Drops of Jupiter BOTB results

Howdy, kittens and dawgs! Yesterday, I shared sunset shots taken from Water Rock Knob, North Carolina. I got a little creative and thought I’d share it with you and if you like photo-art, then you may want to visit Claudia for s-A(R)T-urday.

In my original, I bumped the grey scale removing most of the color except for the sunset glow and added my copyright. Then, I went back in added a bokeh heart background as an overlay and lowered the opacity so the hearts appear faintly in the image. My last touch came with the color balance in which I bumped the mid-tones and highlights causing the sunset to stand out.

Alrighty, I know I’m late with announcing June 1st battle showdown between Judy Collins and Eddie Money covering Drops of Jupiter by Train. I know you guys follow these battles pretty darn close, even with out the help of a fancy widget showing the results. Anywho, here’s how it went down.

Judy Collins VS Eddie Money (Drops of Jupiter)

Eddie Money was like a runaway Train (pun intended, totally) in this battle making him the clear victor.

Who got my vote? Conflicted on who to give mine to, I went back and forth between the artists until I finally decided to give it to Judy Collins. Her vocals and song style was different from the original and Eddie’s giving Drops of Jupiter more of that summer airiness I was referring to in my post. Judy made the song seem magical like a summer night. 😀

Congratulations to Eddie Money!

I know many of y’all couldn’t cast your vote thanks to the internet police restricting both video contents to folks outside the USA. I really don’t get this, but that’s just the way things go.

Unfortunately, I failed to make all the rounds this time. I got side tracked with repairing issues Google flagged on my site. This is the second time in the past month I’ve gotten notification from Google. Each time something new and it’s so annoying.

Last week the urge for a blog hiatus hit kinda hard. I need energizing! So, starting now, I’m officially taking a break from blogging. This is a perfect time to kick back while blog traffic is light, too. I’m not setting my return date in stone, but I’m aiming for July 1st. Who knows, I might sneak back early or decide to go a little longer. I’m playing it by ear.

Thanks for your votes! I hope you’ll visit Stephen to see how the other showdowns went down.  This is Curious as a Cathy signing off with today’s winner!

Baby Hold On to me. I’ll be back in Blogosphere in a wink of an eye! 😉

  1. Enjoy your blog break (and I hope your Google issues stop soon). I’ll probably be off to camp by the time you get back, but I’ll have the address posted on my blog. I sure hope to hear from you again. It was lovely getting your letter last year! Be well, my friend:)

    1. Robin, thanks for the heads up on your plans to return to summer camp. I will watch for the address to show on your site and hopefully I can zip off a letter to you. I still find it fun to get snail mail. It’s not often I get it these days, mostly its junk fill my mail box. I’m working to get all of the bugs out of my blog. For now, I believe the issues Google flagged are taken care of. I am busy cleaning up broken URL addresses internally from when I made the move from Blogger to WP. It’s big job and I’ll be glad to get it all behind me. Have a good weekend!

  2. Love Love Love Eddie Money… this particular song my husband and I use to sing with our old band “Perfect Chaos”! I’ve been taking more blogging breaks lately too, but only because of doctor appts. & too much pain & I have to lay down. Once I get my shots I’ll be good to go. I only have $92 more to save… woo hoo!!!! Thanks for sharing babes!!! Hope all is well with your puter now!

    1. Marie, Eddie Money is a musical talent with a large fan base. I like several of his songs. Baby Hold On may be my favorite. I don’t know. I need to revisit more of his hit songs. The problem I’m having isn’t with my computer. Google flagged irregularities on my site, which need fixing. I took care of those, but then I began thinking about when I migrated from the blogger platform to WP and I have tons of internal links that need to be removed or replaced. This along will keep me busy for the next couple of weeks, if not longer. *sigh* Enjoy your day and I’ll be seeing you around!

  3. I can totally understand the need for a blogging break. I hope you enjoy your time away. Missing you for this next BOTB but will look forward to your return!
Have fun with your free non-blogging time!

    1. Michele, A blogging break once or twice a year works well for me to keep me from getting staled out in Blogosphere. I don’t like it when it begins to feel like a chore, you know? This is meant to be fun. I appreciate your understanding, as I know many do. It gives me the confidence to get my mojo back on again before returning. 🙂

    1. Dixie, Yeah, I hope to be back in July. But,if I’m honest I’m questioning even if I should come back then. lol I’ll just wait to see how things go. The break is long over due and I REALLY need it. Have a good weekend, my friend!

  4. Not a bad outcome even though my pick was not on the winning side. You and I know that we had the right one though.

  5. Oh, Eddie for the win! Yeah!

I have a friend who dated Eddie Money in the early 80s (if you’re reading, you’ll notice that I didn’t say your name, so don’t have a cow). Apparently, she never told her husband what I consider a FANTASTIC story. She has albums with long rambling messages on them…nah, he wouldn’t notice that…

    Have a good weekend, Cathy!

    1. Cherdo, interesting story. Why didn’t she tell her hubs? Was she dating Eddie & her hubs at the same time? Thanks for sharing.

  6. I love the artistic touches you use on your photos, Cathy. 🙂 As for the battle, I’m glad my guy Eddie, won. He has a special place in my memory banks. Website issues are SO aggravating! 🙁 I can understand your need for a break. Enjoy!

    1. Thanks, Deb! I sorta figured Eddie would win this round. I think he & Judy’s covers are better than the original. Don’t tell Robin this, though. Train is her wheelhouse! lol I like ’em, too. But, it’s always fun to see if a cover artist can out do the original singer. My website issues are now wordless down to changing internal links from old blog URL to match this site’s address. Also, I discovered my music posts vids from the earliest years did not transfer. They aren’t visible to the viewer, but thankfully I can pull part of the YouTube address to get the matching vid file to insert into my post. I hope to repair all of these problems before the month ends. This will keep me busy! Thanks for stopping by. I’ll see ya soon!

  7. Hi, Cathy!

I like what you did to further enhance that sunset picture. The floating hearts remind me of fireflies, or “lightning bugs” as we called them in PA. A three vote margin in your BOTB is a good close outcome and I enjoyed both versions. “Baby Hold On” is simply a great classic rock recording by Eddie Money. Thanks for posting it.

I hope you enjoy your blogging hiatus, dear friend. You might be out of sight, but you will not be out of mind. Take good care of yourself, Cathy!
