would love to try chocolate fondue and a mild cheese fondue..sounds yummy but I would need to wear a 70s pantsuit. January seems lost to me.

    1. Birgit,

I don’t put a lot of stock in a groundhog, either. It’s just fun! 😉 You listed some great movies with the same theme. Thanks for sharing your answers to the hodgepodge set. It was great to read them! 🙂

  4. We also loved Groundhog Day! I love all your pictures. Sorry to hear it’s so cold with you guys. Here in Sunny South Africa, it’s been scorching hot for days! We finally have some rain and it does cool it down a bit.

    Have a wonderful Wednesday!

  5. No matter what the groundhog does it’s still 6 more weeks of winter.

Love all the funnies and I need to watch Groundhog Day again. It’s such a fun movie.

Thank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday, Cathy. Love and hugs. ♥

  6. Hi, Cathy!

Happy Wild, Wacky and Almost Wordless Wednesday and Groundhog Day 2022, dear friend!

I’ve been hunting high and low for this post since 6 am. Thanks for explaining that you held off publishing because you were awaiting breaking news from Western PA where Phurry Phil the phamous whistle pig winter weather prognosticator was spooked by his own shadow this morning and has forecast six more weeks of winter. For Floridians, that’s great news, but I know you and friends farther to the north wish it would have gone the other way.

I enjoyed your Sillies to mark the occasion, beginning with grumpy Maxine who hit the nail on the head about those lunches served in the school cafeteria. Most of the time, they tasted like groundhog. I also got a kick out of the groundhog who prefers to stay in bed under the warm covers on Feb. 2 and simply text his forecast to the world. I also giggled at the enterprising groundhog who is making $$$ by branching out and predicting the winner of the Super Bowl for those who want to place bets on the outcome of the game.

Yessum, you know that I like Evan Rachel Wood, so much so that I have made one of her characters a regular presenter at Shady’s Place. I am eager to watch Westworld because I have learned to trust your recommendations. Boss Level looks like it is loaded with action and violence, but I am a sucker for movies with time loop plots and I will add it to my watch list. I like Jonathan Silverman and Martin Landau, and would also enjoy watching the 1993 time loop film 12:01. I’m surprised I never heard of it. I also never heard of Timescape. Jeff Daniels is one of my favorite actors and I am eager to see that one, too. I am also a fan of Abigail Breslin, and her movie Haunter looks like scary fun. The movie I would most like to see is Palm Springs because it stars the fabulous yet underrated actress Cristin Milioti. I loved her TV series called A To Z and saw her in Fargo and The Mindy Project. She’s just delightful, cute as a button.

Your Hodgepodge answers always interest me. We have been noticing shortages of many different kinds of products in stores down here. Like many other events like the Miss America pageant and the World Series, the Olympics used to be a big deal to me, a can’t miss event. I am no longer interested in watching the games in summer or in winter.

Thanks for the introduction of the Juniper boy band from Beantown. My favorite song in their set is “Driving” feat. Claudia, a video that reminds me of Carpool Karaoke. The boys are literally a “band on the run” in the nicely produced video for “More Than I Can Handle.”

Thanks for the heaping helping of humor and entertainment, dear friend Cathy. I have a post running this week if you’d care to visit. Have a great day and I’ll be back tamale for your Rain Date feature!

    1. Tom,

I haven’t watched any of the time loop/travel movies but am anxious to give a few a try. I hope Phil made a mistake on the weather forecast. Looking ahead into next week, our daily highs won’t be too bad in the mid-50s. Our overnight lows are forecast to still be below freezing most evenings. I expect this month to fly right out the window like January which means spring will be here all the sooner. Of course, I know you aren’t looking forward to the return of warmer weather and I wouldn’t either living as far south as you but that’s the trade off I suppose to residing in a warmer climate. I reckon there is such thing as a perfect environment year round. Thanks for joining me today. I hope I can pull together a post for tomorrow. I’m running short on time these days. TTFN!
