How Do You Spell Your Name?

Awww Mondays hosted by Sandee from Comedy Plus.

Hello! I hope you had a good weekend.  I came up with this week’s theme, Use a band or artist to spell your full name, either real or blog.  I said bands or artists?!  Yep, that’s what I said alright. Initially, I came up shorthanded with my own theme. *roll eyes* How is that even possible, am I not suppose to have a direction? I struggled with using my blog name but managed to build a short playlist spelling ‘Cathy’.  My brain was feeling too taxed.  But, no sooner did I plug the songs into my CATHY Acrostic playlist below, my mojo kicked in and I came up with a second playlist.  Instead of trying to analysis my approach, I listed 15 bands and picked the first song for each one that popped out to spell Curious as a Cathy.   Listen to one or both sets. Are you ready to hit the dance floor?

CATHY Acrostic using Chicago songs.

  1. Call On Me
  2. Alive Again

  6. URBAN, Keith “Blue Ain’t Your Color
  7. SCORPIONS “Rock You Like a Hurricane”
  8. AC/DC “Back in Black”
  9. SANTANA ft. Steven Tyler “Just Feel Better”
  10. AEROSMITH “Walk This Way”
  11. CCR “Commotion”
  12. ANIMALS, The “House of the Rising Sun”
  13. TURTLES, The  “Happy Together”
  14. HOLLIES, The “The Air That I Breathe” 1
  15. YES “Owner of a Lonely Heart”

This is a music linky party.  Your co-hostess are listed in my sidebar below the 4M banner.  Every other week we have a suggested music theme to build your song set around and all participants share YouTube or Vimeo videos for our music enthusiasts.  Themes aren’t mandatory but failure to meet the basic guideline (post must contain music) puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.

    1. I don’t think I could spell my name out with song titles or band names if it weren’t for the Internet. lol The research certainly helps to refresh my memory. 🙂

Does this mean I get an A++? lol The overachievers in school I thought were just being show offs but maybe they really liked being challenged. 🙂

  3. Hi, Cathy!

Happy Paw-some 4M Monday, dear friend! I hope you and DH had a nice weekend.

Awww… I just wanna smooch that cute little hammie. Hang in there, little buddy! Mrs. Shady #1 had a hamster and brought it with her when we married.

I like this week’s 4M theme. It offers a diverse assortment of artists and styles. Nothing beats the glorious sound of those Chicago horns first thing on a Monday morning. They get the week started right. “Call On Me’ has long been a Chicago favorite of mine, and you found a brilliantly remastered mix of the hit. “Alive Again” reminds me of Elton John’s hit “Philadelphia Freedom.” “Hard To Say I’m Sorry” and “You’re The Inspiration” are two more great, lushly orchestrated, romantic power ballads by Chicago, two more important songs on the soundtrack of boomer lives.

“White Room” by Cream was one of the biggest hits from my college years. I owned the Disraeli Gears and Wheels of Fire albums and played them often. Coincidentally, I just heard “Creep” by Radiohead a couple of nights ago on the soundtrack of a horror movie I watched: Fear Street: Part One – 1994, the first film in the 2021 Fear Street Trilogy horror series. “This Old Heart Of Mine” by The Isley Brothers was a very popular play on the dance hall jukebox at The Shady Dell. The song ranks #20 on my list of the 200 Greatest Dell Hits. The video for “Rock You Like a Hurricane” by The Scorpions was heavily requested and often played at the MTV station where I worked in the 80s, and the same goes for “Back In Black” by AC/DC. In recent years, I have watched several excellent covers of “Back In Black” on YouTube. It almost takes my breath away to see one of my favorite bands, The Animals, in that clean, sharp, bright, full color restoration video with HQ sound as they do one of their signature songs “House Of The Rising Sun.” It looks like the performance was filmed only yesterday… not 59 years ago. “Happy Together” brings back memories of the job I had as a teenager working in a supermarket as a produce clerk. That song played often on a radio in my work room located in a secluded spot at the rear of the store. It kept me company while I prepared fruits and vegetables for the display case. i also enjoyed the selections by Santana, CCR, Hollies and the prog rock band Yes.

Thanks for the great array of sounds to start the week, dear friend Cathy. FYI – after today, my current post at Shady’s Place has one more day to run before it gets bumped by my new post on Wednesday. You are invited to join the fun. Have a good week and I’ll be back to see you for your Thursday Art Date With Rain!

    1. Good morning, Tom!

I sure do appreciate your early bird visits. Reading your messages first thing is a good way to start the day/week. My BFF when I was a kid who lived two houses away from mine had a hamster. I thought that was pretty neat but it sure was messy kicking stuff out of its cage and a bit stinky. lol Chicago is a great oldie band. I love their work from the 70s and 80s. Thanks for reminding me that your current post is fixing to expire. I’m heading over to your place now! Have a boogietastic week, my friend!
