In the above and below photos, I captured in 2014 while on a daycation along the Blue Ridge Parkway. The first photo is of Price Lake from a different angle than usual and in the below picture we were at the Heintooga campground just off the parkway near Cherokee. I love how the clouds are setting between the mountains in the valley. I remember the morning I snapped this picture it was particularly chilly.
I don’t know what the mountains will look like as we go into our staycation. The foliage forecasts says that the peak in our area is at the end of the month through early November. In the past I’ve seen some pretty colors in November but I’m a bit skeptical that forecasters got it correct this year. We’ll see but it doesn’t really matter. I know we’ll have a nice time enjoying God’s country even if all the trees are naked.
You’re invited to join Wild Wednesdays, the linky party where just about anything goes to self-promote your blog or favorite post. No rules apply, other than keeping it family oriented. Everyone is welcome to join!
I’m semi-off radar in Blogosphere this week but for those who enjoy participating with others in the Wordless Wednesday community, please visit my bloggy pals Sandee, Natasha, Marie, & Wordless Wednesday! Tomorrow, my TAD post is scheduled for those interested. I’m in the midst of preparing for our staycation and I’m limiting my involvement in Blogosphere. I shall leave you with today’s WSC song picks. Have a wild and wonderful day! X💋X💋, Cathy

All so very beautiful. Thanks for sharing this.
You will certainly be in a beautiful part of the country, no matter what the weather or the leaves. Love the music, it brings back memories.
Mimi,
I agree. We’ve never been to Louisiana but I would like to see some of the attractions and eat some of the cuisine.
Such beautiful scenes! Gotta love Leory Brown, the Southside of Chicago, not so much these days.
Brian,
Yep, the Southside of Chicago is rough, I hear.
All songs I love, and some nice foliage pictures. Hope the color is nice for your staycation. Enjoy!
Thanks, Alana. We’re looking forward to having some time together.
You picked some great songs and gogeous pictures for us today!
Thanks, John! I’m glad you enjoyed them.
I had to laugh when hearing Disco Duck which was such a surprise hit back then. Leroy Brown is a great song but what a shame Jim Croche died too young. I forgot about the disco song of your 3rd pick. Love your pictures especially the one with the pumpkin. Have a great staycation.
Beautiful photos. I love fall most of all. Thanks for hosting. XO
Thanks, Ellen. So, glad you joined the party! 😉
Lovely pictures! Makes me long for East Tennessee, but I always do.
I added my link to your list just for the heck of it. Maybe I’ll get recharged with blogging in the near future.
I’d say you made some good picks for the song challenge except I could have gone all day without “Disco Duck”. That is a weird remembrance of the past. What was Rick Dees thinking?

Lee,
Thanks for joining the WildWednesdays linky party. Don’t worry, you’ll get back into blogging when it feels right. I have no clue what Dees was thinking when he penned “Disco Duck” but it sure did catch on fire in the 70s. It’s a silly song but it’s fun and has a great dance beat!
Beautiful photos, Cathy! I hope you and DH have a wonderful staycation. 🍂🥮
Thanks, Debbie. I’m sure we will!
Beautiful fall colors. You live is a beautiful place.
Have a fabulous Wild Wednesday, Cathy. Love and hugs. ♥
Sandee,
East Tennessee is beautiful country. I hope one day we can visit the Pacific northwest, from northern California to Seattle, Washington. DH has a cousin who lives either in or near Seattle.
Love your pics, Cathy, and great boogietastic mewsic! I always liked ‘Bad Bad Leroy Brown’! Keep on keepin’ on. 🎃
Eugenia,
“Bad Bad Leroy Brown” is a great song from my childhood. I remember when I was little I thought it was okay to sing swear words but not say them in conversation. LOL Nowadays swear words are far worse and spoken every other word without any forethought.
Hi, Cathy!
Happy Wild and Almost Wordless Wednesday, dear friend! I wasn’t expecting to see you until tamale. I’m glad you posted some flashback pics of the trees changing colors along with song pics for this week’s WSC.
That looks like a lovely spot there at Price Lake. I do hope the forecasters got it right this year. One of my friends in Ohio reports that the changing of the leaves has been delayed this season by warmer than usual temperatures. Regardless, I know that you and DH will have a wonderful time together out there in your element. That church and cemetery scene does indeed look like a painting! The pumpkin and flowers will surely make visitors feel welcome as they approach your front door.
I know all three songs you picked for the WSC. It’s nice to learn that your favorite color is pink. There’s a song for just about any color you could name, even unusual ones. The Duke Ellington tune “Mood Indigo” immediately comes to mind. Next, I conducted a search and found a 1958 record by a Cleveland band called The Starfires entitled “Chartreuse Caboose.” I don’t know if it is in any way related to the 1960 movie of the same name. “Chartroose” is an alternate spelling of Chartreuse which, as an artist, you probably know is a bright yellow-green.
Here are my WSC selections:
BOY NAME SONG: I’m going with a title I doubt anybody else around the WSC circuit will name. It’s a single by Polly Brown’s English pop band Pickettywitch entitled “”Waldo P. Emerson Jones” Released at the end of February, 1971, the record reached #83 in Canada.
ANIMAL SONG: I score DOUBLE WSC points with this one – “Walking My Cat Named Dog,” a single by singer/songwriter Normal Tanega that brushed the top 20 in the spring of 1966. Norma’s song “You’re Dead” is now the theme song of What We Do In The Shadows, a hit horror-comedy TV series that Mrs. Shady and I highly recommend.
FAVORITE COLOR SONG: I choose “Green Green Grass of Home” as sung by Tom Jones, a single that brushed the top 10 for the Welsh warbler in the early weeks of 1967. The song was originally a #4 hit on the Country chart for Porter Wagoner in 1965.
Enjoy the rest of your week, dear friend Cathy!
Tom,
Well, I hope the leaf forecasters got it wrong for here, too. There hasn’t been a lot of change in my neighborhood. At the bottom of my drive when I look down one side of the road there’s a couple of huge oak trees which I use as my fall color meter. Several years ago I captured some lovely colors and I shared somewhere on this site but darn, if I can’t find it now. sigh Oh well, if I do I will have to feature it again. I went over to YT to listen to “Waldo P. Emerson Jones” and it’s new to my ears. I came across “Walking My Cat Named Dog” in recent years. I love the song title! I have the FX series, What We Do In The Shadows in cue at Hulu. I will try to watch an episode of that today. Thanks for the recommendation. “Green Green Grass of Home” is an oldie I know. Tom Jones’s cover is nice. I actually like it better than the original. I featured Jones’ recording on CAAC in recent past. You came up with three good song picks. I don’t know how your bust your brain multiple times in one day for this weekly prompt but you do a magnificent job!
