Monday's Music Moves Me

For my mother

Awww Mondays hosted by Sandee from Comedy Plus.

Hello, my lovelies!  Well, the A2Z challenge is now behind me for another year.  I appreciate all of my loyal peeps popping in on me throughout April.  Your support meant a lot to me.  Judging by comments I think everyone enjoyed my theme.

It’s the first Monday of  a new month.  This week’s Monday’s Mewsic Moves Me theme is your choice song picks which I’m very glad about because let’s face it my creative juices are a bit low right now but I’ll get back into gear.  With Mother’s Day this coming Sunday, I think I’ll share songs For My Mother.   Hit play to enjoy my mini playlist of songs.

For My Mother playlist: 1. The Hand That Rocks The Cradle (Glen Campbell/Steve Wariner) 2. Songbird (Sol3 MIO) 3. Mama Said (The Shirelles) 4. Oh, Mother of Mine (The Temptations) 5. I’ll Always Love My Mama (The Intruders)

This month’s honorary co-host is John from The Sound of One Hand Typing

❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵

This is a mewsic linky party. Every other week we have a suggested mewsic theme (see side menu) to build your song set around and all participants share YouTube or Vimeo videos for our mewsic enthusiasts.  Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.

My apologizes to John.  I made a goof on the linky and didn’t know how to rearrange the entries without deleting the whole thing.

Did you notice my May 1st BoTB penned at the top?  Consider yourself invited to play along.  All I need you to do is cast a vote for your favorite cover artist in my newest showdown.  It’s that simple.

Okay, it’s wraps for now, I shall do my best to fall into my normal blogging routine.   I’m still playing catch up with A2Zers and shall carry forward the mindset to not stress but enjoy the moments.  This may mean I might not be quite ready to get into my regular routine.   That’s okay because everything I do in Blogosphere is meant to be fun, not a chore.  With that, let me point out I have one more A-Z entry to share, so watch for my Reflections post to publish one day this week.  Alrighty, y’all have a boogietastic week!  X💋X💋, Cathy

Steve Wariner and Glen Campbell are favourite today, that is such an amazing song. Granny has seen Steve Wariner a few years ago and fell in love with his songs immediately. First time she cried in the open…MOL…Pawkisses for a wonderful day and Thank you so much for your lovely comment on our bloggie. We feel very welcome here🐾😽💞

I only knew one of the songs, Mama Said and of the four new (to me) I enjoyed The Intruders. I’m surprised I never heard of them, for the impact they made. They sure have the Philadelphia sound in this song. Well done!

You picked some nice songs to remember your mom and moms everywhere. I miss my mom every day and talk to her but how I wish I could hear her talk back to me. She was a Supermom who took care of me and my brother, the house and full yard(country) and was the bookkeeper etc.. for the sawmill business my parents ran. She even drove the truck at the beginning. When we moved into that home, there was a door to the downstairs but no stairs! I was 1 and my brother was 4. There was no yard and the former owner dumped his garbage in the front hidden by the tall weeds. She built that home from almost nothing plus the yard and she always made every Christmas, Valentine’s, Easter and birthdays so special. Every Sunday there were candles on the table. I truly don’t know how she did it all.

I can relate to that quote about mother being right. In my case I’d say it about my father. Before he became stricken with the affliction that soon took his life, I thanked him for what he taught me about being a father. I was so rebellious toward him much of the time, but really I guess I was not all that bad of a son. And my daughters all turned out pretty good and are doing a good job raising their own kids.

    Happy Mother’s Day!

    Hi, Cathy!

Happy Awww-some 4-M Monday to you, dear friend! I hope you and DH had a nice weekend.

That cute little girl with curlers in her hair reminds me of my girlfriend of the 60s, the future Mrs. Shady #1. She had long hair and to style it she used frozen orange juice cans as curlers or rollers. Did you ever hear of doing that? It was a sight to see!

With Mother’s Day approaching, it was very thoughtful of you to honor your dear mother with a set of songs dedicated to her. The first song, “The Hand That Rocks The Cradle (Rules The World),” is an ideal song about mothers. There really should be a Hall of Fame for mothers because they work so hard, give so much care, and sacrifice so much for their children. “Mama Said,” the hit by the classic 50s/early 60s girl group The Shirelles, is one of my favorite songs from my growing up years. It was also a treat for my old ears to hear that 1961 song by the Temptations. ” Oh Mother of Mine” was the group’s first single for Motown Records. You also posted a classic single by The Intruders that represents the smooth, cool Sound of Philadelphia in the 70s. “I’ll Always Love My Mama” brushed the top 5 on the R&B chart in the summer of 1973 and went on to become a perennially popular play every Mother’s Day since.

That last meme tells the truth. It often happens that you don’t realize your mother was right until you grow into an adult, experience life from her perspective, and have a child of your own that thinks you’re wrong.

Yessum, I look forward to reading your Reflections on the 2021 A to Z later this week. Have a safe and happy one, dear friend Cathy!
