Head-to-toe and everything in-between!

Can you believe that the middle of May is fast approaching?  Mondays sure do seem to last forever but when you look at the big picture the days zing by! Before we step out onto the dance floor here’s a word from our sponsor.

This game made me antsy to play but I loved it!

Normally, I slate my 4M posts on Sunday but with Mother’s Day yesterday, I reserved it to honor my mom and if you have time you might want to check it out.

Mews Alert!! Marie is away from Blogsphere for a few days.  She went to Missouri to take care of her baby girl who is having surgery today.  God knows all about it and I hope you’ll ask the Big Guy to guide the surgeon’s hands with care and for all the medical staff tending to her. I know the extra prayers will be appreciated.

This month’s honorary co-host, Michele suggested an interesting theme for this week, ‘Body Parts Song Titles‘.  I invite you to click play to listen to the entire set while surfing the net or cleaning the house. Are you ready to groove to the tunes?

I used Songfacts to build my YT playlist and was amazed by the number of tracks featuring today’s theme.  Here are my songs from head-to-toes and everything in-between!

  1. Head Games ~ Foreigner
  2. Head to Toe ~Olly Murs
  3. Head Over Heels ~Tear For Fears
  4. Behind Blue Eyes ~The Who
  5. Felt Good On My Lips ~Tim McGraw
  6. Oh For A Thousand Tongues to Sing ~David Crowder Band
  7. Sunshine On My Shoulders ~John Denver
  8. I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight ~Cutting Crew
  9. He’s Got the Whole World In His Hand ~Laurie London
  10. Fingertips ~OneRepublic
  11. Hot Legs ~Rod Stewart
  12. Down On My Knees ~Bread
  13. Feet In The Clouds ~Paul McCartney
  14. Toes ~Zac Brown Band

On behalf of the 4M crew, you’re invited to join us on the dance floor!

🎶  This is a mewsic linky party, all other posts are subjected for removal or labeled – NO MUSIC! 🎶

  1. I love all your choices, Cathy! I also love that our two great minds picked the same Tim McGraw song – it can be an ear worm, but in a good way. 😉 And I totally forgot about the Tears for Fears and Zac Brown Band songs – those brought back great memories! 🙂 Thanks for the dance! 🙂

    1. Stacy,

It’s fun to see who matches my ear. We certainly did this time. 🙂 Thanks for popping by to boogie with me, my friend!

  2. I’m late on the dance floor, but I’m here. Just going through some struggles is all.
Marie and her daughter will be in my prayers.

Your list is on fire! I love the oldies! Thanks for the dance.

    Have a blessed week!

    1. Colette,

My blog door is always open. Just scoot by when you can anytime. I’m sorry to hear you’re dealing with some things. Life has a way of dishing us a plateful when we don’t want it, huh? Saying prayers for you, my dear!

    1. Thanks for joining me on the dance floor, Keith! Rod’s isn’t cutting the country boy look in his bibs. Trust me, you aren’t gonna find any country boys wearing a belt with theirs and the earring? Well…that totally doesn’t work either. lol

  3. Great choices, you really outdid yourself. I love Operation and already played with my 3 yr old great-niece who has a steady hand for her age.

    1. Ellen,

Everyone loves Operation as annoying as it is. I wonder why? I guess it’s the thrill of the challenge to try to not set the buzzer off. 🙂

  4. Great choices! My faves are Tim McGraw and John Denver. Strangely enough, country girl that I am, I’ve always loved I Just Died in Your Arms Tonight.

  5. An awesome list you have today, Cathy! We had a couple overlaps, but you made up for it with a bunch that I didn’t even think about. Thanks for the introductions to the new to me groups, too. Good fun all around!

Hope surgery goes well for Marie’s daughter. See you on Wednesday for a round of battles 🙂

    ~Mary

    1. Mary,

I saw a lot of overlaps with many but nearly everyone brought a new song title to the dance floor. Michele really picked a great theme, didn’t she? I got word from Marie yesterday that her daughter did not have the surgery due to a mix-up. The nurse scheduled her for a different day. smack forehead I’m telling you, you have to stay on top of stuff like this if you want to make sure it’s on track. No one is going to take care of your business like you! Thanks for asking. 🙂

  6. First we want to send Healing Pawkisses to the little girl and wish Mary much strenghts, as we know that she needs it right now. We said purrayers also yesterday, but forgot about to mention it on your bloggie <3
You have made a great and complete body list from head to toe, CK, I’m feeling kind of incomplete with our songs now😜 We love Foreigner. Haven’t listen to them for quite a while. Now let’s dance the night away with the rest of the crew 😀 Pawkisses for a wonderful day🐾😽💞

  7. This was a great set! You got a bunch I never even thought of…

I gave Anne Murray’s “Put Your Hand In The Hand” a listen. Beautiful, as is just about everything Anne has done. YouTube suggested another, by Johnny Cash, which was done for a TV special, that included June Carter Cash, Anne Murray, Merle Haggard and (I think) Loretta Lynn (the woman singing with Haggard).

    [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fyua3hL3Ag%5D

    1. John,

I’m glad you added her’s to your playlist. Thanks for sharing the TV special version with all these huge names in mewsic.

        1. John,

Loretta Lynn is in this video (1:48) but I’m not sure who the woman is singing with Haggard at 0.58 sec. Is that the gal you’re asking about?

        2. I thought for a minute it might have been Bonnie Owens, but all the photos I can find of her show her with short hair.

        3. Mary,

I mentioned to Melissa that I went by the gal’s features and despite the images of Bonnie Owens with short hair I could see the resemblance in the eyes and chin line.

      1. Melissa,

I think it’s Bonnie, too. She has crescent-shaped eyes when she smiles and a bit of a square chin, so using her features I figured it out by looking at Google images.

  8. What a great list of music that has head in the title. Some I’ve not heard in a while.

I not only remember that game I had one when I was a kid. My sister and I played it all the time.

Awww on the winking kitty. So cute.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday, my friend. Love and hugs. ♥

    1. Sandee,

I didn’t have one when I was a kid but we got one for our kids. I wonder what happened to that game? It might be buried around here somewhere. 🙂

  9. That was some list. There were a few I’d never heard of but a liked the David Crowder Group. Thanks for sharing. I’d already done this theme but I added another today.

    1. Janet,

Some of my dance partners share long playlists, so that’s a great time for me to get my iPad or sketch pad out to do a little doodling. Thanks for dropping in for a visit!

  10. So many songs to choose from for this theme. Nicely done, Cathy!. 🙂 Love “Behind Blue Eyes” especially and “Hot Legs” is one of my favourites to do housework by. Really gets you moving! 😀

Best wishes to Marie’s daughter for a speedy recovery!

Hope you had a lovely Mother’s Day. I’m going to read your post, now. Cheers!

    1. Debbie,

I’ve been chairing boogieing all morning. Everyone this week really brought their A-game to dance floor. Thanks for the good wishes for Marie’s daughter. I’ll share an update asap! Thank you, I did have a lovely Mother’s Day. 🙂

  11. Hi Cathy :))
Great post!! For some odd reason (and I REALLY don’t like this type of music) that silly song “I like Big Butts” came to mind hee hee…talk about body parts!!! 😉
Oh my gosh Operation…we had one and yes, it’s anxiety-inducing that’s for sure…that big “EEEEEHHHHHH” sound it makes, I don’t think I ever finished a game without that horrible sound!!!

    1. Rain,

‘Baby Got Back’ was crazy popular there for a while and you’re right it’s such a silly song. I’m so opposite of the song lyrics. That’s the last place I want my weight. lol Operation did have the most annoying nerve-wracking sounds. I’d jump every time the buzzer went off. I had a horribly unstable hand.

  12. Well, that is quite the list you have there. I will probably be listening to these throughout the week. Love the David Crowder Band. Sunshine on My Shoulders was a favorite of mine once upon a time and if “Hot Legs” doesn’t get you out on the dance floor then nothing will. Have a blessed week.

    1. Driller,

So glad to see you on the 4M dance floor. There’s never a rush to list to my playlist, just enjoy it at your pace. That’s what I always do when I visit those who like me put together a lengthy set. Have a boogietastic week!

  13. Hi, Cathy!

Now that One-L Michele (the night owl) is back, she will probably be your early bird most of the time. 🙂

I remember the game Operation. but I don’t remember playing it. I suppose an electronic game was a novelty at the time and a major selling point. I wonder how many of today’s doctors actually got their training playing that board game. 🙂

I am keeping Marie’s daughter in my prayers today along with Michele’s mother, and I know you join me in saying prayers for both.

I will be featuring many Foreigner songs at Shady’s Place in the coming years. The body parts song “Head Games” is one of my favorites and one of their most memorable singles. I never heard of English singer Olly Murs or his song “Head To Toe.” Instead my thoughts immediately turned to a different “Head To Toe” song, the 1987 freestyle hit by Lisa Lisa And Cult Jam. The band’s video was a big hit on MTV/Vh1 and was played heavily on the music station where I worked:

“Head over Heels,” “I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight” and “Hot legs” were three more biggies that played often on the station where I was working in the 80s, especially that official video by rowdy Rod and his boys shot in the little town of Piru, California, outside of Los Angeles, and featuring many of the locals. “Behind Blue Eyes” by The Who, “Felt Good On My Lips,” “Oh For A Thousand Tongues to Sing,” “Fingertips” “Feet In The Clouds” and “Toes” are all new to my ears. My Pick To Click from that bunch is “Thousand Tongues” by The David Crowder Band. I really liked it! “He’s Got the Whole World In His Hand” by Laurie London is a song from my boyhood. My parents owned the record and I played it on my tiny tinny turntable in the basement. It took more than 60 years, until today at this moment, to realize that Laurie London was actually a boy and that he was from London, England. You’re never too old to learn!

I enjoyed that Albert Einstein meme. As a teenager I took some awful risks along those lines while driving a car. I’m lucky to be here!

Thanks for a great lineup of body part songs, dear friend Cathy. Have a tunetastic day and week!

    1. Tom,

Many thanks for praying for Marie’s daughter and yes, I will certainly be praying for Michele’s mama. She’s had her hands full with her injuries and surgeries in addition to caring for her mother. Poor darlin’!

I wondered the same thing about the Operation board game if it inspired some kids to become surgeons or doctors later in life. I had forgotten all about ‘Head to Toe’ by Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam. Thanks for the reminder! Yeah, I didn’t know that Laurie London was a boy either until now. Mentally, I kept thinking the singer was a black woman. Doesn’t he sound a bit like that to you? Kissing and driving is certainly risky for sure. The thing is when we were kids most cars had a bench type front seat which made it way easier to kiss your date as opposed to the introduction of bucket seats up front which makes stealing a kiss a lot harder. That being said, it’s even more dangerous to do. I think kids get into more accidents because of texting than kissing, though. Einstein’s quote seems so off-mark coming from this intellect but he was known to have quite the sense of humor and I’m sure this is a small sample of it. Thanks for joining me on the dance floor and I’m looking forward to your next forward to your upcoming feature of Foreigner on SPMM, my friend!

  14. Happy Monday Morning Cathy! Hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day. Mine sucked because my Mom is in the hospital since Thursday and probably won’t be back home until she’s strong enough to get around on her own. She’s transferring to a rehab or skilled nursing facility later today. So I’m going to make some rounds this morning but the rest of the day is going to be quite busy. But I’ll be visiting everyone’s posts over the week.

I loved how you did your post Head to Toe in one post. Isn’t it crazy how many songs have body parts?? When you read mine you’ll see that I’m turning this into a series (imagine that!). Some of the songs you had today I’ll be featuring down the road but you had several that I was completely unfamiliar with. I really like Tim McGraw’s “Felt Good on My Lips”. Never heard of Olly Murs or the David Crowder Band. And that Laurie London: is that a boy named Laurie? That one in the photo is him singing? I didn’t know Laurie was a unisex name! Although familiar with the bands, I never heard One Republic’s song or Zac Brown’s song that you featured.
Excellent playlist! Hard pressed to pick my favorite but my top three would be Foreigner’s “Head Games”, Tears for Fears “Head Over Heels” and Cutting Crews “I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight.” LOVE all of those songs! And of course Bread. Who doesn’t love Bread?? I like Italian and Jewish Rye best… 🙂

Have a great week my friend,
    talk soon,
    Love ya,

    Michele at Angels Bark

    1. Michele,

Oh, drats, sorry to hear that your mother isn’t well. Don’t fret over making rounds. Your mama comes first!

I was very surprised to find the number of songs pertaining to ‘body parts’. I can’t wait to hop over to see what you’re sharing and I certainly can see you turning this one into a series. There are enough tunes to make it well worth repeating giving each body part its own spotlight.

Ha-Ha! Yeah, who doesn’t love Bread? 😀 Thanks for boogieing with me, my friend!
