Monday's Music Moves Me

Food, Family, & Friendship

Awww Mondays hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus

Hard as it is to believe, next week is Thanksgiving.  Marie from XmasDolly is this month’s honorary co-hostess.  She suggested we build our music around “food, family, and friendship“.

This is a music link up.  Your post must contain at least one song or your URL is marked “No Music”.

4M co-hostess are featured in my right side bar underneath the banner. The guidelines are simple.  Every other week, a suggested (not mandatory) theme is given to build your song picks. YouTube and other music sites have options to create and embed playlists or individual songs into your post. On the off weeks, we dance to whatever music moves you (your choice)! To access the party, add your music post below, and visit others on the dance floor. Let the party begin!

My song set includes a little bit from each of the “key words” for this week’s prompt.  I hope you enjoy the music.  Now, let’s get this party started!

Share with us today your answers these questions.

  1. What is your favorite Thanksgiving dish?
  2. Do you have a unique recipe you make only for the holidays?
  3. Will you travel near or far to see family and friends for Thanksgiving?

Before I zip off, I’m taking music themes for 2024.  Please feel free to submit your ideas via email without fear of being locked into a month long co-hosting spot, but if you want to volunteer for it then we’d love to have you fill in! I will credit all suggestions.   The calendar for the new year is still wide open. I hope you’ll consider tossing your prompts soon!   I’ll be back mid-week with another edition in my Pencil Sketch Inspired Procreate Recreation Art Series.  That’s it for now.  Thanks for joining us on the dance floor, next time why not invite a friend.  😘

Have a blessed and boogietastic week!  X💋X💋, Cathy

Monday’s Sparks….

If our people could only see all this, they would stop grumbling about their own misfortunes and offer thanks to God for blessing them with such abundance.  -Mother Teresa

If I knew you were going to include “If I Knew You Were Comin’ I Would Have Baked You a Cake” in your playlist, I would have baked you a cake. Or, at least, a brownie from a mix. I haven’t heard that song in forever. Same with the Newbeats song. I knew, I think, three songs on your playlist. Of the new ones, the Isley Bros. song was my favorite. And, oh yes, the Swedish Chef! We actually still don’t know if we are traveling for part of Thanksgiving. Our “holidays only” dish isn’t a dish, but a store bought product, an eggnog made by an Ithaca, New York ice cream shop which they sell in a limited number of stores. It is the best eggnog ever and Thanksgiving/Christmas wouldn’t be the same without it. Alana ramblinwitham

Love the Swedish Chef Girlfriend… sorry I’m so late, but doctor visits, shopping for next week and I’m staying home the rest of the week. This weather makes my back go nuts!!! Damp & cold… bummer! Luv ya honey… Great job! HUGS… Hope hubby is doing fine and yourself of course! Luv ya!!!!

We both had The Newbeats… that’s a song that’s slipped out of circulation. I have a live (well, a lip-sync) version of it. The guy who does the falsetto part is the tallest of the three….

I think I featured the Eileen Barton song a while ago. I remember Pillsbury borrowed the song for their Bundt cake mixes and made it “If I Knew You Were Coming I’da Baked A Bundt.”

    Good set!

      Patrick,

We use to travel for the holidays but anymore we just go in a week or two before Thanksgiving. It’s crazy how heavy traffic is for the holidays. I hope you have safe travels and a good time with your family, my friend!

Happy Thanksgiving in advance, Cathy. 🦃 In Canada, ours is the 2nd Monday in October and it’s a harvest festival. The American version, with the 4-day weekend, is so much more fun. 😀 Gratitude is a common theme for both. I enjoyed your playlist. Weird Al is always hilarious!

      Debbie,

Not all Americans get to enjoy a long weekend for Thanksgiving. I feel for anyone who works in retail especially this time of year. Mom worked for years as a sales’ clerk and I hated that she got home late for special occasions when I was younger. Thanksgiving or Harvest Festival or whatever other nations (if they do) choose to celebrate, expressing one’s gratitude for the blessings given needs to be recognized, praised, lifted up. We’re blessed more than we even know. I learned long ago this lesson. It was clear when I thought about the homeless or those with poor health or other struggles that quickly humbled my heart. No matter how hard it, I try to find the good around me and to give thanks.

Yes, retail never sleeps and it’s a shame that people in that profession get shortchanged from their family time. At least here, stores are closed on national holidays. Gratitude is definitely the right attitude, all year ’round. And especially now, when the world is in such turmoil. We donate to food banks and various charities, but it’s never enough to fill the need, it seems. I hope you and your family have a joyous Thanksgiving! 🌹
